Breakout Prospect

Korbyn Dickerson, OF, Indiana
Few players have improved their draft stock in the first half of the season as much as Dickerson, who posted a .658 OPS in just 22 plate appearances as a freshman last year at Louisville. He transferred to Indiana last summer, and now the draft-eligible sophomore is making waves, hitting .355/.424/.742 with 13 homers and 46 RBIs. He’s also a game-changing defender in center field, and scouts have taken notice.

Our Burke Granger wrote this about Dickerson’s emergence a few weeks ago:
Jeff Mercer – who coached Hoosier's assistant and 2019 Rawlings Gold Glove recipient Zach Weatherford at Wright State – said Dickerson is as good defensively in center field as he’s ever seen.
Offensively, Mercer and company overhauled Dickerson’s swing, and he credited the redshirt sophomores coachability in buying into the change.

“There’s a couple things about him that’s been really special,” said Mercer. “One is his trust in us to say, ‘We’re going to change your swing entirely; we’re going to do an overhaul’. He was right there in the middle of it. His dad is a really good hitting coach, he was in there too as we all went on this journey together. The other is that he’s so coachable and applies it so quickly.”

Additionally, D1baseball came out with their latest Field of 64 projections and IU went from a No. 2 seed in their previous projections to being nowhere to be seen. There were four B1G teams in their projections and three of them were our west coast newcomers.

UCLA - No. 1 seed

Oregon - No. 2 seed

Iowa - No. 3 seed

USC - No. 3 seed
