It's not even remotely racist. There's nothing in those comments referencing the band's race, explicitly or implicitly.
I feel like the correct answer is "It's not technically racist," but anytime you need to qualify racist with "technically"...

I agree. I don’t see how it’s racist - just dumb and really not all that funny.
Like so much of what we see today, it is racist if you need it to be. These fans did not come up with this on their own, they were taught to do this by the rest of us.
Calling someone any sort of an "ist" is the easy button when they diss you or your product.
At some point society will ignore and hopefully punish the bleating, but for now it works.
In the mean time, people that are actually mistreated due to race, gender, orientation etc are being done a great disservice.

Pendulums swing wide for a reason. Not saying you’re wrong but I’ll take a couple generations of over-sensitivity to get away from the good old days when any hillbilly could say any racist bullshit and no one would say a damn thing.
Call it progress.
