Yes and yes. Send it home, Jerome!!!Funny, nearly went with this one as my second tonight. Decided instead to do some beer fridge clean out. So far I've also had a Blood of the Unicorn from Pipeworks and a Bengali from Six Point.
Off topic, I've got a beer from Charlotte queued up to get sent off to you as a thanks for the PseudoSue. Would you also be interested in a Crimson Snapper from Pipeworks?
Yes and yes. Send it home, Jerome!!!
Should have left this Huma Lupa Licious in the beer fridge. Just not very good.
That's a good description. I'm not in a hurry to try more of their stuff.I've had a couple of Short's beers, the Huma Lupa Licious in bottles, and the Space Cakes on draft. These just started showing up in Indiana. There's just something a little off in these beers that I can't exactly describe. I'll finish the bottles, they're not terrible. There's just an off flavor in them that kind of reminds me of home brews made by guys with lousy local water.
in the only facking thread on the AOTF that people actually follow the rules on the new stupid format.
For the record, 3 Floyds is still kicking ass.
Yes, as their production increased they started distributing more of some of their staples, namely Gumballhead, and yes, even Zombie Dust, to a wider market. Cripes, I've been able to walk in to FFFs on a Tuesday evening twice in the last month and there was tons of Zombie Dust, and no line. So, its basically that when you can't get something, you want it more. And now that you can get it easily, why rush to buy? The other side of the coin is that there is, as PhinMatt says, a lot of other really good stuff being brewed all over, and so there's more real competition.
I guess I have a different perspective on Floyds, because I can go there regularly, and get to drink the stuff that they only sell in the pub, and that doesn't reach distribution. Case in point was Quaanto, a Triple IPA - basically Permanent Funeral on steroids. Ridiculously good. There's always great things on at the bar or on sale to go in the kiosk that you'll never see in Indy, unfortunately.
And my last comment is that Gumballhead should revert back to being a seasonal beer. When it first came out, it was only available from like April to September, and then poof! it was gone. It is a tremendous summer beer, but for some reason I just don't care for it in the winter.
Surly jumps into the "session APA/IPA" arena with both feet, an arm, and half their melon .....
This will be a mega-lawnmower beer - loads of Citra aromas and flavors, but l-i-g-h-t (which a sessionable beverage is, by definition). If it was 90 degrees outside and I'd just finished mowing my lawn, I'd be gargling with this stuff. For an hour.

Alpha King. This is a solid point. No idea why it's so hard for everyone else, but well done beer nerds.
Back when nobody could get FFF stuff easily and I was getting a keg of Zombie Dust for my neighbor's kegerator every couple months I used to laugh at people trying to get FFF stuff. Now that I'm in Canada-lite, they are very provincial about that breweries and I miss some of the FFF staples. I'm within walking distance to probably close to 1,000 taps (many of them featuring the same thing) and would probably have to call around to find Robert the Bruce, Zombie Dust, or the other popular ipa (forget the name). c'est la vie...
The citrus stuff is getting out of hand. Some are pretty decent. Potosi Brewing has a tangerine one that surprisingly isn't bad but tastes like something somebody that liked flavored alcohol might like. Potosi makes a good plain old ipa called Snake Hollow. reminds me of Ranger.
Nice! Here's our tentative lineup for tomorrow. Actually that's without whatever I take down to Fountain Square. May go non stout to break that up with some fruits, sours or fresh IPA.

Alpha King.
Citra is SOOOOO 2014. Mosaic is where it's at.

Yo Hoops .....
..... this really good. A majestic malt bomb.
I've had my eye on that and a few others from there in recent visits to the bottle shop. That's probably lower on my priority list than some of their others, but I need to pull the trigger on some of their stuff.
The Rye IPA is damn tasty. The Russian Imperial is also damn tasty.
Saucy Intruder is the real deal.Love Rye IPAs...have become my fav choice when they are available. I'll look for it.
I'm actually making my first HB Rye IPA tomorrow, based upon my enjoyment of Black Acres' Saucey Intruder. I've been meaning to for a month or two but just now getting around to it.
Also really want to do a milk stout (probably with vanilla). They aren't my go to style, I'm a hop head, but I love having one at the end of an evening. A bit of sweet with some coffee / chocolate flavor, and only 5% or so? Perfect nightcap.
*sigh*Yeah...Alpha King...good beer. I'm an IPA sort of fellow. What's Mosaic?
Mosaic is the Ben Affleck's nanny of hops.Mosaic is like cheating. 3 or 4 hops in 1.
I've only had that on draft a couple times. Yes. It's tremendous. But I still prefer KBS. By a bit. But I didn't get any yesterday as I was on a day trip to St Louis with the family yesterday. I'm sure I'll get some at some point though.
Hmmm. I wouldn't know. Never heard of it. If you wanted to send some my way for my lucky a$$ fluke victory over you I'd accept.I have 13 and 14 KBS left. Meh I love them but this BCBCS has again set the bar.
From a coffee stout perspective I think one of the best I've had is Barrel Aged Four Fathers Wheelhouse 2015. I only got a sample but HOLY SHIT was it good.

Did you still get coffee from that '14? I would think it would have faded by now....?
Coffee has faded but it I think the more subtle coffee only added to the complexity
good shit ...
Housewarming. They also popped 5 loons.Nice lineup. Had that Maple Bacon Porter in line at DLD last year. Good stuff. As is a lot of the others....what is going on today that you are having such a bottle share?
Just had Mosaic Promise last night, and you're correct, IMHO. Lizard King, when fresh, is world-class. Mosaic Promise was very enjoyable, but LK is Slap Ya Mamma good.IMO lizard king is at least 2 levels above Mosaic Promise
I get a lot of good brewing info from you. How did your MP compare to the real deal?FFF is the brewer that got me into home brewing.
Because it was great beer, and it was
1) ridiculously hard to get
2) ridiculously expensive ($15 sixers of gumball, $14 bombers of everything else)
I started out doing clones of gumball and zombie dust, and have basically nailed them after a few tries.
I can make 5 gallons of GBH for $23, and ZD for about $30. I've blind tasted them with neighbors, friends, etc, and at least 50% of the time they prefer mine.
Now I'm kinda over them, as I've done them so many times. I haven't nailed down the PF, as those big beers are a lot tougher....but I've gotten close.
Hank is a great brewer on here, and he pushed me towards the Mosaic Promise, which was probably the most popular beer I've ever made...one that appeals to hop heads and regular beer drinkers.
Excellent -- I had the non-coffee version a few weeks ago. Almost on par with KBS.

I've got a ZD clone that should be ready to crack open this weekend. The uncarbonated taste test was pretty good.
Akari Shogun is their wheat beer, I believe. I've probably had it, but I don't remember anything other than merely good. Of course I'm not a big fan of that style, but if you are maybe you'd love it. Since Half Acre distributes here now I'm sure I'll pick some up when I see it, and I'm sure I'll enjoy it on a hot summer day.Half Acre fans......I have a kind lawyer sending us some of our choice. I've only had Gone Away, which is very good. I know Daisy Cutter will be requested....but he mentioned some others I know nada about.
Akari? Pony?
I never saw that anywhere. I can't imagine it's an improvement on the original but I'd love to try for myself. I have one Xocoveza left. Damn. There's a reason Stone is one of the best breweries in the world. This beer (and the base beer and the charred iteration) is why.
I ordered it (and the Char version) from California.I never saw that anywhere. I can't imagine it's an improvement on the original but I'd love to try for myself. I have one Xocoveza left. Damn.
