lots of how next season will go will depend on hunter being healthy. With development and chemistry coming together (hopefully phinisee steps up and becomes a leader) we could make a sweet sixteen run. Either we get Harris, quinones or watford I would feel very optimistic about our future with Archie and the future of this program.

Let's make the tourney first and finish in the upper third of the conference.

That being said, I'm really liking the roster make up over the next couple of years.

The only low to unranked guys (if we can get one of Watford, Quinones or Harris) will be Green and Durham...and they will be upperclassmen who play good minutes.

Also looks like we're going to stop having so many guys playing out of position.

We've got two solid posts with beef in De'ron and Brunk.
Two big, gooney power forwards in TJD and Race.
Two points in Rob and hopefully Harris.
A multitude of combo shooting guards in Green, Durham, Franklin, and Harris again (hopefully).

That 3 spot, the one that needs length AND needs to be able to shoot is the big mystery but there are some guys like Hunter, Anderson, Smith (even though he can't shoot which hurts) and then maybe a Watford or Quinones?

Anyway, we're gathering up a lot of solid talent at multiple positions or at least trying too.

Brunk was so huge just for the De'ron insurance and now not needing to have TJD play the five as an 18 year old.

Hopefully he can bridge us to Furst.

Current roster doesn’t look like even a tourney team.

Still a lot of ifs. If Hunter can be in great playing condition[hopefully no Charlie Miller,Maurice Creek situation]. If IU gets one of Watford,Quinones or Harris to add to team. If freshman can play without experience and add to team right away. If Green can learn to play smart basketball and Smith can add some consistency to his game. If Anderson and Race grow in potential as good role players. And if Durham can play at level he should be developed at. If Davis can remain injury free and work on those damn free throws. This team could be deep or still a year away from a good team. A lot of ifs.I have no question of Brunk's work ethic.TJD will be good.MSU getting Winston back is not good. Don't know about Michigan yet. Purdue will miss Edwards. If Cooks stays in ,it will hurt Iowa some. IU could be in top 4-5 in BT if they gel as a team.Whew,I'm done.

Wrong! This team looks decent as is if they are healthy. If you add one possibly 2 more nice pieces this team has a chance to be something special.
How so?
They didn’t make the tournament with a better roster this year. Next year who will score? Guard play will be average at best..frontline is average.
Not to be a downer but this roster will not be very good unless recruiting finishes strong with a couple studs.

Juniors and Seniors surrounding a 5 and a high 4 who has been around the program for a year. we’re not a gimme tourney right now but we could sure grow into one.

Remember, Crean is gone. All the stars in the sky don’t have to align for us to be good. We’ll have plenty more data on Archie’s system within a year. Should be fun or maybe not fun at all. Lol

I agree for the most part. We need to improve shooting. That's really the difference in us being a tourney team. If we can limit turnovers, that will make us a high end tourney team. The question is, how will we do that? Coaching? Recruiting? Work ethic? All the above.... Only time will tell but I'm being cautious with my expectations.

Green down the stretch last year gives you no hope? Davis, TJD and a beefier more experienced front line will be avg at best?

Ya, things tend to be static when you’ve made up your mind well in advance...

I have seen this movie before and even though I am a supporter of Archie, right now I am from Missouri, he/they have to show me on the court.

I disagree on the roster...I thought our actual roster was inexperienced and fatally flawed.

Our two best players with the highest volume of shots didn't compliment each other...they operated in the same space.

Romeo and Morgan were elite at the rim, and we'll miss that for sure.

They were pretty bad, less than 30% bad from the perimeter, and they took a ton of shots from there. It's going to be hard for us to be worse from three with those shots going to more natural perimeter shooters.

At the rim we have two guys who are elite when they get the ball at the rim in Davis and Brunk. Those two both have shot over 60% in the paint for their careers. That should help offset the loss of Morgan on offense.

Defensively we should be better as we have better fitting players overall. Morgan was a power forward playing center who couldn't foul. Now we have Davis, Brunk and TJD who are all natural centers.

We had 6'6" Justin Smith at the power forward. Now we'll have a taller, lengthier and almost as athletic TJD along with a beefier Race coming into his second playing season hopefully healthy while still having Smith.

That should be a much better front court defensively.

We still have to solve that 3 spot and whoever takes it needs to shoot better than 27% from three to help unclog the paint.

If Hunter, Durham, Anderson, maybe Watford or Quinones can do that, it will determine how good the team can be.

I do worry offensively with Davis, Brunk, TJD and Smith that we're going to get next to nothing from the perimeter from them so it's critical that Rob, Green and Hunter/Durham/whoever can be effective from the perimeter.

It's a huge spot.

Last year you had Morgan, Smith and Romeo who were awful perimeter shooters who scored at the rim and needed space to be effective...but when 4 of your 5 players are not great from the perimeter what is the defense going to do? They're going to pack it in.

We have to have better balance offensively.

The overlap between Langford and Morgan is a good point, and I feel like the offense performed better when one of them was on the bench, as it felt like the other 3 players just stood around waiting for those 2 to do something. Also, while IU will lack the star power on the offensive end, I think the roster as a whole is more balanced and well rounded. Also, I think the team has a chance to be elite on the defensive end.

I totally agree as they operated and were effective in the same space.

It was really noticable when we played Davis, Morgan and Romeo. The paint was crazy clogged with no room to operate for all three.

They seemed redundant to me.

Hope you are right. It I would not call davis and brunk elite by any means. Shooting is my biggest concern and permitted scoring

Elite being efficient when they get the ball around the rim.

A lot has to happen beforehand that didn't with Morgan and Langford though.

They won't replace them but will help with the drop-off.

Langford's, Morgan's and Smith's inability to hit from the perimeter was a big issue.

Smith because he was no threat so defenses dropped their man into the post to clog it up even more.

Romeo and Morgan was because they took a ton of threes that missed. Romeo led the team in three attempts.
