He's amassing power at warp speed.

And he didn't get a single vote. Or face confirmation hearings. Or make financial disclosures. And who's providing the oversight? Trump? Well, that's reassuring.

Only in [our new] America.

No splashy headline, but the last article above might be the most troubling.

He is doing one heck of a job so far cutting bloated waste. And just think he is just getting started as we are only two weeks in!

Let's start with an easy one, bailey. Members of unelected/unvetted/unconfirmed Musk's DOGE team have been able to access classified information, including intelligence reports, without the requisite security clearance. Aren't you troubled by that? If not, why not?

I'll start with an easier one. Is what you accuse him of illegal?

Many people voted for this. Outside your echo chamber many people are dancing in the streets. True story.

And responses like this make it all the more enjoyable to witness.

Thanks man.

My Reuters echo chamber? Yeah, that’s it.

What’s your point? Of course many people voted for this. My point is that “this” is unlike anything I’ve seen before in this country, and never thought I would.

But I understand you got your strongman (or, more accurately, strongmen) regime, and all is well in MAGA land.

It’s interesting you have such a problem with Elon when we have no idea who had been running the country for the last 4 years. It certainly wasn’t Biden/Harris. But you never had an issue with potentially unelected individuals running our country during that time. So dumb.

The events of the last few weeks are unprecedented in the history of the United States, but your ridiculous false equivalence is duly noted.

We could save a lot of time in this and other threads if you guys simply conceded that you’re fine with authoritarian rule in the United States as long as Trump/Musk are the rulers.

I’ll say it again. If someone offered me the keys to the kingdom, I’d take them too.
Ok, but that doesn't answer my question. If someone handed me a slice of Casey's pizza, I'd eat it, but that has nothing to do with our conversation either.

I'll try again. Your words verbatim ----------> "Members of unelected/unvetted/unconfirmed Musk's DOGE team have been able to access classified information, including intelligence reports, without the requisite security clearance. Aren't you troubled by that? If not, why not?"

My question to you, again, is do you think your accusations of Musk's DOGE team are illegal?

he's not because he's not very smart, he is just a sponge for catch phrases

I presented facts. What did I accuse them of?

Ok, will go that direction. Are the facts you presented illegal? To be clear these are the presented facts I'm referring to --------> "Members of unelected/unvetted/unconfirmed Musk's DOGE team have been able to access classified information, including intelligence reports, without the requisite security clearance. Aren't you troubled by that? If not, why not?"

Also, you didn't present facts. You presented 2nd hand information that may or may not be true.

Have Trump/ Musk done anything to degrade the power of the Legislative and Judicial branch?

Seems to me the checks and balances are still there, same as they’ve ever been.

His accusations aren't illegal, but if the accusation is true than it is absolutely against the law.

Deep state is getting gutted. What great times we live in. Enjoy the show.

Probably not. It appears they were granted access by the co-president and, implicitly, by the president.

But let’s get real here. Nothing is illegal anymore if you’re acting on behalf of, or in support of, President Trump. And who the fvck would be willing to investigate and prosecute them anyway? Best case scenario you lose your job. Worst case you get sent to Gitmo or El Salvador or some other wonderful place.

I predict a lot of these responses to your post won't age well. They're giddy now, I believe there will be a time when it's clear that there has been clear overreach on Musk's part and/or he'll be on the outs with Trump and he'll make him a scapegoat/throw him under the bus for something. My hunch is that they're both keeping receipts and the twitter/X back and forth where they both lob insults and allegations at each other will be something to see.

This isn't some wishful thinking. This is a pattern Trump has followed with most business partners, board members, cabinet members and VPs all his life. It might not happen soon, but it'll happen before the end of his presidency.

Thanks for answering the question. This is why myself and others don't have issues with it. As long as it's legal, I want government drastically cut. I want corruption rooted out and exposed. I want a much much much smaller Federal government. I hope they go through DOD next and don't stop until they audit every department.

The part you guys are missing, is some people, actually do want smaller government. Is it ridiculous that Musk is doing it? Maybe, but our debt to GDP is 122%, total spending is 22-23% of GDP, and neither political party wants to damn a thing about it. I'l take what I can get, at this point.

I don’t know how this speaks directly to anything I’ve said. In any event, it’s been fun, boys, but I’ve got to get back to work. No buyout offer or forced resignation for me.
That’s what they are doing. USAID was the first thing they went thru.

You can go thru it yourself. Transparency. Or you can keep screaming about Musk.

Trump is hardly the first POTUS with a wildly expansive view of executive power.
Wilson, FDR, LBJ. Obama was also a fan of using the pen and the phone

I think it buggers people because he is using that power to tear stuff down rather than add headcount and agencies.

I agree, but I think there is a little more to it. A lot of moderates and leftist are being bombarded with information from their news sources, because the people DOGE are going after, don't like getting exposed or their funding cut. There is a subset (mostly older college educated white people) that haven't figure out they're receiving all noise from their preferred information sources and the rest of the country has stopped reading their sources or listening to them.

Personally, go ahead and go after all the corruption they want.

What I'm not cool with is personal info being in the hands of Elon and his crew, who many are barely out of high school.
That's my problem with it.
