Gas grilling suggestions

think most of the ceramic grill manufacturers recommend not using lighter fluid at all so that it doesn't get absorbed into the ceramic liners
This. A buddy used lighter fluid in his egg and it reeked for a month. Had to do multiple burns at some higher temp to finally get the smell out of it.

Just got a call from the freight company and my new Grilla Kong Kamodo will be here tomorrow afternoon.

... must be Italian!

That is the good thing about the Looftlighter, you can just leave it blowing on the coals longer and spread more fire and heat to move it along.

Yeah, my family never complains. But thanks for the info.

BTW, to the folks who said my grill setting was too high: dead on. I've backed it down and used the MOM method Inigo recommended and that worked great!

Hooky, how's the new grill? I know you tried it out this weeknd!

We had some family stuff going on, so it's still sitting on the pallet in the garage. I'm going to put it together and use it this weekend. I'm ashamed that it's sat there for a week.

Within my group of poker buddies, there's one who's wise old uncle (I call him Uncle Confucious!) always tells my friend "Kids... they ain't that great!", whenever he's describing the latest family shenanigans. Now we just abbreviate it in our group texts "Kids..." Welcome to the group!

I just use a home made grill that I burn small pieces of wood in. I have a good variety and can cut it up. Stainless steel , very low tech and also very cheap and long lasting. I was looking at the Green Egg and some of that stuff,Wow seems a lot of money to me. Use some chips to get started or a bit of denatured alcohol that burns clean. Hickory , Cherry and maple do the best. Charcoal is getting expensive especially to grill for one or two. I have a small gas grill to do things quick if I'm in a hurry .

I used one of these for years for every charcoal grill I've ever had. They work great.

Wifey bought me a Weber Summit. Best grill I've ever had. Controls heat like a God.

I used that many years ago to get away from lighter fluid. The Looflighter accomplishes the same thing but in addition to the heating element, it blows super hot air, so I think it's easier to leave it on and "fan the flames" and get the coals going a little quicker. I'm sure it's more expensive and I do worry about it burning out if you run it that long, but so far it works OK.

PS, I finally caved too and just bought a gas Weber used so I could cook more quickly. My thought was I'd have the best of both worlds, but I've not fired up the Kamado since I got the Weber. Maybe on weekends when I have more time.

Basically, you stole a shopping cart and tipped it over, yes?

Just got a hand me down original PK Grill. Cast aluminum that gets as hot as the gates of hell. The perfect tool for summer steaks.
