When my parents died I notified SSA myself the next day.
Direct deposit these days, not checks. It will be simple to check whether such payments are actually being made.
Yep, if someone doesn't notify SSA, the checks/deposits keep coming.
And, of course, people are always honest. And SS numbers are never stolen.

I'm pretty sure when my dad passed, the funeral home took care of that for us. One of the estates I administered it went that way, too. But another one, I helped the executor to prepare the forms to do it herself. I'm not sure what's more common.
If Trump thinks payments to 120-year-olds are suspicious now in 2025, why didn't Teflon Don investigate payments to 110 to 115-year-olds when he was still in office from 2017 to 2021 during Trump's first term?
If these payments to 120-year-olds are truly fraudulent today, it's apparent most of them were fraudulent during Trump's first term too, and Trump negligently let them continue.

I'm trying to find a link saying how many of these claimed payments to 120-year-old recipients were being made to the same accounts during Trump's first term, when those "recipients" would have been merely a youthful 115-years-old.
It defies reality to suggest that such accounts only sprang up during Biden's administration without existing during previous administrations.

I am 100% in favor of what Elon Musk and his team are doing. However something needs to be done about the amount of disinformation that is coming. It definitely is undermining the entire operation.

I had plenty of time to plan, and canceling SS was at the top of my mental checklist. I was juggling a lot of balls and the last thing I wanted to deal with was an overpayment.
