With Jordan out...who will be the next coach at Butler? My guess is they already have their guy.

Heard Matta will leave IU and become Associate AD at Butler and take over for Barry when he retires.

Wonder if Fife was considered.

Fife’s career is on life support.

That’s what his alma mater did for him because he refused to resign.
Stupid take, but not surprising considering the source. Fife's career at MSU will earn him far more consideration for other jobs than any possible damage from a one-year stop at Indiana that proved to be a bad fit.
I don't know that Butler won't hire him, but I don't see anything about Fife that gives him a leg up on anyone else BU might be considering. The fact that he played at IU 20 years ago probably doesn't mean diddly-squat to Barry Collier, and he has no actual connection to Butler ( beyond the one year in the same program as Matta). There are dozens of assistants from successful programs like MSU looking for head coaching gigs, so I don't see anything that would set him apart. Given that it's a P5 level position, I expect Butler to either hire someone who has been a successful HC at a mid-major level, or someone with direct connections to the school ( although Jordan's lack of success may dampen that enthusiasm a bit).

Lots of good prospects will find Butler an attractive job, many of them with better resume's than Dane Fife. All that said, I expect Fife to land a good job and I hope he does well. It's too bad things didn't work out at IU but in the end, every head coach ( including Dane Fife if he becomes one again) has an absolute right to hire assistants of his choosing who fit his vision for the program. Far too much has been made of this situation and some of the political takes have been sheer nonsense.

Kennel blindness often causes people to reach stupid and irrational conclusions - just as trolling a rival team's message board emboldens the worst kind of idiot.

Well, we shall see.

The post firing “leaks” from the IU side were unnecessary. Time will tell whether they sabotaged Fife’s career.

Damn well put. Fife will end up just fine and Butler will do better than Jordan.

Needs to change his stance on NIL first, before anyone is going to want him. He got into a heated discussion over NIL with a recruit who was visiting IU and by the end of the visit the recruit withdrew IU from consideration. He brought all this stuff on himself.

It would be great to see Dane at Butler, but they will need to have a Coach with successful HC experience at a mid or high major. Big East is a tall order for that program.

Dane will be just fine but not likely in Hinkle. Hope i am wrong.

If said recruit was weighing his NIL opportunities as much or more than the program, why is hell would said program want the kid? At days end, culture cannot be built with NIL as a primary selling point.

Well, it’s been reported that he’s dead set against NIL in any form. That’s not gonna cut it with the type of kids IU wants to attract. I guess that’s the potential downside of wanting to be a top program again.

You are talking a lot of shit for a fan of a team that has lost to North Texas and St Peter’s in the last two years.
I’m not talking ****. I’m telling you the truth about how the Fife firing has been handled. The IU sound machine took him down after Fife refused to forego $375k in salary. Those are facts.

You compared IU to Grand Valley State, and you think you aren’t talking shit? Run back to GBI and circle jerk about what a great and successful season you had.

No, lU fans compared IU to Grand Valley State when several of them argued that Fife’s career won’t take a hit because of this.

If Fife ends up an assistant coach at a mid major, and IU fans argue that his career didn’t take a significant body blow, then the mid major gig must be on par with the IU gig. Get it? It’s not me, it’s you.
