Anyone know a backstory as to why…

Edey's turnovers, average defense, and FT shooting kept him on the bench during crunch time. He's not as good as most of the Purdue fan base thinks he is. He's also not proven he will improve year-to-year as much as the fan base says he will. Everyone keeps saying "he hasn't played that long, wait until he develops" - yet in conference play his FT shooting got worse from year 1 to 2, and his turnover rate went up. So I'm not confident he will improve his turnover rate, defense, and FT from year 2 to year 3.
I don't want to take anything away from Edey and will preface that he is a very good player given his constraints. A player like Edey will always raise your teams floor because he's so dominant around the rim. But you aren't going to win or advance deep in March consistently with a guy like Edey as your go to player.

Hard to live in the past when your team has never been there.
Na. It's pointless to live in the past. No matter the sport. It would be hard for me to live in the past should I be an iu fan as well. I've had plenty of teams I root for find success.

Yup. And Purdue doesn't have the athletic guards to put around him. Which is what will hold Purdue back.

He has gotten away from the motion and runs more set plays than most teams. He calls a set play almost every time down the floor. He got away from the motion when Edward's showed up, then he hired Shrewsberry to continue to build it.
Lol that’s BS. Your PGs have always gone to stand in the corner and wait for a kickout if the opportunity presents itself.

Not saying Pack won’t go to Purdue, but the fit isn’t all Purdue fans make it out to be.

Matt's offense has been Frankenstein in the post, kick outs for 3 after double teams, and the point guard has been afterthought. Frankenstein size and one dimensional shooters are a gimmick to try to get around the difficulty of consistently bringing major talent to WL. PU didn't know what to do when the Peacocks pressed and threw a 2-3 zone at them.

The accumulated memories brought on by national championship teams is priceless. Never gets old and never pointless. Hope your boilers get there some day.

The 2-3 made sense because Purdue couldn't hit a 3 and edey was struggling. Glad to see you agree that Purdue has lacked athletic guards, making them 1 dimensional though.

Would love to see it! Only indiana team I've seen win anything is the Colts. Granted, it took me a while to really start following sports.

It is? Then why has all the talk been about Painter's extensive playbook? And Matt calls a play every time down the floor? Shrewsberry did the same thing as the OC.

What do you call Ivey? He’s a far more athletic guard than you have ever had, and he’s the reason you lost to St Dicks

Because you are Purdue fans that deep throat anything about Painter. Please tell us the last PG you had that was a facilitator. Pack would be a scoring guard, which would be fine for Purdue, but not what he says he’s looking for.

I thought you may be done posting here after your absence since losing to St Dicks. I thought perhaps you had learned your lesson. Apparently not.

Not this year. Sure, Sasha is 1 dimensional, but I wouldn't call Thompson, Hunter, or Ivey unathletic. You have chosen an interesting excuse since your theory was debunked this year: try another excuse other than Matt and PU's program. Since I have been alive, PU's problems have always been the coach and lack of talent: not good enough.

I just told you want his ceiling is without getting more athleticism at the guard play. And you want me to tell you why I can't see it after admitting to a ceiling? Jeez
Yeah. Athleticism was the issue…

well said! IU has had 4 different coaches since Painter took over, been in the sweet 16 once since 2016. totally jealous. add the fact the Purdue has never ever made a play in game like the storming hoosiers did this year. What a disaster in WL.
Purdue been to the final four once since 1980.. jealous is strong

Says a Boiler fan… 🤣

You couldn’t possibly know. Those who have experienced NC know better. It’s always better to have won them. Just trust us…

Guards. Plural. Have to have multiple. Do you people read my post or see Purdue attack?

I've explained why I come here and discuss. I've also been extremely honest regarding the Purdue program after that fluke loss. Then again, I never hyped this team up as Painter's greatest ever.

Thompson was to small. Got pushed around. Hunter was athletic, but he wasn't the most skilled player in the world. Good, far from great. Gimme the NBA caliber athletes. That's what I'm talking about.

Lol you think DGL and Colvin change that for you? You just brought in 3 unathletic stiffs in 2022.
Why wouldn't DGL and Colvin change that? Both look to be really good gets. You may be right on this year's class. Loyer is the best 3 pt shooter in his class though. Idk anything about Heide other than he was highly ranked pre-injury.

You spent all off-season here hyping up your team. Didn’t win the B1G, didn’t win the BTT, and got embarrassed by a 15 seed.

Because while solid, DGL and Colvin are nothing special. Loyer is not the best 3pt shooter in his class lol.

He won a 3 pt shooting contest. We will see on Colvin. He's moving up quick. Idk much about DGL other than he was a fringe 5 star before his injury. We will see what happens with them.

Other than Ivey, when the hell has PU ever had that? You act like Ivey comes around every year: he is the anomaly. You live in such a fantasy world.

I said I thought they would be pretty good and had final 4 potential. Didn't miss by to much. I don't pencil in final 4's because it takes talent and luck yo make the final 4.

And PU is never good enough to get to one. It has been 43 years now! So much hype, so little to show (as usual).

No. I'm not even saying ivey caliber guards. But Moore and Edward's. Vince Edward's and Hummel even. Those caliber guards consistently would be a step forward. Outside of Ivey, you had little athleticism or limited ability.

They have a had plenty of teams capable. Just haven't done it. Had Virginia not got lucky as hell, they make it. Unfortunately, that's how the tourney works.

How would the same thing be any different?!?

Lol winning a 3pt contest that consisted of 4 total participants doesn’t make him the best shooter in his class. What an absolute clown take. He shot 37% this year in high school.

Colvin isn’t moving up anywhere. He plays for a very bad team, and seems to be a very poor teammate considering how many times he was benched by his high school coach this year.

DGL is not a borderline 5*. His rating has caught up with the player he actually is. Considering he’s on his 10th school in 2 years, I would put him on de commitment watch.
