This is so sad. I am waiting for details before making any conclusions on the, "why" of it all. My heart goes out to my brothers and sisters there in Texas.
I wish politicians would put their laws where their prayers are.
If too many white folks get killed in this manner, we may have to look into some gun reform laws.
It's already against the law to murder people in a church. I think.
The law obviously isn’t working. We should probably get rid of it. It just makes it harder for responsible gun owners.

To be fair, my comeback was as substantive as your post, so there's that.
Current reports that an armed private citizen living next to the church exited his home with his rifle and returned fire. It's not clear if he fired while the shooter was still engaged with attacking the church, or if he fired at him as he was fleeing. It's possible that this citizen hit him while he was driving and caused his death.
Repeal the 2nd amendment.

No point in having debates or trying to “figure out what happened” today or in any other similar situation. This is simply the collateral damage we have to accept when every asshole can own every gun they want.
This will be what the "armed citizenry" proponents will grab onto.

What’s unsubstantive about smart gun laws instead of offering thoughts and prayers every two weeks? So there’s that.
There's nothing substantive about calling for "smart gun laws." Offer specific policies and why you think they'd make a difference. That would be substantive.
Just a reminder. The rate at which Americans are shot and killed by police is higher than the rate at which most Westerners are shot and killed by anyone.
Crime sucks, but whatever is wrong with our country runs much deeper.

No other country in the world has this probably so consistently and yet the powers to be aren't taking it seriously.
People outside the country ie ROW can only wonder how corrupt the US political system is -- at the same time, it is preaching the need for transparency and democracy to the rest of the world.

There is a hole in that argument, though.
There is no proof that they prayed that there would be no shooting in that church.
Maybe to die in the church is like Muslims who die during the Haj in Mecca.
