Trimmer

Just glanced at some of the photographs of offensive line recruits from this weekend. The recruits certainly look the part.

In those photographs, Coach Darren Hiller was noticeably trimmer. While it's not tied directly to coaching, I suspect student-athletes have more respect for a coach who models self-discipline.
He's got a weighs (pun intended) to go, but he is moving in the right direction. The "Battle of the Bulge" is not easy to win in a high pressure job. Kudos to him!

are quaking in some shoes.

Former young victim of Jeffrey Epstein and his Elites sued Ghislaine Maxwell for defamation.

7 out of at apparently least 151 Epstein clients who allegedly abused underage girls no longer have Defendant Maxwell as an ally in hiding their identity.

Maxwell dropped her objections to revealing them in the civil lawsuit after her recent criminal conviction.

Her lawyer says "the John Does have their own lawyers - they can fight on - we're out."

Will these alleged predators be publicly revealed - ala Prince Phillip?

I figure if a British Prince can't stay anonymous, the answer is "tell the world."

I have a sneaky suspicion we all know one of them - maybe 2.
I have a sneaky suspicion past and future Presidential timbers are a-shiver.

Killing the Law

In the period of five years or so, Law in the United States has been beaten, clubbed, fire-bombed, undermined, and worst of all been horribly abused by those who have taken an oath to protect and defend it.

The interface between the law and most of us are the police. In some statistically rare cases, police have abused their authority. The pushback has been overwhelming and way out of proportion. In many communities, there is no effective police force because nobody wants the job, and the civilian overseers won’t let them do their job anyway.

Prosecutions in many communities have become a bad political joke. Prosecutors blatantly refuse to enforce laws they don’t like. Judges refuse to sentence in accordance with legal guidelines .

Nationally, we have an administration that has gone further than any before it to use the law for politics. Enforcement actions are pushed despite clear contrary precedent. Laws are routinely ignored for political purposes. Laws are selectively enforced to follow political ideology. In the worst cases, law is being used for theatrics to advance an agenda.

In the last weeks and months the executive branch of government and the legislative branch have heaped scorn and ridicule on the third branch, the Supreme Court. Probably doing irreparable damage to not only the stature and authority of the court, but irreparably damaging the rule of law itself.

I‘m old enough to remember when a POTUS used the United States Army to enforce a deeply unpopular SCOTUS decision. That is when SCOTUS had respect even though there were significant cries to Impeach the Chief Justice. Now, our President and Attorney General are leading the charge to demean the court.

Back in the olden days, when we studied, learned, and applied law from real books, the rule of law had context and an anchor in reality. Nowadays, the digitized law seems like another tweet or blog post. It has become detached from its foundations and then beaten senseless. We now have a government of men, not a government of law.

end of rant.

Mercer's contract was extended an additional three years...

I saw an article today about a handful of contract extensions for coaches across the athletic department. The coaches saw both pay raises and contract extensions with some getting substantial pay increases like Teri Moren. The article just said the new contracts went into effect over the past few months, and didn't get into much detail of the new deals. On Mercer, all it said was that his contract was due to expire after the 2023 season and the new extension is through the 2026 season and it didn't say exactly when the new extension went into effect. If we can't get the pitching situation ironed out, I don't know if he will make it past next season, although there was noticeable improvement by some pitchers near the end of the season.

Nice surprise at church

this morning. Walking in to City Church this morning two tall, young gentlemen were standing right inside the doorway surrounded by several people. I recognized one right off the bat as JHS but I could never get to see the face of the other young man. I believe it was CJ Gunn but wouldn’t swear to it because everytime I moved to see him he moved to talk to someone else. JHS is bigger in person than he looks on film. Good to see some team members out and about. Please correct me if you know who was with JHS.

Good news: New vaccine approved by US panel

Look! We're so thrilled to announce that a US panel of nameless experts have approved the covid vaccine for children under 5... for the love of god, man! So look, if you were lucky enough to escape a surgical instrument being plunged into the back of your neck, twisted around and then having part of your organs pulled out... for the love of god man... by one of our creative and celebrated priests from the Temples of Molech (planned unparentood), then please be at peace that shortly we will mandate this vaccine... for the love of god, man! Look, because we care about children and always remember... it's your body... our choice... for the love of god, man! Now where's my bike? (this was paid for by no political party and does not support any candidate... but if you a pro-life, then you're a racist homophobe terrorist that needs to be imprisoned and re-educated... for the love of god man!)

Trustee Election

We have until June 30 to vote for a new Trustee to replace MaryEllen Bishop. Bishop was a member of the Athletics Committee among others.
We have three OUTSTANDING candidates, each bringing a different set of skills and experiences.
