Anyone know a backstory as to why…

64%, down 7% from last year, but still like 8% better than trevion. So that makes no sense. Have the worse shooter on at end of games this year? Next year, I'd rather have furst in when icing a game though. Edey has a good stroke.
How many times was Edey in the game down the stretch in a meaningful game regardless of who outplayed the other during the bulk of the game?

Trevion Williams may have played the worst game of his career in Bloomington this year, yet was in down the stretch. Painter trusted Trevion a lot more than he did Edey. Pretty evident.

Why on Earth do you think Matt hasn't clearly displayed what his ceiling is at this point? How many times do you have to see it? Jeez.
I just told you want his ceiling is without getting more athleticism at the guard play. And you want me to tell you why I can't see it after admitting to a ceiling? Jeez

Well ya. I'd trust a senior honorable mention all American down the stretch over a guy in his 5th year of organized basketball. Who wouldn't? That's just sensible coaching by Painter.

Right. He didn't trust Edey shooting FT's or handling the ball in a close game.

Thanks for playing Norbert.
That would make sense if trevion shot free throws at a higher percentage and averaged less turnovers. But..... clearly has to do with leadership and experience over trust. If you refuse to acknowledge stats, go for it.

Pack isn't much of a facilitator creating assists. I don't care if the Oaf is 9'6" he won't see the ball much from that PG. Not a great fit but PUke may have damn few selections available.

Best team since 2017, but I agree. Until Painter gets more athleticism at the guard position, he's found his ceiling. There is some athleticism in the 2023 class, so we shall see.

The 2017 team only got ranked higher than 15 for 2 weeks that season. This year's team spent the majority of the year ranked in the top 4 and all be the last 3 weeks ranked in the top 7. The talent and expectations were vastly higher this year.

You're too stupid to insult at this point.

Rankings are quite subjective and not a great measuring stick. The 2017 team deserved a #1 ranking before this team did.

That 2017 team had worse losses (home to Minn, and road losses to Iowa/Neb) and fewer quality wins and whose best win of the year was at home against Wisc

19 years and you still have excuses. You poor bastard.
Yes, you said something about more athletic guards. What do you call Ivey? The first step to solving a problem is admitting you have one. It has been 18-19 years: Matt is what he is at this point, and he has been what he is for years and years.

Agreed. They fell off late, but they started like 17-2.

Coach Geezer,

now that tourney is over wearing out the Beta and 1976 championship game? Keep hangin on old man

You are correct. Athletic guards. Not guard. Guards. Need super athletic 1-3. I think there is a reason Painter isn't recruiting more athleticism. He's shifting his coaching style/recruiting.

You poor bastard. I think my skin was crawling after 5-6 years of Crean. I don't know how you stand it.

At least I've been alive to see my team win a national title, well three.

But yeah, go use those Sweet 16 banners from 2016 on to wipe up that Boiler circle jerk you clown.

Why? Because I know the issue as to what is holding Painter back and can see he is addressing the issue in recruiting? If you think Painter is the same as 7 years ago, I've got bad news for you. But look at the final 4. Who did Purdue have better guard play than?

Credit to you. Never seen iu be anything more then a decent big ten team. Which is why I see them as such. Would have been fun to see the keady vs knight games live.

2 + Covid year,
So, if X is in his final year , and we have 2 current PGs, he could help for a couple of years after X is gone. Either way, we will need another PG at some point.

(not that I would put that as a priority - imo we need wings that can shoot and create their own shots)

JHS in 2022 and Cupps in 2023 already committed.

Newton in 2023 has my attention already.

Not a great defender, not a true PG. At least not yet... He played more point his freshman year, but last year was spent being an undersized two guard which is more his forte.

We have X and JHS this year., We have JHS and Cupps next. We don't need PG's.

You know the issue, lol. It is called Matt Painter and the PU program. Matt will never have another player as good as Ivey, and PU will never have a better chance to reach the FF than this year: epic choke.

I'd probably rather have Ramey from Texas who I think is in the portal but will check out NBA first. I guess everyone looks at Pack as a 3 point guy but I think Ramey is better everywhere else in his game. I think IU is fine with JHS, X, Galloway and Bates. Geronimo needs to develop as a wing too. Get the bigs. Reneau would be top priority, IMO.. If they strike out on bigs then chase Ramey if he drops out of the nba draft.

Never is a heck of a word when talking about Purdue as a whole. Lol clearly you have a narrative and don't care to discuss it, so I won't waste my time. Keep blindly pushing your narrative. Hope your skin doesn't continue to crawl watching iu each and every year. Cheers!

1980 was a long time ago. Matt is what his record is. Go Peacocks!

Once again, why are you here 24/7?

Purdue plays in the Big Ten not the NBA! Currently Carson Edwards came back to play for the Pistons. Scored 13 points with 9 assists. Signed a 2 year contract.
Purdue gets a visit from a quality portal player,

Run to IU board.

Until Edey can hit FT's, he'll hover around the 20 mpg mark. Don't think I ever saw Edey in the last 4-5 minutes of a moderately close game last year due to his FT shooting and Painter not trusting him with the ball in his hand.
Edey's turnovers, average defense, and FT shooting kept him on the bench during crunch time. He's not as good as most of the Purdue fan base thinks he is. He's also not proven he will improve year-to-year as much as the fan base says he will. Everyone keeps saying "he hasn't played that long, wait until he develops" - yet in conference play his FT shooting got worse from year 1 to 2, and his turnover rate went up. So I'm not confident he will improve his turnover rate, defense, and FT from year 2 to year 3.

I've explained before why I visit this board and many others. Don't feel the need to do it again. Also not sure what the past has to do with the present and future. Why I don't live in it.
