For those who rebuke me for claiming to be a Republican but hating Trump

His insane rant about Haitians eating pets is exhibit A. My daughter has worked in refugee resettlement in Columbia, SC for 3 years. Her clients who are all here legally put up with this kind of bullshit all the time. It’s one thing for ignorant rednecks to make ignorant redneck comments. It’s entirely another for a man who wants to be the leader of the free world to say these asinine things. Do the people who ridicule these Haitians have a freaking clue what they’ve endured in their country? They are simply here to make a better life for themselves. Not to eat poor Fido.

IU gets a few more votes in coaches’ poll, also makes AP others receiving (links).

An odor of competence in the air.......

Well IU football has been what it has been for what, the last 25 years? Lot of built up hopes, followed by the flaming wreckage of lost seasons. I not ready to smoke the reefer of the 10-0 start and bring out the rose colored sunglasses (dude) just yet but this sure isn't a Tom Allen team. How good is UCLA, who knows but IU sure does look like they have an idea of what to do out on the football field. Parfume Aux Cig certainly leaves an aroma of competence in the fall air.

Wish granted

Many IU fb fans set the bar for success as a bowl game season. Even the AD apparently was willing to accept a bowl game appearance as the mark of success.
My expectations of an IU fb team is first to be competitive. Second is to be aggressive on both sides of the ball and hard hitting on defense. If we can stay mid pack in the B1G every year and occasionally in the top 5 that is my minimum. If we do all of the above we should hover around the top 25 every season which is my goal.
It’s too early to say we’re there after only 3 games but it LOOKS LIKE we’re on the right track to be where I want IU football to be.

We might not want to be “too” good this year

Looking like FSU, Florida, and maybe even LSU could all be looking for coaches after this year.

With Cigs already proven track record of quickly turning programs around…a 7-8+ win season this year, and I would all but guarantee he’d be a top candidate for one of those schools.

3 non con
Purdue
Maryland
Nebraska
UCLA
One more somewhere

It’d be a good thing to worry about. But would be the most “IU football thing” ever if he had a great year and the timing lined up that 3 schools like that were looking for a quick turnaround guy.

Game Day Thread - Indiana @ UCLA

Conference play is upon us as our Indiana Hoosiers take on the Bruins under the lights (well maybe by the third quarter) of the Rose Bowl. What are we thinking about the game today? Updates from the program? Hoosiers attending, how is Pasadena? I for one am excited for potentially the biggest game of the 2024 Indiana football season. This game will make Indiana looked at as no longer a bottom feeder this season or Hoosier fans will be left wondering if conference play will be more of the same from the last three seasons.

Viewing Information:
Start time: 7:30 p.m. ET
TV: NBC/Peacock
RADIO: Indiana Hoosiers Sports Network

How Important Is This Game?

Look at Wisconsin. Went from Alvarez, to owning the West, to maybe middle of the pack in a division-less Big 18.

Not a week goes by without talking heads discussing openly “why do the Illinois’ and Mississippi States get full share TV money.”

The next decade is gonna be a full re-mix of “college” football. The top schools of the next 2-3 years will stay at the top for the next 20.

Beat UCLA.

Our future may be decided Saturday. Can't win it all Saturday, but might lose it bt being deemed irrelevant “middle pack at best.”

100 or more Career Head Coaching Wins - at any level

Good morning, Hoosiers!
Totally fired up today.
I saw a stat on CCC that intrigued me, so I did some light research, which I'd like to share.
It appears Bill Malory is the only other Coach in "IU HISTORY" with over 100 head coaching wins at any level.
Put that in your pipe for a wake-n-bake.
In addition, as many here already know, Bo was the last IU coach to have an overall winning record at IU, which was 1947.
It's not our imagination, Cig is a real winning HEAD football coach. Been a minute since we've seen one around here.
Enjoy and Go Hoosiers! Mobile.
