Bet we lose ...

Yes, we should have won, but I figured we'd lose based on ineptitude of coaching … what's that difficult to understand about that. We played bad and nearly did lose, you see positives in that performance? I had a bad feeling about it and for good reason, this team is not playing well and it showed
I just hate this slow down the game defense as a system. A good coach would coach to the team they have, or if is a system, recruit intentionally towards that … aka Syracuse, how many times have they got it going late when nobody saw it coming? They may struggle early, but when it comes together it works because it was recruited for to work. Ours really just looks like going through the motions of trying to force something on players that weren't recruited for it. Sometimes it works, the other half of the time, it doesn't, hence our outcomes.

Point being, if you go into UW with a defense designed to slow down UW, your playing right into their hands

The fr/so were recruited for it and playing well within in
One game, that we looked horrible in and should have easily won. I'll double down and predict Archie won't be the coach of IU in 2 years … my odds of winning that one are great. Why? Sad for us, but because we have sub-par recruiting being heralded as stars, bad coaching, bad play, and this team will stink it up come conference almost guaranteed after getting smoked by a bad UW. We pay 3.5M for that and after another prolonged losing streak, some people of importance will start to take notice after 3 years of it. Want to take me up on that one?

Sub-par recruiting?

He stated inside-out, focus on Indiana first. He has signed 2+ players from the state in his first 3 cycles (including 2020 class). There have been only two Indiana misses Brooks and Henry. Henry was impacted by Anderson acceptance so tough to call it a miss.

The other two high profile recruits IU was deeply involved with were Carton and Garcia. Carton had immediate / guaranteed start / playing time for OSU at point, IU had Phinisee a class ahead. Carton made the best call for him. Tough to know impact of brooks yet but he plays a position that so far has not been iu’s weakness (plenty of players at the 2-4).

Learning the pack line takes time, people knew that coming in, defensive progress has been made each season. Offensively Archie has been asking to push at every opportunity, point guards help with that, ours has been hurt this season, Al has tried in spurts but point is not his natural position. Meanwhile still 9-1, getting healthier and good chance to go 12-1 before conference.

FYI, take point guards off most good teams, you will see a lot of surprising/disappointing losses. (Phinisee/Wisconsin).

All true, but we seem to be celebrating role player type recruiting class, and in reality we are 2-1 against real competition. Lots of players seem to be constantly ill here, concussions, etc, beyond the norm. It's odd for as little effort as we seem to bring on the road. The other thing I don't like is the packline system, if it would be better for your roster to play man or zone, do it. He's on a short leash, makes me wonder if he actually knows how to coach to what you have or he just trusts in a gimmick defense that he doesn't have the roster to execute consistently. Don't get me wrong, it can be very effective, but if you have to re-learn it every year ...

Get old and stay hold will eventually reduces the learning curve. Next year, they will be very strong defensively.

We are 2-1 against real competition, no argument. ND, Arkansas are two more and then plenty in conference. If IU is 12-1 going into conference and goes 10-8 in conference (given the depth of big ten quality, road wins will be tough). Then look for 1-2 wins in btt, opening round win in ncaa, and you have a 24/25 win season. Plus two available scholarships for spring to likely help compliment the 2020 class. It would demonstrate progress and progress built on a foundation which should yield consistency in the long term. If this team stays healthy (big if the last couple of years) but is less than 12-1 going into conference and less than .500 in conference, then I think a deeper evaluation on this regime is merited.

That's actually the most intelligent response I've seen on here in a while, and I agree, at least your not threatening to try to screw my wife as did some a-hole in another thread. It's funny to me, he sounded as if he had gender identity issues and I sincerely hope, as I recall, we didn't have to put address info in when signing up 15 years ago, but also scary that people get that weird.

You’re HurryinHoosiers too? How many names do you use?
One, get a life. I'm lucky I get that one, I'm the original MightyHoosier from Star board days, some dude stole it from me around 2005 after I was banned for bitching about MD, but I'm back in black since Peegs folded … so there, god's honest truth. That doesn't mean I'm going to Archie worship or bitch any less than I did then, I'm passionate about IU BBall and will express my opinions in a forum designed for that purpose

Good deal, but you took great offense to something not directed at you. I think you have more than one name here. Trolls usually do.

No, I don't. Sorry, if that doesn't fit your narrative, I barely have enough time to get on here every once in a while, let alone pretending to be someone else for whatever reason you think I would … your crazy

The other guy also doesn’t know the difference between “your” and “you’re.” That could be a coincidence because others are weak with grammar and punctuation here too. Taking great offense and replying to a post not directed to you could just be a random occurrence as well. Others here aren’t smart enough to understand how the board works. You may or may not have just one name, but I doubt it. The Negative Nancies and trolls routinely show up with new and/or multiple names and continue with their IU bashing crap. You fit the profile.

You should like him, he hates me for reasons I have long forgot. Don’t recognize his sn, but he has replied to me and talked about me in multiple threads now with out me engaging with him once. I must have gave him a good one liner months or years ago, tends to happen.

Just have a bad feeling on this one. I don't know much about UCONN other than they usually out match us recently and they're becoming resurgent while we spin tread. Just feels ominous and I saw what I saw the other night against sub-par competition. I'll bet we fold, unless this team plays close to perfectly as a team, we are no good. There's no consistent go-to for points to bail us out, it just is what it is, we will suck every time out without solid team play.
That sure was a bad prediction.

lmao .. you have no clue what our defense does, do you?

Slow down the game defense? WTF is that?

Is it a variation of the Leopard System that Crean is running or did you just make something up no one has ever heard of before, because you're dumb?

Ha ha ha .. Slow down game defense ... .

That's the dumbest thing I've seen written here in a week. My god how stupid can some of you be? And why do you display your ignorance so willfully and blatantly?

You are able to keep track of the people that hate you! Impressive!
FWIW, I don’t hate you. Disappointed in you most of the time, disgusted occasionally, but don’t hate you. I still have hope for you as a poster.

Role player type recruiting? You call two Mr. Indiana McD players in two years "role player type recruiting"? Wow.
Romeo and Trayce were/are role players... yeah.
