And I disagree. Like I said, IF it was agreed to tht the first new deal was a 'formality' and had no teeth, then Cig must have been still working to vet his potential candidates which is important, can't be left with weaker candidates because you're last... If it was signed and agreed to then Cig would've moved on to other important subjects, because for this year, his guy was STAYING.
So to say "I'm staying", Cig stops any efforts to have another guy on the line, and then a few important weeks later say 'maybe not, Penn State offered more', sucks.
But as you and 76 indicate, maybe that's not the way it went down. I sort of assume you're right because Cig seemed OK with it in public.
Of course he wouldn't want to restrict opportunities for his guys. No way, he's in their corner. But that's why signing the first deal mattered, IMO. Until it didn't.
