Right, Hell we are even told here that our negativity is going to hurt the feelings of the players and future recruits. If anything I would be so pissed I would go play my ass off so I could flip the fans off, but not our team.

You just don't make it personal. It's not "you're selfish", it's "I can't have you play minutes if you don't pass to our open guys". It's not "you're lazy" it's "you aren't moving enough without the ball and the offense is sputtering because of that". When it's personal, they ignore you and rationalize that you either are just wrong or an a-hole. This behavior gets you praise and playing time. This behavior gets you bench time. Keep it simple.

IMO somewhere along the way Archie let in a double standard and it's caused some rift in this team. They played harder tonight, but this team is far less than the sum of it's parts and something isn't right.

I think the main obvious thing, which is really hard to do...is you can't kiss their ass, give special treatment, coddle your best players.

It's better for a team in my mind to be harder on your best player, so much that the rest of the team fights for him vs gets jealous of him.

That's one thing that Knight understood and was a master at...and it's why a lot of five stars didn't want to play for him but the ones that did understand now why he was so hard on them and respect him for it.

I watched ''Perfect in 76' last night and at Steve Downing's first meeting with Knight he was told to spend some time finding a good spot to transfer to that fits him better.

Downing was like 'Coach I'm one of our best players and scorers you've got'.

Knight goes 'well I see that you make all C's and do just enough in the classroom to get by. If that's the effort you give in the classroom then I already know the effort you want to give on the court and it's not enough for you and most of all he team. So let's find you a place that fits what you want where you can just half ass it and be happy'.

Downing was like WTF, was scared, said no one has ever spoke to him like that in his life but he got his grades up to B's.

The bottom line is stop kissing the asses of your most talented guys. Expect more and the others will follow.

Chemistry issues will wreck a team. We're witnessing it now.

I haven’t seen it and i really liked the Downing story so thanks. Did McGinnis announce he was leaving Before or after the RMK announcement? I remember going to one Indinapolis Washington game whle the were there. Jeez what a duo in the game I saw.

Is it as much as he is struggling or were the expectation's way to out of whack. When is averaging 17pts and 4 rebs struggling.

when you can't shoot from outside. when you can't dribble left handed. when you go an entire season without making a good pass. when you show no mid-range game. when you have superior athleticism and you only get 4 boards a game. when just as a general observation, he doesn't appear to show much fight.

It is possible the transition from high school to college and NBA superstar requires more work than he imagined. Or, he is on cruise control and will pick up the intensity at the NBA workouts he will attend.

The players and the staff know what the effort level is. He is the leading scorer so he is better than our other options to this point. I'm sure he has learned and listened to Archie. I would like to see him more aggressive early and set the tone for everyone else.

Langford played his best defensive game against Purdoo. His D has gotten much better. There wasn’t a problem with RL effort this last game. Not one bit.

There was an improvement in effort even with what ever was going on with his stomach. He was on the receiving end of some of the most physical play has seen this year. He played through the contact and got to the free throw line. I wish he could get those opportunities in the first half too.
