Came home to find a package at the front door. I think this is a good sign of a solid weekend.
I thought it has a great nose and a pretty sweet note for being a lambic. It wasn't as good as the Pawpaw but a great sour nonetheless.
I picked up Chillwave this week, too. I agree - one of my favorite beers. Having it tonight whilst grilling steaks.Just picked up a 4 pack of Chillwave from Great Lakes. DIPA with mosaic hops -- one of my favorite beers. Also a Curmudgeon from Founders...one of the few offerings from them I've yet to try.
The store also had a couple of beers from Flying Dog that looked interesting: A beer from their single hopped series -- Single Hopped HBC-291. Supposed to be some new hop...anyone tried it yet? Also had a Mango/Habanero beer I thought about, but after trying this year's Mango Magnifico, I'm not sure I want to go there.

Mrs. O and I are heading to the Minnesota Craft Beer Festival next weekend in MSP .....Grabbed a 4 pack of Chillwave as well. Good. Not great but I do enjoy it and I'm glad I picked it up.
Got a 6 pack of Lagunitas' new monster 11.5% IIPA Waldo's Special Ale. Holy crap. It reminds me a bit of Sucks on steroids and HGH. Nice and tropical, but balanced by some sweetness and dankness. It's not boozy despite the high octane, and it definitely has the typical Lagunitas house yeast profile. Pick it up if you see it, especially at $11.99 or so for a 6 pack.
Our big local craft beer fest was today. I was planning on going is my wife and kids were going to get out of town. However, after my daughter came into our bedroom yesterday morning and puked all over our bed plans changed. I ended up going to my sons soccer game instead since they were in town. I will make up for it by heading up to one of my favorite English pubs and beer bars in town here in a little bit for dinner.

U R a ra-tard.The ribeye looks OK.That piece of shit backing up the trailer park is pathetic.
It's my favorite glass. By a lot.Oh, and nice glass. I love those.
Nothing too interesting at the Fox, my local, tonight. I had a solid Perrenial saison and a Central Waters Illumination IIPA with my fried fish sammich. Everything was solid and enjoyable though.
That sucks. Sorry you got stung, Phish.Just cracked my only 2015 Bourbon County Barleywine and it is so infected it tastes almost like the ****ing lambic I had from Upland yesterday.
I got lucky. Almost all of this year's BW's here were reportedly infected. One of mine might have been, but I drink it right away so it wasn't that noticeable. The other one was fantastic but not as good as I remember from last year. Central Waters Bourbon barrel aged barleywine is still on shelves here and is a pretty good replacement.Just cracked my only 2015 Bourbon County Barleywine and it is so infected it tastes almost like the ****ing lambic I had from Upland yesterday.
That's a lot of beer, right there - it's at least 11% abv. A local place here is a "pour-your-own" joint - you get like a credit card, and then you can pick and choose between any one of their 20 taps, and as you drink, the balance on the card decreases. This is magnificent. Approaches triple IPA territory.

11.5%. Halfway through my second bottle and it is whippin' my buttocks. If it had a little less burn, I would have a 3rd.That's a lot of beer, right there - it's at least 11% abv. Well, this beer was on tap on last week, and there were a couple of guys pouring full 16 oz pours of this, and this after they had already had at least a few pints of other brews. I cautioned them that this was a big ass beer, and got the "well we can handle it" line of misguided thinking, but that's advanced drinking right there.
I liked it alot, though. Complex, balanced, and loads of flavor. A really solid effort from Lagunitas.
I loved Yellow Rose.I'm too lazy to take a pic of my beer choices tonight, but I'm enjoying a great IPA night.
Started with the bomber of Yellow Rose that I got in trade - world class IPA. Loved it. Want more, but only had the one bottle (and I shared that with the better half). Sad, sad, sad. So, because I'm a flipping genius, and felt bad for myself, I went for the back-to-back home run - opened a can of Lawson's Sip of Sunshine.
Speaking of the better half, this one I am drinking solo, because when I got home from appointments yesterday afternoon, the better half says to me - so I had one of those Sips or whatever they're called while getting the grill going. Ouch - that one stung, I'll admit it (I only had three cans of it). Kind of like the time she says to me, as I'm calling in from some gawd foresaken place on bidness trip, that she liked the KBS or something or other (the one bottle that was carefully stashed in the deepest recesses of the beer fridge). SMDH, but I loves her to death, so wuts a guy to do?
Nonetheless - its a great beer night. Watching the Cubs vs the F'n Cards, and the Hawks come on at 8:30. Yes, I remain committed to the Indian.
Damnit O. You talked me into cracking open a Waldo's of my own. I'm watching the Cubs, and it's a Chicago Brew, so why not? It is delicious.11.5%. Halfway through my second bottle and it is whippin' my buttocks. If it had a little less burn, I would have a 3rd.
And then sleep until 2 pm tomorrow.
This is a big boy beer.
Vallejo is the real deal.Damnit O. You talked me into cracking open a Waldo's of my own. I'm watching the Cubs, and it's a Chicago Brew, so why not? It is delicious.
I made a tremendous discovery tonight. Kroger's beer selection generally sucks. They have SA, some Sierra, some Stone and Lagunitas but that's about it. Tonight I noticed they have several different Half Acre 4 packs. I grabbed another Vallejo West Coast IPA. Damn that's a tasty beverage.
Thai PA is great. Double Thai PA is awesome. Bare Hands does some pretty good chit. Westy is not bad at all. BTW I see 18th Street is Indy distro now. Buy all of it... at least try everything that you see. Amazing beer fo shizzle.Just picked up a couple 4 packs from bare hands brewing...they just started distributing to indy. Grabbed some Westy and thai.p.a.
Im looking forward to trying some bare hands...how is it?
Btw....parti-pak liquors on 96th is absolutely legit for craft beer selection...wow.

$18 for a Bomber of Devils Conclave is not worth it. $18 for BA Hunter and all of its variants are worth it if you haven't tried them IMO.Yep...i picked up some sex and candy from 18th st today as well. And some evil czech voodoo.
The only 18th st that ive had is devils conclave....good stuff. So ridiculous expensive though. 18 bucks for a bomber of anything is stupid.

I agree with you for the most part. Not too strictly though. Sometimes I'll pay $18 or whatever for a bomber once to try it. If it blows me away I might buy it again for a special occasion. For the most part though I can find 4 packs or 6 packs that are as good or better than the bombers for significantly less. Regardless, $18 isn't much for a decent bottle of wine, and I'd usually rather have the beer. So it really depends on the beer and the brewery for me, but I've probably only paid that much for a single beer a couple dozen times.I'm fairly beer geeky, but I'm not sure any bomber of anything is worth $18. On a per ounce basis that translates to $59 a six pack. I've never had a beer that special or unique that it was worth such a price, even if someone else is paying. Heck, even regular priced bombers (~$10) are a ripoff when you do the math. Sucker packaging (bombers, 4-packs) is really limiting what I'll drink anymore. I love beer, but dammit it's just beer.
I realize this won't be a popular sentiment here.
