There are 14 Indiana players involved with summer baseball this year, including a pair of Hoosiers in the prestigious Cape Cod League.

Outfielder Logan Sowers and infielder Luke Miller are both in New England this summer. For Sowers, who won the Cape Cod League home run derby last year, it’s a return to the Cape. He’s playing for the Orleans Firebirds this summer after spending last year with the Wareham Gatemen. Miller has joined the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox.

Sowers has appeared in three games so far, collecting four hits in his first 13 at-bats. He’s driven in four runs and struck out a team-high seven times. Miller has played in two games and is hitless in his first three at-bats.

Elsewhere in the country, the Hoosiers have four players in the New England League this summer. Pitchers Chandler Sedat and Jonathan Stiever and catcher Ryan Fineman are playing for the Vermont Mountaineers, while utility man Scotty Bradley is with the Mystic Schooners. Stever has already started two games, striking out seven, allowing only one run on three walks and four hits in 10 combined innings.

Also in the Northeast, pitchers Tim Herrin and Pauly Milto are playing for the Amsterdam Mohawks of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League in New York. Milto has started two games, yielding only one run on seven hits with seven strikeouts and zero walks in his first 10 combined innings.

Left-handed reliever B.J. Sabol has jumped out to a nice start for the Green Bay Bullfrogs of the Northwoods League. Sabol has struck out eight and walked only one, while scattering three hits and giving up a single earned run in his first 4 1/3 innings out of the bullpen. He’s joined on the Bullfrogs by teammate Lauren Eustace, who’s batting .271 with two home runs and a pair of doubles through the first 12 games.

Infielder Isaiah Pasteur is playing for the Baltimore Dodgers of the Cal Ripken League and catcher Eric Hansen is in the Valley League, playing with the Woodstock River Bandits.

Locally, outfielder Chris Lowe and pitcher Brian Hobbie are both playing for the Terre Haute Rex of the Prospect League.

Go Hoosiers!
