You are being difficult for no reason. Economic reforms, in general, tend to bring short term detriment for an assumed long-term benefit. In Europe, such reforms that would be beneficial are around pensions, work requirements (limitations on # of hours, etc.), and trade. None of those would start off with an easy situation.
In the U.S., politically unpopular decisions to actually reform the retirement system (Medicare, SS, etc.) is why no politicians have the guts to actually change the trajectory. Changes would trigger negative consequences in the near-term, for the betterment of the country in the long run. But, if you are a politician, it's impossible to do anything.
Argentina is a heavily corrupt, inept, socialist economy. It's famously defaulted on its debt, had enormous inflation with mediocre economic growth (consistently lagged the U.S., for example). A transition into capitalism is a decade-plus process and the initial phases are going to be painful (reduced government support, etc.). It's quite obvious it would be good for the country in the long-term, but how you get there is difficult.
As much as I liked Trump as President, he didn't attempt to dismantle the deep state nearly as much as I would have hoped.
Maybe he'll get it done his second administration.

Anyone who is decreasing a federal govt. can as authoritarian as they want. The IRS is worst criminal organization in the world. It is not nearly as organized as the Mafia but is made legal by our criminal federal govt.
Why is the Democratic Party so opposed to RFK jr. and Ms. Shanahan being on state presidential ballots. All they talk about is Trump ruining democracy but evilist democratic Party claims anyone that opposes them is terrorist and will exercise their current power to ban them or try to paint them as criminals.

Argentina is in a pretty bad recession, unfortunately. But that was predictable with the changes he’s making. It is also, IMO, preferable to the status quo ante - and likely necessary to make a lasting course correction.
The biggest things to keep eyes on are imports/exports and foreign capital investment. Last I looked, those things were showing some green shoots. They will be key to getting Argentina out of their doom loop.
But can Milei continue getting hard-choice policies thorough the legislature? Can he survive a downturn politically?
Someone sent me a picture yesterday of me at HS graduation in my cap and gown.
My hairstyle was identical to his. I'm not proud of it.
So far so good. I'm hopeful that he can continue to get things back on track. Would be a fantastic case study for other South and Central American countries who have gone down that same path and need a way out. Bonus of decreasing China's influence in our backyard.
It's going to be an interesting case study regardless of the outcome.
