Bill of rights promises a scholarship not a spot on the team … a player who no longer has a scholarship spot on the team could choose to remain on scholarship via the Bill of Rights and attend IU … but given Limits to number of scholarships available for basketball (13) … if a player wants to remain on the team as a walk-on they would have to forfeit their bill of Rights scholarship.Has the Fred Glass Bill of Rights been repealed? I thought one of the main features of that deal was that athletes would stay on scholarship for four years unless they violate rules or leave voluntarily?
I hate to say this, but with the "no-sit" Transfer Portal and thousands of dollars that student are making with NIL (while receiving all the perks of being a college player), my views towards Creaning are changing. Anyone else feel the same?
Again, his shooting percentages went down over his career - it wasn't just one year it was staedy year over year. The Marshall year was an aberration playing against no doubt lesser talent. He is not an upgrade in any way. He doesn't create shots, he doesn't break down the defense leading to an assist, and he shoots poorly. He will be worse playing against B1G competition. Why he is even being talked to is beyond me.Except for when he did shoot...for his first 2 college seasons (40 and 36 percent respectively)...and was a very good FT shooter all 3 years...
I'm even advocating for him assuming he shoots similarly to last year though. He'd still help us. And if he happens to revert to some form of his first 2 years, he could be a MASSIVE upgrade.
As of today, our biggest need via roster development is to improve our wing production. Shooting is absolutely one way to do that. But it isn't the only way. We can get better and more versatile defensively. And we can get better, and more versatile rebounding and taking the ball to the basket. Dennis answers the defense, rebounding, and taking the ball to the basket. He may not shooting.
Now, if one of TJD or Race doesn't come back. Then I think adding versatile, long, wing defenders similar to Dennis becomes critical, along with getting another big for depth.
In either scenario, I think Dennis helps us, potentially a lot. I'd take him immediately, before the rest of the roster shakes out. If we end up losing one or more of our potential starters (X, TJD, Race)...then having a versatile wing guy like Dennis will be invaluable.
His defense won't be as good playing in the B1G.Yep. Doesnt AAC Defensive POY mean anything to many on here? I think it does. I get the shooting needs to get better but this guy looks like he could really help on the defensive end.
You don’t get Defensive player of the year and not be good at D. This isn’t the 1980s. The AAC doesn’t suck. His defense won't be as good playing in the B1G.
