COBOL?

Emma Stone Boomer GIF by MOODMAN
I have an old programmer friend of mine who has made a small fortune, fixing legacy COBOL systems.

He's in Chicago - you've probably shared a beer or two with him.

I looked to see if there was a regulation requiring funeral homes to report the death--I couldn't find one, but I didn't spend more than a few minutes searching. Seems like that would be a good regulation to have. It is a simple piece of paper, but it does look like that a surviving spouse or child can report the death to SS over the phone as long as they have the social security number.
To my knowledge there’s not a legal requirement. But ssa has a form for it and it’s standard practice for the home to submit it to ssa to stop payments and to start for survivor benes. Home also gets death certificates as well. All part of the package
