I will for sure get an "allotment" - problem with 18th is that they don't announce allotments in advance. I'll snag what I can and will share as I'm able.
Do you know when they are releasing it?

Nope. Like other matters 18th - it's on the hush hush.Do you know when they are releasing it?

Soooooooo ..... over lunch, I randomly stop in my local beverage store. I walk in the door, my buddy at the store sees me and says, "I've got something for you." Goes to the backroom, comes back with this .....

That's Double Dry Hopped Pseudo Sue. Only way to differentiate it from regular Sue bombers is the "DOUBLE CITRA" notation above the bottle date. I told my guy I'd buy as many as he'd allow me to buy (for sharing purposes), but he only got 12, so 2 is the best I could do. If this made its way to Mankato, it's probably available in Wisconsin, so if any of my fellow beer nerds here in the greatest thread EVAR have beer hook-up in Wiskie, you may want to hit them up. Happy hunting, boys.
I'll be doing so too. Just visited my cousin and her husband who live in Tipp City, a couple months ago. Probably taking the kids next time and hitting up Wright Patterson and Kings Island. Thanks for the tip. My Mom and 2 sisters and baby bro live in Dayton, so I'm in Ohio at least once or twice a year. I'll look Land Grant up.
Hopsoulution is excellent, IMHO. From what you type here, sounds like you'd like it - a lot.

Agreed 100%. That's why I didn't rush out to get this when it hit.
you fellas just let me know when you can make it!I am SOOOOOOOOOO up for hanging out with you guys at Hoban's place. Let me know a time and I'll be there.
You will be the first to know when that trip is planned.you fellas just let me know when you can make it!
That's a very gracious offer of you. What the heck are you doing slumming over here anyway?you fellas just let me know when you can make it!
I invited him. It's like I invited Bela Lugosi into the castle. That's a very gracious offer of you. What the heck are you doing slumming over here anyway?
Due, when did you turn into The Galloping Gourmet?Had this while grilling some chicken breasts on the bone, sriracha chicken sausages and chicken gyro sausages. Made a slaw with broccoli stems, carrot, onion, dried cranberry and turkey bacon. Used mayo, apple cider vinegar, spicy pickles , dijon mustard, minced garlic, chili flakes and basic seasonings as a side. It needs to sit at least 90 minutes because I used my mandolin to slice the stems and carrot into chip shapes and the acid needs to break down the fibers in the broccoli stems.

If I had the stones/cash I'd quite my "good" job and open my own joint. I am in debt to Mr. Sam so I'll go to work tomorrow and continue to a whore to the taxes.Due, when did you turn into The Galloping Gourmet?

Dammit I was just getting ready to tell these fine folks this same story. For those interested, the 18th St Hunter Chili release will be this coming Saturday at 12:00 at the Gary taproom.
I've heard that the allotment will be limited to 2 per person, which sucks to the extent that my shareability will be limited.

Thanks for thinking of us beer nerds but don't worry about it. I grabbed a Pipeworks Chipotle smoked the other day. That should scratch that itch. For those interested, the 18th St Hunter Chili release will be this coming Saturday at 12:00 at the Gary taproom.

That sounds about right for FFF. They're known for not being very nice. I'll just leave it at that.I'm in Chicago and stopped at a Binny's between appointments. They had just received a shipment of Half Acre Beer Hates Astronauts, so I grabbed a couple of bombers, plus a 6er of Stone Enjoy By 07.04.16, a 6er of Spiteful IPA, and a 4-pack of Ten Fidy.
Have I told you guys lately how much I love being a beer nerd?
One other note: when I was driving over to Chicago yesterday, I pulled up the Three Floyd's "Beer To Go" list and saw they had Zombie Dust cases to go. Because a trip to 3F's would add 2 hours+ of drive time to my day, I called to ask if they had an adequate supply so I wouldn't show up at 5 pm-ish and get the "we just ran out" speech. The young lady that answered said, "I don't know how much we've got - you'll just have to come on over and see if we still have it."
"Can you check and see how much you've got?"
"No."
Um, okay. Thanks but no thanks. So I made the stop at Binny's today. They'd received a case today around noon and sold it in an hour. Buncha beer-truck-chasin' goofs. I'll head home tomorrow and enjoy the Astronaut.

Mrs. O and I went to 3F's 3 years ago, bought a TON of beer to go, and ate and drank in the brewpub. The employees were all very nice. The young lady on the phone a couple of days ago? Not so much. That sounds about right for FFF. They're known for not being very nice. I'll just leave it at that.
Yep, I can get Todd The Axe Man from Surly pretty much any time (since they seem to have made it a semi-year-round beer - we'll see), and Todd is miles better than ZD, IMHO. I was going to go for Little O (who loves ZD) and my beer store buddy (who helps me get hard-to-secure stuff like Surly's BA Darkness), but after that little exchange, I pulled the pin on that idea. Usually, when I'm charming, I get what I'm asking for (ask Mrs. O), but that lady shot me down like a wounded duck, then crapped on my corpse.FFFs are giant asses. I rarely buy their stuff anymore (I do love PF, but rarely see it). ZD is good, but not any better than stuff you can easily get up your way.

This is the correct answer. And, the people that answer the phone (which is in the pub) have no clue how much is left of anything in the kiosk - its two entirely different operations.Unfortunately for you, you were probably the 100th (at least) call she had taken to that point asking the same question....doesn't excuse rudeness but would explain unwillingness to go and check again....
I wasn't pissed at all - but I was surprised at the flat, "No." It's a 75-foot walk to the kiosk (at least it was when I was there), but I understand that they can't do that for everyone that calls, and they probably get a ton of calls. I was just a bit surprised at the brusqueness of the reply, that's all. This is the correct answer. Ok - yeah, it seems pretty simple that someone could have gone the extra mile, and walked around the bend and asked - how much is left? And, I understand that it seems a simple question, but its really not. So, they tell O that they some left, or how much, and he makes the trip and still gets shut out? I bet that they have been told to just say they don't know. Its the only safe answer, especially now when we're "in season" and every other car in the parking lot will be from somewhere other than Indiana.
Larger point, 3 Floyds has the reputation of being assholes, and maybe where there's smoke there's fire? But, I've never had a bad time there. Have I not been able to get in? Yes. (In fact, I take credit for coining the phrase Door Nazi, because Phil could be an ass at the door before they moved him inside the compound.) Have I gone there for ZD or whatever and gotten shut out? Yes. But so it goes.
I would bet that half the time, people are just pissed that they didn't get what they wanted, when they wanted it. (Not saying that's O's take, but there are some sandy beer ginas out there.)
I've heard great things about that Beer Hates Astronauts. It's supposed to hit Peoria in very limited quantities today, but I probably won't get a chance to buy it. I should have bought it at Half Acre Sunday when I ate lunch at the Bad Apple right across the street from the brewery. Wasn't able to because I was taking my 4 year old to his first Cubs game and we didn't want to miss Arrietta's first pitch. So it goes.I wasn't pissed at all - but I was surprised at the flat, "No." It's a 75-foot walk to the kiosk (at least it was when I was there), but I understand that they can't do that for everyone that calls, and they probably get a ton of calls. ..... which was spectabulous, so my beer nerdery was once again sated.
I did feel a bit sorry, though, for the Mom that showed up at Binny's, asking first to see the 3F's beers, then asking (wait for it) ..... for Zombie Dust for her son. She only missed by 5 hours.
I did direct her to the lone bomber of Dreadnaught that they had left, with a bottle date of 5/27/16, so the young man had a better beer (IMHO) anyway. Beer it forward, beer nerds, beer it forward.

Saving up for my first trip to your brewpub. I may need to take out a small business loan when I make that trip.Neither of those beers look like a Ten Ninety...
It is pleasing to see you have your priorities straight. Beer is ..... just beer, but taking your child to see the Cubs and Arrietta ..... priceless.I've heard great things about that Beer Hates Astronauts. Bottle shares are great. I meet with a group of locals that formed a group through BA, and we get together once a month. It was a bit awkward at first, but now its a really comfortable group of guys who just talk about whatever, and drink great beer. The guys in my group have some serious trading acumen, and some of the stuff they bring in blows my mind.It is pleasing to see you have your priorities straight. Beer is ..... just beer, but taking your child to see the Cubs and Arrietta ..... priceless.
The due at Binny's that I chatted up were talking whalez a bit, and he said a guy in his "bottle share group" (that concept still cracks me up - don't know why, but it does) brought a bottle of ..... something that I can't remember that he purchased online for $700. SEVEN. HUNDRED. DOLLARS. That is a traveshamockery.
BTW, you have mail.
