OT - IU wins 2021-22 Governor's Cup

For those who keep up with such things:

(Apologies for posting a link to the Purdue site - IU doesn't track the yearly competition).

IU didn't do great in this weekend's Big 10 Outdoor Track & Field championships, but the men and women both finished a spot above Purdue in the final standings to claim an 11.5-8.5 win in this year's series.

This is the third straight win for IU in the series tracking all head-to-head competitions between IU and Purdue. It was IU's fourth win in the past five years. IU also led the 2019-20 series 9-4 when it was declared a 'no contest' due to COVID cancellations.

350 years ago . . . .

Oliver Cromwell asked parliament if it had any virtue. He then pointed out the self-dealing and corruption which drove the members. I’d like to ask the same question of congress. Oh, there is loads of virtue signaling, but precious little of genuine virtue.

By virtue, I’m talking about serving the objectivity of morality, excellence and valor. Today, morality in our politics is inextricably intertwined with yelling at the opposing members and pandering to voters all for the purpose of accumulating and retaining power and authority. Serving the public good is seldom a consideration unless it is accomplished by a distinct political advantage over the other side.

Note to the Democrats: Self-loathing is a destructive mental condition that consumes virtue.
Note to Republicans: Nostalgia is a fantasy view of the past that turns illusions into virtue.

Observing a smattering of the run-up to the 2022 election shows that politics is about to become less virtuous, if that is even possible.

I don’t how we recover. I’d start with this In elementary schools. With good character, we won’t need to yap about gender and race.

RIP Doolittle Raiders... The Last has Passed...

Gutsy beyond belief...

While there were unintended consequences from both that and the Makin Raid (alerting the Japanese to the need to redouble their efforts to fortify their inner and outer island ring defenses...), the boost in US morale was tangible at the time and sorely needed, particularly at the command level... The "it can't be done" types were weeded out and the "we'll do whatever it takes to get it done" types were rapidly promoted...

The Doolittle Raiders effects were Far greater than just the results of their bombing runs...

A toast to some of the Best of us... RIP

Fascinating video of takedown of actual Russian spy in Ukraine

This is like something out of a cold war novel. CNN was able to film Ukrainian secret police tracking and arresting a young Ukrainian who they believed was recruited by the Russians to provide military info. They show the special agents apprehending him as he walks down the street, and then are present as he is interrogated and basically sings like a canary. He says he was recruited online, and even shows them the text conversations between him and his Russian handler. And for all his trouble, he was paid about the equivalent of $10...

According to the Ukrainian police in the story, they catch on average 1 or 2 of these people daily...It would be like if Indiana and Kentucky went to war, and all the Kentuckians in Indiana (and there are many) were transmitting info back to their handlers in the Bluegrass...There's just too many of them infested on this side of the River to be able to keep track of all of them...

Preview of IU's last home game w/Illinois St. on Tues...

The game is at 6 p.m. (ET). IU beat the Redbirds on the road, 3-1, back in April. Weather tomorrow for Bloomington is a high of 82 with clouds and sun and a very slim chance of precip, and wind not much of a factor at 6 m.p.h. w/gusts at 13.

Wisconsin

Found an interesting article regarding Wisconsin and B1G baseball. Basically they dropped the sport when money was tight and apparently have no interest in reversing that position despite positive cash in the B1G and general increase in college baseball. I believe Barry has distinction of representing the only Power 5 non participant in baseball. This is a detriment to B1G baseball IMO.

NIL (unethically) used as recruiting enhancement?

Maybe I’m the only one who didn’t know (living under a rock?), but I didn’t realize the NIL couldn’t be used as a recruiting tool (although it’s apparently done all of the time):
“But what's happened is it's now being used for recruiting inducements, and that was never intended. It still is against the rules, but it's blatantly being abused.” (Gary Barta, Iowa AD).

Convert a string to a number

Hi Guys,

I’m a new user on Uipath, and I’m facing my first problem trying to convert a string to a number.

I’m getting values from a DataTable into a variable (Heure_Minute_Actuelle_Row) :
row(2).ToString.Substring(9,2)+row(2).ToString.Substring(12,2) → Result is 1032 (as a string)

Then :
I try to convert as a number what I get into Heure_Minute_Actuelle_Row (so 1032) by assigning it a new variable (Heure_Minute_Actuelle_Row_Number) → cint(Heure_Minuite_Row) and I get 0 as number

Could someone help on the topic of how to convert this string into a number?

Thanks a lot.
