Beard

If he were to be hired here, his background and how IU was okay with it would get brought up by every journalist, and that is not something IU wants, fair or unfair to Beard. It's fine, lots of other coaches out there.

I actually think Pam would be cool with it. Her bed-wetting detractors, not so much.
Maybe. But hiring a guy that made a mistake and promised not to it again didn't work out. I want a coach with no baggage and there is no need to have ties to what used to be IU basketball.

gator,
I nominated you in a different post for having the best pre season prediction on this board. You deserve an award for stating just before the season started that we would be lucky to win 20 games with Woodson on the bench in spite of a soft schedule. Props.

I didn't say any of those things. There are plenty of coaches that can win at IU without a history of cheating or being arrested. Grow up.
Would you have taken Coach K from Duke? You do realize he had baggage too......right? Painter has baggage. I think I'm sufficiently grown up. These aren't saints we are dealing with.....they are egos who are driven to succeed.

I take no pleasure in it…

If this type of charge was dropped in Austin it was rightfully dropped.

The charges were dismissed because the victim wouldn't cooperate. She reported to police that he strangled her from behind, hit her, and bit her. When police arrived, the bite marks and bruising were visible. Without the witness cooperating, there was not enough evidence to get a conviction so the AD dismissed charges.

IMO, her original story is likely the truth.

In Austin, if there was evidence and she refused to testify, they would likely proceed if just a reasonable chance of conviction.
