O$U

How many of you have watched them any? I watched the PSU game last week waiting for our game and wasn't all that impressed. I'm watching them manage the Toiletmakers right now and still not impressed. I would compare them to us when we played FIU (at best). For all the talent they have, they're just going through the motions and look unmotivated. Even if they get up for us in a couple weeks, there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth in Columbus.

Also, Ryan Day looks like the Temu version of Dave Bautista 🤣

Ticker & Carlyle

The contributions of Tucker and Carlyle to the second half breakaway confirms what I've been expecting - they are going to be crucial contributors to this team, probably logging around 20 minutes per game. Tucker is a mature, well-rounded, do-it-yourself talent who makes everyone better, a great backup to Mgbako. Carlyle is already a good defender and team player, and his shooting began to round into shape in the second half. He'll pair with Galloway at the second guard spot. Hatton will sub for Ballo or Reneau, or maybe Goode as long as he hits his threes. And we'll have Newton, Cupps and Leal if any of the guards gets injured. That's a lot of talented depth. So I still think this team can be ready to play with Purdue and Illinois at the top of the league.

We won, which is all that matters, but that certainly dampened my hopes about competing in the 'Shoe.

Particularly when it comes the offensive line play.

That was the first time they've gone up against a line comparable to what the Buckeyes can offer, and they got absolutely mauled for about 2 1/2 full quarters of football. And, frankly, their poor play did seem like it started to get to Rourke. Sarratt let him down a couple times, but he was also fairly erratic for most of the last 40 minutes or so. The complete miss on the wide-open swing pass to Ellison (on the play where we got called for holding, but still) with no pressure and no one near him, in particular, raised a few red flags.

142,000,000 counted so far (Reuters) - will go up a bit

155,500,000 in 2020

81,283,500 for Biden in 2020

74,223,975 for Trump in 2020

67,768,544 for Harris so far counted (Reuters)

72,475,248 for Trump so far counted (Reuters)

Neither will make the 2020 number

Harris fell shorter

Why?

This deserves its own thread.

I’ll start - was it “8 years of hateful rhetoric/propaganda drove some to stay home“ OR “some demographic in the Democrat Party dislikes Harris” or Door No. 3?

CFP spot, IMO, is locked..

#8 in initial ratings.
UGA and Miami lose. So IU should move up.
#5 in AP. Even with sloppy performance, IU jumped 3 spots. Tells.me AP and coaches feel this team is legit.

Loss at OSU can't possibly drop this team out of CFP Top 12...

Although, get boatraced by OSU, then struggle vs PU, and that could be a cause for concern.

But just don't see that happening.

NOVEMBER PREDICTIONS - Put em Right Here

This is going to be an incredibly fun month as we've got first and foremost, the fight of the century, as well as an election with OUR VERY DEMOCRACY AT STAKE, and finally a shocking opportunity for the hoosiers to be in the playoffs. i'll start now and let's see you people be accountable and put your predictions in cement. no told ya so monday morning qb bs.

The election - we won't know that night but will start out super pumped for a trump clear victory but in the end harris will squeak this one out. Harris is the next president.

The fight of the century - THE GOAT, AKA THE PROBLEM CHILD, second or third round victory over a legend. tyson throws in the towel. punching that bag and working out is fun. at almost 60 he won't be able to take THE PROBLEM CHILD'S heavy hands hitting him in the head. getting hit won't be good at tyson's age. and people underestimate the power of THE PROBLEM CHILD. he carries the weight of gen z in his heavy hands. the bullying. the angst. all of it. THE PROBLEM CHILD with a relatively easy victory

Our Hoosiers. 10-2. Miss out on the playoffs but secure a fun warm weather bowl in a magical first season. More than anyone could have hoped for.

Polls - - a week out

New battleground state polls appearing today in RealClear:

  • Arizona (CNN): Harris +1
  • Nevada (CNN): Trump +1
  • Nevada (Trafalgar Group): Tie
  • North Carolina (WRAL-TV/Survey USA): Tie
  • North Carolina (Trafalgar Group): Trump +3
  • North Caroline (Elon): Tie
  • Wisconsin (InsiderAdvantage): Trump +1
  • Michigan (Emerson): Trump +1
  • Michigan (Susquehanna): Harris +5
  • Pennsylvania (AmGreatness/NSOR): Tie
All but the Susquehanna poll (Michigan) are within the MOE.

So how soon 'til Trump declares victory? Election night? November 6? Tomorrow?

Moore’s presser

I listened to Moore’s postgame presser and was so thankful that IU did not (once again) hire a head coach with no head coaching experience. I know it’s worked ok for Day at OSU, but hiring someone who has never done it, especially at a program like Michigan is baffling. Moores answers seemed mostly centered around emotionally supporting his team. He better win next year at Michigan or he’ll be gone. What a contrast compared to Cigs. I’m going to enjoy this ride as long as it lasts!

Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

"For two years, I've been saying that Ukraine has zero chance of winning the US proxy war against Russia. The MSM has dutifully propagandized the American public into believing Zelensky was winning and anamethnatizing those of us who challenged the narrative.
Now the MSM is admitting the war is lost. If they had been truthful from the outset, the reality would have steered Ukraine toward the peaceful generous settlement that Russia repeatedly vouchsafed, and 600,000 Ukrainian kids might have grown white hair".

My wife and I at Michigan State game Nov 11, 1967

While I am 90 years old now, by 1967 I has become a IU football season ticket holder. Like IU now, IU's football history was terrible.one of the more recent hires Phil Dickens plunged the entire athletic program in despair resulting in an almost four year suspension because of recruiting violations. John Pont (I think from Yale or some Ivy league school) was hired....an the magical never before football success resulted. That my wife (who I met at IU-we just celebrated our 65th wedding anniversary) went to 7 games, home and away including the Rose Bowl.

Indiana was ranked 6th in the country--many people don't remember that Purdue was ranked 5th in the country. Mich St was having a down year with a 2 wins and 5 losses record. Still many thought IU was an underdog. IU's winning streak was by the following margins, 2,3,4,5,7, 13. The weather favored MSU, gray, rains, windy dark skies. INDIANA held on to win 14-13-the magic of Harry Gonzo prevailed. One play we remembered was John Isengarger punting for IU when MSU tried to take him out of the game with a illegal tackle after he had punted the ball, run John run became a chant for the season. Indiana attemped 18 passes and completed 9, but had two turnovers fumbles.

With 6 minutes left in the game IU trailed 13 to 7. Isenbarger after being knocked out of the game, drove the the Hoosiers to the winning touchdown and the IU dream season moved on. It was a memorable day for us-driving back to Chicago suburbs, stopping at Win Schulers for dinner was a great trip. 57 years have passed since then.

We saw two more games after that-at Minnesota and home to Purdue- still in my mind the greatest IU game we ever saw.
