Will Cignetti stick to his approach of "production over stars", or succumb to chasing stars with his newly found war chest?

I still think he'll preference production over potential when it comes to filling immediate/starting needs, but I do think you'll start to see the staff target younger guys with some potential who can add depth and develop. Still need to acquire talent to consistently win in this league. That, and I don't think retooling your roster every year is a sustainable method. Cig played it smart this year to build momentum out of the gate, but I don't think we're going to be able to replace 15,16 starters a year and keep the status quo. Will Cignetti stick to his approach of "production over stars", or succumb to chasing stars with his newly found war chest?

He'll probably end up getting higher ranked players but it won't have anything to do with the number of stars following their name.I still think he'll preference production over potential when it comes to filling immediate/starting needs, but I do think you'll start to see the staff target younger guys with some potential who can add depth and develop. To quote Cig…is that a serious question? Will Cignetti stick to his approach of "production over stars", or succumb to chasing stars with his newly found war chest?

Yes, I think it’s a great strategy, however I think to build an O-line he’s gonna need to do it through getting top high school recruits. The portal is likely not going to produce too many top lineman and if he gets a top performer from a small school it’s not an indicator of how he’d preform against top B1G linemen, since theirs likely a physical difference. On the other hand, good small school skill position players translate better and can perform well on a bigger stage. Will Cignetti stick to his approach of "production over stars", or succumb to chasing stars with his newly found war chest?

A mix of both approaches. He will do what he feels will give IU the best chance of winning. He is pragmatic.if it ain't broke don't fix it.
This is the answer.A mix of both approaches. He will do what he feels will give IU the best chance of winning. He is pragmatic.
And especially have those 15-16 already know the system.I still think he'll preference production over potential when it comes to filling immediate/starting needs, but I do think you'll start to see the staff target younger guys with some potential who can add depth and develop.
