Kurt, if they are truly IU fans they will be happy to be wrong.probably will turn out being a home run.

NIL is only important if you know how to spend the money wisely. We need to buy winners with character over just talented guys.Indiana also is building toward having north of $7 million in NIL + revenue-sharing resources, per source.
Like Woodson no excuse for not winning. He will have 7 million

McCollum has more wins this season with mostly D2 kids than DeVries did in any of the 7 seasons he was at Drake. What record?
Did you see or hear the press conference? That was one of the big themes. Don't just collect talent, build a roster of players that fit, that are physical, and that want to work hard.NIL is only important if you know how to spend the money wisely. No I did not see the PC. I like the sound of itDid you see or hear the press conference? That was one of the big themes. Don't just collect talent, build a roster of players that fit, that are physical, and that want to work hard.
Base all your opinion on a guy who coached one year at the D1 level? I wonder why it took McCollum so long to get a gig being he was so successful at the D2 level?McCollum has more wins this season with mostly D2 kids than DeVries did in any of the 7 seasons he was at Drake.
I think that's what he means.
Personally I preferred McCollum, but oh well, let's see how it goes.
Tend to agree with this … this stat can look great when “the previous regime” did a horrible job. For instance, they mention Kelsey and what he did at College of Charleston … but at Louisville, Kenny Payne was so bad (19% winning percentage) that Kelsey’s 79% win percentage this year is a 60% improvement.like we need more random cherry picked stats that mean nothing.
Loyalty to his Alma mater - he played at NW Missouri State, then was a GA and an assistant coach for 6 years before accepting the head coaching job at NWMS for 15 years. (Learned a lot about this guy last year when my Cards hired Kelsey).Base all your opinion on a guy who coached one year at the D1 level? Valley was down this year quite a bit. Lot of average to bad teams.McCollum has more wins this season with mostly D2 kids than DeVries did in any of the 7 seasons he was at Drake.
I think that's what he means.

WVU had 6 Quad 1 wins this season. He beat Kansas on their floor. Even with Kansas having a down season for them, that's pretty impressive. They also be Iowa State, Zona and Gonzaga. That's pretty damn good.,McCollum has more wins this season with mostly D2 kids than DeVries did in any of the 7 seasons he was at Drake.

Of course. He also missed the tournament. Didn't Crean have us ranked #3 in the country early in the season he got fired? The whole season and career matter more than 6 good games.WVU had 6 Quad 1 wins this season. He beat Kansas on their floor. Even with Kansas having a down season for them, that's pretty impressive. After I saw Bobby fritter away a game Texas Tech should've won against Oklahoma, by sitting on his hands until it was too late and the game was blown (didn't even appear to see it coming...) while Sampson was coaching and working the last few minutes like his life depended on it, I thought "man, wish we could get a guy like that!" feeling Bobby was past it.Meh the last hire I wasn't excited about was Sampson, we know how that turned out.
Hey!!! I resemble that remarkNobody was going to like anybody at this point. We’re all idiots.
We knew early on that Beard was a no-go.should have got beard, who knows
That was me. But don't tell my wife.
Brought all those kids with him. More difficult rebuild is coming sooner or later. I'm not saying he can't do it, and he probably won't be there, but in terms of resume, DeVries has more depth, checks more boxes. McCollum is more of a "what if this guy is a basketball prodigy?!?"Exactly. Beat Devries record in just one year. And, he coached previously you know.
Edit: I like Devries . Not saying I don't. lol
Thought I read on here Beard was a lock to IUshould have got beard, who knows
good post. Agree on several comments.I like Beard a lot and think he was the Grand slam hire since big name coaches were so unlikely. I'd probably rather have McCasland or McCollum than Devries but they are all in the same category, IMO. Actually, after watching a few Tech games recently, McCasland was getting close to Beard for me. Maybe Texas will make a move for McCasland. I live in austin and that would be great. Beard generated a lot of excitement and built a great team at Texas in his short time but it is all stale again. I've haven't gone to a game in the last 2 years. I expect they chase a big name though. Rumors of Billy D. or Quinn Snyder are being thrown around.
I don't see how anyone can criticize the DeVries hiring until seeing his performance with IU. His resume isn't much different if not better than Danny Hurley's was before UCONN hired him.
42How many of you would’ve taken Dan Hurley after his six years at Rhode Island?, And Wagner before that.
was premature, Whitten nixed it, I reported that 3 weeks agoThought I read on here Beard was a lock to IU
Nobody is going to know what to do when we start winning big…probably will turn out being a home run.
Anonymous my ass. Was it cash? And where do they send the charitable receipt?
Kurt hadn't damaged his rep in awhile and was feeling self destructive.Thought I read on here Beard was a lock to IU
This is going to stick with me for a while. With Coach Beard off the table, I can see how DeVries made a lot of sense for SD. My initial grade would be a B+. He definitely seems like a hard working and gritty guy. I think the effort level and intensity of team will look much different. His son is also going to be a fan favorite!I was premature, Whitten nixed it, I reported that 3 weeks ago
Yes, he outdid DD by 2 wins so far, and 3 wins DD's previous year. Nevermind that the Valley was particularly weaker this year than they have been in the past.McCollum has more wins this season with mostly D2 kids than DeVries did in any of the 7 seasons he was at Drake.

I just dropped 75k early this morning.Anonymous my ass. Was it cash? And where do they send the charitable receipt?
And I reported six weeks ago that IU was never going to even consider him. And that was correct. He was never even contacted.was premature, Whitten nixed it, I reported that 3 weeks ago
you were correct, someone thought they had more power than they obviously do. give Whitten credit she stuck to her principles. And I reported six weeks ago that IU was never going to even consider him. And that was correct. He was never even contacted.
Right. DeVries is safer. McCollom has the higher ceiling. I preferred the higher ceiling, but okay, whatever, let's go win.McCollum only did it one year tho.
DD had 5 20 win seasons at Drake.
Yeah, UNC's NET was pretty good. I don't care for that metric.Yes, he outdid DD by 2 wins so far, and 3 wins DD's previous year. Nevermind that the Valley was particularly weaker this year than they have been in the past.
Drake's Net was 56, followed by Bradley at 80 and UNI at 93. They were 4-15 vs Q1. Last year ISU was 28, followed by Drake at 47 and Bradley at 57. The Valley had 9 Q1 wins in 2024. Also to note, Drake has 2 Q1 wins this year. DD had 4 last year at Drake. But heck, if just the amount of wins gets you off, Indiana should just schedule all cupcakes.
