Does Woodson even care?

If i were on this team, i think this would be a serious question I'd have. Seems like the players care more than coach. Maybe Leal can become the de facto player/coach. Maybe Calbert can tell CMW to stay home and just run things from here. Dolson has to be thinking about who our next coach will be next season.

He absolutely wanted to be the one guy that was an NBA player with some coaching experience that went back to his old school and rescued it. He underestimated the necessity of picking a support network that would give him the best chance to do it. He's incredibly insecure so we have the crummy staff we have.

He's known for a while now that he's not a college coach but we're talking about 4+ million a year and the title of IU coach. He's aware that this is it. I think he'll attempt to keep his job by offering to pull a Penny and hire a completely new staff, but the massive January losing streak that's coming will be the final nail in the coffin.

He cares about having the title and having people kiss his behind. He isn't willing to do the hard work the job requires. And he is the third highest paid coach in the big ten. Unreal

No, he underestimated the effort needed to be a first rate college coach. It's a 24/7, 365d/yr job that requires sucking up to 17 y.o. kids that can be extremely high maintenance.
It's a damn hard and time consuming job. He's not that committed.

I bet a guy like Painter was working 70 hours a week his first few years on the job. Woodson is lucky to put in 40 a week. Nba guys rarely if ever succeed when they try and coach college
But he is paid like a first rate coach which is mind blowing for the effort he gives.

do you really know how much he works; he sucks but who knows what hours he puts in

I am sure you know. Do tell us please. If he is working 70 hours a week that's even worse. That means he really stinks and has no clue.
no, I don't have any idea, he may work his ass off or he may just show up for practice and games, what I've known after his 1st Year was, he wasn't the man for the job, got ridiculed for saying so.

Woodson cares. He cares to the best of his abilities. He’s 100. Give him a break.

If he cared like a hungry young coach killing himself to prove something, Liam Mcneeley would be our starting shooting guard. Braylon Mullins and jalen harelson would be up next.

If he cared like a NCAA hungry basketball coach, we wouldn’t look like we do.

Let's see.

He ghosts recruits to smoke cigars and drink wine with his buddies.

He doesn't stay in touch with recruits in his own state nor go to watch them, while out of state coaches find the time.

He shows up to pre game film sessions for the B1G tournament without knowing who we're even playing.

He naps in his office regularly.

The few recruiting trips he does take heavily involves him scheduling tee times for his buddies and himself at exclusive clubs on the universities dime. Without any recruits there, of course.

He also proudly proclaimed he's done his job here despite any real accomplishments.

I mean, if that's working hard then I didn't know what slacking would look like.

This is a retirement gig and grift, nothing more.

And not just a grift a great grift. Third highest paid coach in the big ten. It still is baffling we are paying a guy nobody wanted a top three salary.

lot of conjecture there about what he's doing with his time. I'm not defending him by any means I don't believe he has a clue. what's the story on the film session that's hard to believe.

He thought we were playing MSU when we were actually playing Much. Ya called him out and Woodson then tried to physically fight him.

This is a dumpster fire.

I hope we see a 5 or 6 game losing streak in January. I really want it. Broken record here.

If he cared about the best interests of the program he would step aside and support the hiring of the best available replacement.

Why did you only list the things he's most proud of?
To be fair, where are the negatives.............................🤣

Go listen to the Hoosier Hysterics podcast. They lay it all out.

And we all owe them a giant thank you. They have been honest since day one with their podcasts.
Maybe they have, but how do you know? That particular story is 2nd hand at best. I don't doubt that most of what they said is truthful, but I also don't trust those clowns to not impart their own spin.

People will believe what they want to believe, and trust who they want to believe.

Agree. That podcast is a joke. Woody isn't cutting it but those guys just have an ax to grind and no one know if half of what they said is true.

Joe Barry Carroll was drafted out of PU by the Warriors and after a short time was nicknamed Joe Barely Cares.

Woodson has a huge number of losses in his coaching career and necessarily developed a tolerance for losing long ago. It’s normal for him to coach a mediocre team., that’s all he knows.

In shadows cast upon the court's dim plight,
Where echoes whisper tales of loss and dread,
A figure stands, adorned in hopes of light,
But dreams dissolve like mist, and hope lies dead.

From hallowed halls where champions once roamed,
A man named Woodson sought to lift the game,
Yet in the crucible of cheers, enthroned,
He found the weight of failure turned to shame.

Each flickered star that promised victory,
Now dims beneath the shadow of despair,
The roster's might, once vibrant history,
Betrayed by fate, a tale too hard to bear.

The clock ticks down, an echo of defeat,
And every missed shot, every sigh, a curse,
Yet still he lingers there, in hope's retreat,
A specter of a dream, now but a verse.

In moonlit gloom, where specters of the past,
Recount the fortunes lost, the dreams that frayed,
Mike Woodson's name, to whispers now is cast,
A cautionary tale where hope once played.
