Dexter Dennis

Lol! That’s why a team like Arkansas is recruiting him so hard.

You must have seen Dennis play many times over the years to be so sure about how you know he will perform for us. I know I didn’t see him play. But I do know teams like Arkansas and West Virginia, both with outstanding coaches, are interested in him. I think I’ll go with their thinking rather than yours.
Lol Arkansas is interested in every transfer.

He was very underwhelming. I called that from the beginning. We need difference makers.

I would take McNeil and Pack for sure over Dennis.

Sean McNeil, from everything I've read, will still be recruited whether we land Dennis or not.

I'm not sure who Pack is.

Pack is an undersized 2 guard. 5’10”. Purdue fans have a hard on for him. They think he’s their future point guard. He’s a great catch and shoot guy. Averages 2 assist per game.

Ahhh, Nijel Pack from K State. The kid that wants to be a point guard.

Yeah, we're not getting him. We've already got two pretty good ones in X and JHS. And then in a tight spot, we've seen Galloway can bring the ball up.

We're obviously after WING players in the portal. Pack doesn't see himself as that, so I don't understand why his name was brought up.

Because he’s a better SG than any we have. It would be up to the staff to convince him that is the best way to showcase his NBA potential. He could easily play the 2 on offense and 1 on defense. There are a ton more examples better than Dennis in the portal, but you already know that.

He doesn't want to play the 2 on defense. He wants to play the point on offense. That's been made very clear by him.

He’s not getting to league as a 5’10 sg.

Obviously. It’s up to the staff to convince him that’s a mistake. There are still many better players than Dennis

It doesn't matter what the staff thinks.

If the player wants to be a point, he will be a point. Teams are recruiting him to play the point, so the staff would essentially be wasting their time trying to convince him to come here when he has said what he wants when other teams are giving him what he wants and we are not.

It's simple supply and demand. We don't need a point, which he wants to be.

I don't expect it. Woodson said the magic words--"He's ready". TJD repeated the magic words in his announcement.

If he comes back, you've got Reneau, Dennis & McNeil to look at. I 'd prefer Reneau if there isn't another departure. I'd be indifferent between McNeil and Dennis.
Lots of people disagree and expect TJD back..

Lol

I just saw his photo on the front page are we really serious about him? He only averaged 8 points at WS and cannot shoot the threee. I guess I must be missing something on this one

Yes we're serious.

We wouldn't have brought him in for a official visit if we weren't.
Yep. Doesnt AAC Defensive POY mean anything to many on here? I think it does. I get the shooting needs to get better but this guy looks like he could really help on the defensive end.

Chris from btown banners says expect him to anmounce for IU soon. Says kopp is likely the odd man out. Take it for what its worth chris is no rabjohns!!!! Few are.

Not saying he's wrong, but Kopp is suppose to graduate in December and also would be surprised to see the staff ask a starter off the team that made the tournament to move on from last year.

If someone was asked to leave, I would put money on Logan.

I’m seeing /hearing leal paying his own way. That is allowed with NIL money. His parents work at IU. I believe they get a double discount. I’d say everyone stays at this point.

Also possibly Leal paying his own way. I believe moving from an athletic scholarship to an academic scholarship prohibited, but there have been known cases of players paying tuition themselves after having been on scholarship

His parents work at IU. Big discount plus NIL can pay for it.

The word was Kopp was asked to leave and Leals name was mentioned as well. Leal possibly paying his own way. Either way it looks like if Kopp does stay is being being recruited over so I do not expect he will play much.

Dennis has an elite skillset, in his defense. Nothing elite with MK and JG. Maybe you could argue JG's athleticism but no elite skills.
Correct about Dennis. People need to get ready for him to announce for IU soon. The staff certainly feels like he is coming.

WOWOWOWOWOW! Dropping bombs. I hate to think who we lose because I feel TJD is coming back. I really hope it isn't Leal. I'm not sure i want it to be anybody. Anxiously awaiting the plan......
Some say Kopp, some say Leal pays his own way (some say it's illegal), so say Duncomb since he won't get any playing time if TJD comes back.

Those seem like the most obvious choices. I feel i'm most comfortable with Kopp if it has to be someone, as Dennis most nearly plays that position, and such a recent addition, but I don't love the "feel good" of this one. Going to get a little messy. Hope Chemistry stays on point.
Kopp could get a waiver since he is being asked to leave. Have they changed the rules because UCONN did this in 2011

It just makes sense. Why force out a local kid who lives and breaths IU.
Leal is leaving a dream, he’d cut off some toes to stay on this team. If that’s not good enough, he’d volunteer to be a manager

With Malik coming and then if Dennis is added as a 3 who gets a lot of minutes immediately, wouldn't it seem like JG would reconsider staying? I mean, the rumor is that he did consider moving closer to home the last 2 off-seasons.

I would think Dennis would massively cut into his possible playing time at the 3 if he comes. He would give IU exactly what JG would at the 3, right? An athletic wing.

Got to say, If Leal does this then he instantly becomes one of my favorite IU players ever. Just truly lives and breathes all things IU. I just hope he's not pushed out. That would not only be really bad form, but would also damage CMW with coaches throughout the state.

My guess/hope is this is a sign that either JG or TJD are gone. If TJD goes pro, JG stays. If he doesn't go pro, JG is gone.

Maybe Miller leaves if he think minutes will will be cut back compared to last year for him.
problem with Kopp (or..for Kopp?) is that he's already played his transfer card, and if it's true he doesn't graduate until Dec, he simply can't walk out of Bloomington in a few weeks and head to another school/team and be eligible in the fall semester. Some special circumstances have to occur.

He would get a “run-off” waiver

Dennis would give us what JG is weakest at, defense. In fact, he probably wouldn't even be getting a look from IU if he wasn't a lock-down defender. Every team needs that.

JG can get there and he shouldn't really even worry about competition. Just do what's needed to get on the court. But it's hard to argue with the staff doing everything they can to improve next year.

Has the Fred Glass Bill of Rights been repealed? I thought one of the main features of that deal was that athletes would stay on scholarship for four years unless they violate rules or leave voluntarily?

Don’t like the sound of that. Smells a lot like Creaning. I understand the need to improve the team next year, but running off a starter is not a good look. Especially a player who appears to keep his nose clean and is likely a decent student.
It is creaning. That is going to be a lot more common now with the new transfer rules.

Also, until Woodson gets his players there shouldn’t be an issue getting rid of players he didn’t recruit.

I hate to say this, but with the "no-sit" Transfer Portal and thousands of dollars that student are making with NIL (while receiving all the perks of being a college player), my views towards Creaning are changing. Anyone else feel the same?
