They couldn't even use it to recap that meeting based on the subject matter. It is more "Hey JD, I have something to talk to you about. Are you near a high level?" That is the type of message you can send on Signal. If he responded, "I am free at noon." That is giving his schedule a bit and so would be sensitive but it isn't classified info.

They messed up. I think Hegseth should at least be reprimanded and Waltz should probably be bounced.
You know if I was found to be repeatedly lying to my employer, I’d be fired not reprimanded. Had a co worker lie to our boy about sales calls he was making when he wasn’t. Fired. No if and or buts about it.

These people must want this shit to stay in the news. They attacked the guy so he said screw it and released more info. All they had to do was take responsibility…people are forgiving in most instances. Get the facts out fast for all to see. Quit being cowards.
Cowards just plain lie. Not just in government.

I don't disagree, but I will offer one caveat (with the important note that my experience has never involved national security). After spending much of my working life in management and responsible for hiring/firing/training in organizations of various sizes in multiple industries, I have come to the conclusion that sometimes it is better to forgive than to make an example of someone. You have to consider the value of that person going forward. If Waltz is genuinely the best man for the job, then one royal f*ck up might not change that fact. So my instinct would be to reprimand and coach first, and only terminate if there really is no other option.

Hypocritical when the admin is firing ees like mad.

Get the facts out and then quit talking about it. This is simple. Not another word about “war plans” or when and if something was “classified”.

This is what happened. This was what we did incorrectly. We made a mistake. That’s it.
And people need to lose their jobs. They could have jeopardized the lives of the military personnel.

Afghanistan withdrawal was a debacle and entirely irrelevant to this incident. As is 9/11 and Benghazi. You have nothing and the Twitter Twit you just linked is another total idiot. I took a look at his bio as far as I could find one and he doesn't have any national security experience at all. The only reason you'd link him is because you happen to like what he says. You have nothing.
I’ve had him blocked for some time. His MO is having a big mouth so I have to correct you on that nothing comment at the end.

Quickly fessing up about making a mistake, even a big one, buys some sympathy.

But denying everything, lying, attacking the truth tellers, having all the facts come out, continuing to lie about it, and then being dragged kicking and screaming to the admission of a mistake buys jack shit.

Russia is a supporter of the Houthis. You don't think they would have alerted them a strike was coming with 2 hours notice? They were really wanting one specific guy in that first attack, you don't think they could have gotten him out?

If this happened under Biden, you, CO, and others would be demanding impeachment and guillotine with a dull blade.

Trump wasn't even involved and Trump Devotion Syndrome has kicked into overdrive. They screwed up, it isn't hard to say. Certainly the government has some way of handling this sort of communication and I suspect it isn't a private app on personal phones.
Remember when Lloyd Austin was in the hospital and unreachable- Fox News had a week of outrage-now it’s just US security potentially impacted, so carry on. The amount of overly partisan folks who rely on single source news, and are unwilling to call out mistakes by their side of the aisle is appalling. We are a dumb nation letting our puppet masters control us- thankfully some on this board are quite old and at death’s door. Just like Trump!

Nothing simpler than a yes no question. I’d suspect that Mike Johnson’s idea of getting rid of federal courts that rule against The Dancing Orange Orangutan does fly in your presence. You’ve never heard a democrat float such undemocratic ideas.
Correct. Yes or no questions are simple. Instructing the witness to “answer yes or no” means you have asked a stupid question and I always object, and if in a deposition I instruct my deponent to “answer in your own words”.

FWIW there are tactically better ways to make a witness look bad if they refuse to say “yes or no”.

Simple questions make it easy for the general public to understand. In addition, it absolutely keeps them from dancing around and giving them an out if they are investigated. Can’t escape a yes or no.

What Orange Lemmings don’t understand is only Orange Jesus gets to lie about his own truth. They are allowed to lie about OJ’s truth but not their own. In short, there’s only One Truth, so don’t do something stupid you have to lie about, because there’s also only One Stupid.

Lurker, as much as I disdain Trump, "Orange Jesus" really isn't going to help real discussion. Just my take, your mileage may vary. Void where prohibited. Broadcast rights owned by this channel and Major League Baseball. Past performance does not indicate future success.

Agent orange is kind of funny tho

A watchdog has already filed a lawsuit against them for this. I could be mistaken, but I believe maintaining ambiguity on how JG was added and whether the info. was actually classified would be beneficial legally.

Definitely superior to admitting wrongdoing.
Yeah that’s right. Only dems should be held accountable. Ethics out the window. They are trashing Goldberg because they have zero ethics and no moral compass. And he was stand up by not saying anything until after the strike because he knew he could endanger our service personnel. Those others on the Signal Chat put lives in danger with no regrets. It’s all about the power and arrogance.

The people who would be offended by the term “Orange Jesus” aren’t people I’m interested in discussing anything with anyway. F*** ‘em.

He did intentionally people. If you want to legit gripe about something it's that everyone warned them not to hire him. Full blown sabotage.

"He served in the Bush administration as a defense policy director in the Pentagon and as counterterrorism advisor to Vice President Dick Cheney.".

Darth Vader probably told him to do it.

MAGA hoping to sacrifice Waltz to try and make the scandal go away and save Hegseth. No surprise.

Incredible they made this shift shortly after it was reported that Trump was secretly pissed with Waltz. It's almost like they can't form their own opinions, or something outrageous like that.
Waltz lied. And he pulled a really stupid move. He’s toast. Forming a contrary opinion is a different thing. This isn’t that.
