Banning (really banning) teaching of CRT in higher education is wrong and unconstitutional

If it was true that psychiatry equal racism but that is bs
You’re mis-representing the truth just as certain conservatives here mis-represent CRT. Certain important exponents of psychiatry were advocates of eugenics. They were named in the video by university professors who don’t embarrass themselves with nonsense as anonymous posters do on the internet. Tell me anything from that video that was not factually correct.

I didn't watch the video because acting like an entire profession is racist is bull shit

I don’t represent the documentary. It was professionally done. Anyway, if you’re not interested in the truth about psychiatry and eugenics, that’s your choice. I posted it for anyone who is.

As to your concern, I doubt Gerd believes in eugenics.

Truth because it is on the internet? Lmao

Yep, that was me. I choose to be inspired by history, not depressed by it. The story of those who overcome obstacles to do great things, or even not so great things, is much more valuable than the story if those who are beaten by it. Both stories are relevant and should be learned and understood. But if living a full and satisfying life is part of the purpose of a well-rounded education, being inspired by history is not a misunderstanding.
If the history you read always inspires you, you are not reading all of history. History, like all of us, is complicated. It can be inspiring, it can be painful, it can be embarrassing, it can be joyful.

Eva Kor led a great life. If one limits their Holocaust history only to people like Kor I guess they can be inspired. But then we must purposely not read Anne Frank for there is nothing about Anne Frank's story that is inspiring.

There you go again. You take my point and stretch it so you can post a rubuttal.

My point is that there is much about history that is inspirational. Millions of people are being taught to ignore that and choose a different view. Take American slavery. We are taught that original sin garbage and not taught that the states began outlawing slavery before the Revolutionary War ended. Thomas Jefferson was a hugely inspirational figure and kept slavery from expanding into America’s new territories. But millions of people choose to be so disgusted by him that they hide his likeness and take his name off of buildings.

Inspiration and despair are not imposed on anybody. They are a choice. I choose differently than you.

Jefferson is one example, how about Andrew Jackson? Are you inspired by him?

I am a realist, I don't want to pretend anyone (Jefferson, Lincoln) were perfect. They are human. We can be happy in what they did right and express dissatisfaction at what they did wrong. But you can continue on in the theory that if no one ever discussed slavery then it never happened. Like I said elsewhere, let us apply that to crime. Biden has eliminated crime because I don't think we should ever talk about it.

What does this even mean? I never said anything like that. I think you are making stuff up again. I did say that the “original sin” talking point is a pile of hot garbage and casts a pall over an event that inspired the world. New World Slavery ended 160 years ago for some, ended 240 years for others and in between for others. Abolition was the dominant domestic issue until the civil war. History tells us we finished slavery. Teaching history to kids shows them slavery is a current event. Some people take comfort in racism for different reasons.

Oh, Jackson does not cause me curl into a fetal position and hate white people.

all this non stop race ridiculousness isn't about race at all.

and about keeping the working class fighting each other, instead of their real enemy. (a tactic that's been hugely successful for the rich for over 100 yrs).

it's about keeping the idiocracy from concentrating and voting the real issues that greatly affect their lives, and keep them voting race and other social issues that have virtually zero effect on their lives relative to the big stuff that never gets talked about in the CORPORATE media.

making life better for the rich just isn't a great message to get votes, so the Pubs and DNC funders, for whom that's their real agenda, have to keep the idiocracy engaged elsewhere 24/7/365 decade after decade.

and the idiocracy never fail to take the bait.

For the record, your continual crap like "Oh, Jackson does not cause me curl into a fetal position and hate white people" is why I assume the worst about you. More often than not, assuming you are going low is too generous toward your posts. You pretend to want serious discussion.

Jackson committed darn close to genocide, we can bring teams of experts in to debate if it was genocide but if not it was a damn close relative. I don't curl up in a fetal position but forcefully say we no more should honor him than anyone should honor Pol Pot, Hitler, Mussolini, or Stalin.

I have never argued about tearing down Jefferson (Lee was a different story but you have not mentioned Lee). Those who took up arms against the US do not deserve statues. I don't care if it is Lee, Pancho Villa, Ho, or whomever.

But Jefferson, fine, he can be on statues or money with the realization that he was not a god. He was a flawed man who made some good choices and some bad choices. But we accredit Jefferson more than other Founders. Adams has no monument in DC and played a huge role in America's formation. Adams owned no slaves and doesn't have a monument and isn't on Rushmore. I haven't checked but I suspect there are fewer statues of him then Jefferson nationwide. Adams didn't kill thousands of natives and has only appeared on one special edition coin and an uncirculated $2 bill. Jackson gets the $20.

Why don't we celebrate Adams? Part of it, for a long time half the country wanted nothing to do with an abolitionist.

You not getting any of this. My point about being inspired about our history does not lend itself to making a checklist of who is or is not inspiring. I gave your Jackson question the response it deserved. I’m not sure what flaws you think of when considering the profound impact of Jefferson‘s words, but I don’t think that way.
