Preview for the Nebraska series...

Perkins will start Friday with Brehmer on Saturday. As has been the case for almost the entire season, the Sunday starter will be a TBA. I brought it up a few days ago that IU is last in team ERA while Nebraska is last in team batting. If the weather forecast is pretty accurate, don't be surprised if Saturday doesn't end up being a DH.

Weather forecast:

Friday is mostly sunny with a high of 81 with a low of 62 with a 17 pct chance of precip and winds at 12 mph.

Saturday is mostly sunny with a high of 82 and a low of 67 with a 3 pct chance of precip and winds at 16 mph.

Sunday is a rainy day with the chance of heavy thunderstorms starting around noon with a high of 80 and a low of 55 with an 87 pct chance of precip and winds at 18 mph.

Lilly CEO

WISH-TV 8 just had a story about the CEO of Lilly (Ricks) talking about Indiana. He complains that Indiana is not keeping up with education, it is hard to recruit to Indiana, and healthcare in Indiana is too expensive. It does not appear that WISH has put this online yet, and the only other source I see appears to be IBJ but I do not have a membership to confirm

On healthcare, here is a story that Indiana has the 6th highest healthcare in the country.

I hope the interview with Ricks comes up soon as I am curious about his education specifics. Indiana claims to have lower costs justifying lower wages, but 5th highest healthcare does not seem to support that entirely.

Teams jockeying for the 6th thru 8th spots in the B1G Tournament...

Here are the remaining series for the teams that IMO are going to be jockeying for the final three spots in the tourney. I'm conceding that five teams are probably going to be in it in Rutgers (11-1), Ill (10-2), Maryland (7-2), Iowa (6-3), and Michigan (6-3). I didn't include Minnesota's series left since they are in last place and it doesn't appear that they will improve on that with maybe the exception of moving up to the 12th spot if things fall right for them. I included OSU which is in next to last place, but has two conference wins, the same as IU and MSU. Here are the remaining series for those teams fighting for the final 3 spots, IMO, and I've listed them in order of the current standings:

NW (4-5) - MSU, at MD, OSU, PU, at Minn.

Neb (4-5) - at IU, Iowa, at Minn, at ILL, MSU.

PSU (5-7) - at Minn, MSU, at OSU, ILL.

PU (4-6) - Mich, at Iowa, at NW, MD.

MSU (2-7) - at NW, Minn, at PSU, Iowa, at Neb.

IU (2-7) - Neb, ILL, at Mich, Minn, at Iowa.

OSU (2-8) - at Mich, Rutgers, at NW, PSU.

With the remaining series left, PSU looks like they have the easiest road to the tournament. Purdue was hurt early in the season when two of their three games with a bad OSU team were canceled with Purdue winning the lone game played. Of the teams that are probably going to make it, Rutgers has a difficult season ending stretch in the B1G, with series with Iowa, at OSU, MD, and at Mich, with OSU the only weak opponent, but with the big start to the season, they will probably win enough games to easily be in the tournament and be one of the top seeds. Maryland also has almost as tough of a road with series left with at ILL, NW, at Rutgers, Mich, and at PU.

Mallory McMorrow kicks some QAnon (adjacent) Butt...

If you're like many of us wondering how individual Dem lawmakers could fight back against baseless QAnon- type charges being levelled against them by some of their more extremist GOP colleagues, this brief speech from Dem Michigan State Senator on the floor of the MI Senate yesterday provides some clarity and direction.

Now I don't know if the Republican Senator in question (Lana Theis) is a full blown Q Nut. But she sent out a fundraising letter filled with Q centric charges against Mrs McMorrow accusing her of being "pro-pedophile" and characterizing her as a "groomer". So I l'm labelling Theis as what Kurt Eichenwald characterizes as Q_adjacent- not necessarily a full blown Q Nut, but using the terminology to appeal to those types to win votes (and raise cash)...

The speech was major news everywhere (probably not on FNC or their morning show), but most outlets have shown excerpts/edited versions. So this clip from Daily Kos is the only version I've seen that encompasses the entire 5 min or so, with no additional outside commentary. So if anyone is fearful of being indoctrinated by the Kos- you can watch the speech here without any fear of commentary...

Now for a little more backstory and commentary, Morning Joe had McMorrow on this morning, and she provided some excellent insight into the whole story...

IU and MI

miles ahead of everyone else in the B1G in recruiting. Former players, strong nba ties, and all in on NIL.

I have predicted this for awhile, but I am more sure of it now than ever. IU is in a tremendous place right now with NIL and recruiting. The administration deserves a shit ton of credit for not pulling the typical IU. Way to go Hoosiers.
