If he were to be hired here, his background and how IU was okay with it would get brought up by every journalist, and that is not something IU wants, fair or unfair to Beard. It's fine, lots of other coaches out there.

It would seem there would have been full scrutiny in Austin. It’s hard to read the full article with all the freaking ads but everyone should read it all before making judgments.
The charges were dismissed because the victim wouldn't cooperate. She reported to police that he strangled her from behind, hit her, and bit her. When police arrived, the bite marks and bruising were visible. Without the witness cooperating, there was not enough evidence to get a conviction so the DA dismissed charges.
IMO, her original story is likely the truth.

The fiancee of suspended Texas coach Chris Beard said Friday that Beard did not strangle her and was acting in self-defense from her.
and that whatever happened he acted in self defense.
In Austin, if there was evidence and she refused to testify, they would likely proceed if just a reasonable chance of conviction.
