Anyone know a backstory as to why…

I said I thought they would be pretty good and had final 4 potential. Didn't miss by to much. I don't pencil in final 4's because it takes talent and luck yo make the final 4.
You didn’t have them winning the Big Ten? What a liar.

You know the issue, lol. It is called Matt Painter and the PU program. Matt will never have another player as good as Ivey, and PU will never have a better chance to reach the FF than this year: epic choke.
😂 Tough to be you these days, huh?

I can’t wait for Cupps to be a three year starter. Going to be awesome
I doubt Cupps starts 3 years. JHS will be at IU for at least 3 years - needs to drastically improve his offense to make it in the NBA

Sounds like a perfect player to propel Purdue to the top of the league next year. That 7' 4" oaf improved quite a bit last year for only a couple years of balling. He will be 1st team next year.
Just like the “guaranteed” Final 4 prognostications from last year.

They would play together. Two legit point/combo guards a coaches dream. See Baylor and Villanova
That will work at times, but neither is a scorer. I guess we could be like Villanova and try to play in the 55ppg range. We need scoring at the 2/3 position - Bates, Gunn, Nelson, Banks at the 3.

Completely untrue. It’s impossible to engage in any discussion when responses are duplicitous.
Agreed which is why you get smacked around here so often. Your responses are predictable and fool very few. Just a cartoon character.

well said! IU has had 4 different coaches since Painter took over, been in the sweet 16 once since 2016. totally jealous. add the fact the Purdue has never ever made a play in game like the storming hoosiers did this year. What a disaster in WL.
I am confident in Woody to get IU back on track and could make a claim you suspect it too. Do you really want to reference what IU and Purdue have done in the NCAA's?!? IU played in a title game since the hire of Painter which is more than Painter and Keady combined....Hell Butler has more title games than you will ever live to see Purdue in.

Even though I like your enthusiasm, we have not played in a title game since Painter's hire. I know, don't let the facts get in the way of a good argument.

How can it get any worse than the last 8 years? IU definitely will improve. Most Purdue fans understand that. Not getting to a FF is disappointing for Purdue fans for sure but comparing what they both done in NCAA's lately? You guys amuse Purdue fans with your Nebraska football like fanbase holding on to memories from 30-40 years ago. Final four this year void of anything but blue bloods(no IU is not a blue blood anymore) so lots of disappointment. Reference done in NCAA talk to me about present. Purdue and Painter one of 5 teams that made it to the second week of the tournament last 4 of 5 years. Not ultimate goal(c'mon guys fire out those Sweet 16 so original remarks!) but sure beats when your team loses in the first week. College basketball is played from November through March and I can't speak for the delusional masses here, but I enjoy my team winning as many games as possible(this year 29) more so than off years. Oh yeah, IU is one the rebound(slow it down though), you don't think Purdue and Painter going to continue to rise as a program? You guys are still in the rear view mirror and will continue to be for awhile that's a given. Enough said, Enjoy your off season.

The difference is that your program is at its peak while we are in dark years. This recent run of Sweet 16s is more than Purdue fans could have ever hoped for.

That's crap and you know it. Dark years remark accurate though. Purdue fans were excited this year especially early in season but there were red flags as season went on. St Peters was ugly but this whole being our best team ever analogy was inaccurate. We were experienced and deep but lacked talent the final four team delivered. We will see. Some pretty strong athletic recruits coming to Purdue(especially in 2023) so I beg to differ, the peak is coming. Again, we will see how it plays out for both teams.

How is that crap? You last went to the Final 4 43 years ago. You have 3 Elite 8s since then as well. It's becoming common for double digit seeds to knock you out of the tournament. Like it or not, it will be a long while before you have a team as talented as this passed year's team.

Purdue has plenty of talent on the team currently. I'd guess they are a 4-5 seed next year as is. Painter typically plays to his seed. Idk where this whole he consistently gets upset thing comes from.

As is? Like without Pack or another impact guard transfer? No chance. Your current guard situation is less than ideal.

Edit: in the last 6 tournaments you’ve lost to a 12 seed, a 13 seed, and a 15 seed.

It is less than ideal, but they aren't a bad team.

The one other thing I failed to mention, you keep claiming Purdue can never be better than what it currently is because history. Bet you would have said the same thing about Baylor 3 years ago?

Purdue's current recruits do nothing to get Purdue closer to FF talent and athleticism. Colvin is a maybe as a FF level guard, and that's not until he's in 2nd if not 3rd year as a college player, and as we have seen with Ivey, one player that's isn't going to cut it, and that one player is far from a sure thing. Everyone else is undersized and nothing special athletically

Carsen proved one player can get ya there though. They ultimately lost on a lucky shot, but 1 player did enough to get them there. So I'd argue it depends on the player. We will see though. I was told before the year ivey was to one deminsional and couldn't shoot well enough.

Edited post above to point out that in the last 6 tournaments Purdue has lost to a 12 seed, a 13 seed, and 15 seed.

You were a 3 seed this year that is losing a majority of its production (could be all of the production if Edey leaves), yet you think you only drop a seed or 2 without any impact transfers? Delusional.

Baylor is loaded with athletes. Purdue is not. Huge difference. You could make that same argument about any team in the NCAA.

and they got in on a bad call against TN so you have to take the good with the bad.

That’s BS. Cline going enfuego against Tennessee is the only thing that got you there. Even then, Tennessee would have won if they don’t call a BS foul on Carsen’s end of regulation 3 attempt.

So I was correct about the athlete issue. Last night, I was told that wasn't the issue....

Also, where is edey going? Have TKR and Waddell coming off redshirt. See what they look like. Purdue will bring a guard in.

Purdue is doing nothing to make their team more athletic. Look at your 2022 class.

Any rebuttal on losing to 3 double digit seeds in the last 6 tournaments?

Edey could easily go pro. Would get taken in the second round. He will never be a first round pick. He can’t get NIL, because he’s Canadian.

TKR may be decent, but you already have Gillis and Furst at the 4. Waddell isn’t going to be an impact player. Waddell and TKR aren’t even guards, so they don’t help your argument.
