Atlantic just released all the texts this a.m. and it is not good

He's a reporter and he took advantage of being added to that chat, which he says he intially thought was a scam of some kind because it seemed absurd. He also protected the information that he had by not disclosing it before the strike. I think he responsibly balanced his job while at the same time knowing that releasing what he had before the strike would potentially be harmful to national security. He also called his contacts in the White House and National Security Agencies to let them know he was given this information in a Signal chat. I'm not going to blame him for Waltz' screw up. He shown a light on a big time mess that needs not happen again. Ever.

I'm not blaming him. I'm saying reporter or not, he should have identified himself and let them know. He still could have written a story about accidentally being added. But to stay quiet and basically eavesdrop is just wrong.

Waltz adding the reporter was a mistake.

Using Signal in the first place was not a mistake. It was a willful decision.

And on what I still suspect is a personal phone (Tulsi and Pete have refused to answer that question), is way beyond a mistake.
Fire him.

if you thought it was a scam, would you identify yourself? Obviously when the strike occurred, it became obvious that it was legit.

Bc you respect your country. Journalism isn’t intended to be gotcha moments. That’s why everyone hates journalists now. The journalist was in the wrong. He should have said hey someone inadvertently added me. Please remove me. And done it immediately.

Doesn’t reduce the negligence of Pete and waltz as they should be shitcanned. But trump should ban this journalist too. Zero integrity. Looking for gotcha moments. Here’s an idea. Just be decent and do the right thing
I haven’t read his reporting. Is that how it went down? Or did he look at his messages and it was all already there?

Why is that ridiculous? It’s ridiculous not to say hey I’m not supposed to be on this chain. You dumb shits added me

He explained it clearly in his original piece.

Hell the admin was originally trying to call it a hoax and attacking the reporter even with all the screenshots.

How well you think a report with no evidence included would have gone over? Trump would be screaming FAKE NEWS

He’d have the evidence then to prove up

He said clearly he thought the messages were a hoax. Who the hell wouldn't?

Not until his messages started blowing up from Hegseth on the day of the attack... And then the attack actually happened did he realize it was actually real.
I don’t believe he thought it was a hoax. And twenty please remember I don’t have time to read the OP etc. I just scan posts here along with my group texts and make snap judgments. Often on preconceived biases

I’m going to read it now. I’m meeting a chick at sbx id like to bang in 30 minutes tho

Uh oh. Here we go... Much more interesting than fkn signal chats. Updates requested
29. many, many obstacles. updates indeed.

i can't get into the original article from the atlantic. i don't believe he thought it was a hoax. below from nbc news

Goldberg reported that he had been added to a group chat called “Houthi PC small group” on March 13. He described his initial skepticism, recalling that he discussed with colleagues whether the texts were “part of a disinformation campaign, initiated by either a foreign intelligence service, or, more likely, a media-gadfly organization” seeking to embarrass journalists.

When the journalist came to believe the chat was authentic, he left it. “No one in the chat had seemed to notice that I was there. And I received no subsequent questions about why I left — or, more to the point, who I was,” Goldberg wrote.

so my question is this: did he open his phone and the entire chat was already there orr was he silently reading messages as they came through?

Here you go....

Why is it on JG to announce he was there?

Anybody could have clicked and saw who all was on the text chain and questioned who he was. If he wouldn't have answered, they could have kicked him off the chain.

JG did absolutely nothing wrong here.

Eavesdropping is wrong. If I find myself on a text or email chain I should not be on, I immediately asked to be removed. It's happened to me before when my name got mixed up. The information was none of my business. I knew it and told them to remove me. It's the decent and right thing to do.

It’s endless. I could fill an encyclopedia with how funny I find him. It’s just him. His expressions. What he says. How he acts. I love trump. When he picks on a reporter at a presser and they ask something he doesn’t like and whispers “here we go.” When he posts he won the club golf tournament. When he adopts that Tony Clifton posture. He is funny. And it’s mostly laughing at him.

Trump is a type. I’ve had him as a coach. I’ve had him as a boss. As a partner. I’ve always gotten along great with trump types. You just have to know how to handle them. What I’ve never understood is the hatred. They and he are pretty transparent. Narcissistic. Incredibly insecure. As is trump. Searching for validation.

I like trump. A lot. I cannot stand Biden and Harris and Pete and that crowd. We’re all different hoot

MM66, you said it all, when you said, "We're all different".

Even people who are from the same race, religion, sex, gender, family, political party, country of origin, and the list goes on.

Born in 1996 or 1997.

#1 song of 1997: Candle in the Wind, Elton John. Also the year of Buena Vista Social Club. Ironically, also the year The Edge came out, with Alec Baldwin and Anthony Hopkins.

I am not a journalist. The first amendment protects the freedom of the press, of course. But why? Among other things, the press serves as a watchdog, freely reporting to American citizens about anything improper, wrong, or corrupt about public servants in the government. That is a duty of a journalist.

What a journalist might do as an individual, private citizen, has nothing to do with what his duty is as a journalist to the American people.

The way I see it, as soon as he came to understand what was happening, he had an absolute duty to protect our nation by Responsibly communicating to the powers that be to protect our national security, and then a duty to the American citizens to inform us of this egregious violation of common sense, protocol, and national security.

As far as I can tell, he handled this perfectly.

he likes to share his fantasies with us for some reason
Yeah, I’ve seen him do this with other posters. If he hates the poster, the insults become gay sex-themed. Then he runs to the site owner, whining that he’s somehow a victim.

Guy obviously has some serious baggage. Sad.

Nothing is worse than fake Christians. You’ve shown you’re full of shit. So what are you doing hanging around there….

But I’m glad you made friends with Hickory. You two are a match under people’s soles. Dumber and dumber betas

Waltz is Dick Cheney's buddy and a deep state hack. Everyone warned them not to put this clown in the administration. Just fire him and move on. He almost certainly did it intentionally.

THIS is what I've been saying!

Why does Waltz have Goldberg so "cloaked" in his contacts list (as simply "JG"), that even he would accidently add him?

I'm not ready to claim he did it on purpose, and just wanted "JG" to be anonymous, and if he was passing secret intel to Goldberg on occasion...I don't think Goldberg would blow that up, but why is Goldberg in his contacts? How did it get there?

I'm leaning that "JG" was probably camo'd on some state department phone list, which Waltz added (or was auto added) to his "contacts". Happens all the time. I have guys in my phone contacts that was synched via some phone list download years ago. Guys I've never talked to. Never met. But are in my "contacts" when our system links in with SalesForce.

That said, Waltz added "JG". Who did he think "JG" was?
