I own that all day and admitted so. This is exactly why I said the water cooler should not be on a sports site. I don’t have the discipline to not look at it. And when u see the absolute stupid and really hateful things the Trumpers post I can’t keep from responding. When my subscription is up I’m done. Even with the fb and bb forums there is mostly vitriolic postings and sarcasm meant to insult. Again, I have done so as well so I can admit it unlike many others here.
My earlier post that drew Brad and your ire was to mattindallas not whoever hoot is. He questioned who respected Jeffrey Goldberg. I suspect a lot of those in the industry left and right do. But it seemed to me that him questioning that was due to his political views. If I misinterpreted I apologize.
Until my subscription expires, I will try to stay off the water cooler which I did for a month or so earlier this year. That way I’ll not offend. That should make all feel better. I’m just glad this is the only internet site I belong to. Hearing from friends it’s really ugly on facebook.

I agree there is much worse things than being called a cult member. But look up the definition and tell me it doesn’t fit. Again if you read my follow up post you’ll see I was responding to mattindallas not hoot.
Your inability to regulate your own behavior should not be a reason to deprive those that can(?) of this forum. You're not the only one who gets waaay too wound up by some of the deabtes here, but to my knowledge you're one of the only ones who want to blame the site's owners.
@swman , if you'll allow me, I think there is a way I can neuter you this forum but no others. If you'll allow me, I will "blacklist" you, and that should prevent you from posting or replying here. (I believe you can still read.) Still should be okay to post and reply on the other forums. If you want me try that, let me know. If it causes you problems elsewhere you can DM me and I'll reverse it.
I’m not blaming the owners. I own my own inability to stay away from those discussions. While I can get wound up as you say, some on the cooler are so much worse. I hate it for letting myself get sucked in. By not renewing my subscription I eliminate the only truly negative thing in my life except for my age of course.
That would be great. The water cooler is exactly why I have no Facebook, X or anything else. I just want to follow IU as I have done my entire life. If there was a way to eliminate the water cooler from showing up on my account that would be fantastic. That way I can’t even read the nonsense that lights me up. Anything you can do is appreciated.
Honest question: What's going to be different when your subscription expires? You don't need it to access the cooler. The only difference will be that you can no longer access the Premium Football and Basketball boards. Everything else will still be open to you.
Probably feels free to leave the site entirely at that point.
To be clear, what I think this would do (never have tried it but it was suggested) is allow you to read the Cooler, but not initiate any threads or reply to posts.

It sounds like you’re struggling with this and I can appreciate that. I don’t think you’re alone. But in this post, you’re deflecting and not accepting responsibility for your actions here.
In post #555, you respond directly to hoot1, not to mattindallas. You flew off the handle, assumed a bunch of unwarranted things about hoots opinions, and then rudely said he was in a cult.
You did that. No one else. It’s not the site’s fault and it wasn’t hoot’s fault. And it wasn’t because you just can’t help yourself. You’re not a victim here.
Man up, accept responsibility, and apologize.
