Looking For Crowd Song?

That 2007 PU game is one I will never forget. I was at that game and the emotions felt by IU football fans across the stadium after that made field goal were indescribable. After the field goal was made everyone was hugging each other and high fiving in my area. Complete strangers. Even with how wonderful this season has been I don’t think you can ever duplicate that moment and I wouldn’t want to. With Terry Hoeppners death that summer prior and all that was being played for that season in his memory that was THE ultimate moment in IU football history IMO. I can still remember that moment like it was yesterday.

How do you deal with Islam?

JDB, your post called my attention to an interesting author and philosopher Dr. Amin Maalouf. Maaloof, from what I understand, advocates in order to be a well rounded individual we should learn about three languages and become a citizen of a all humanity.

Encourage others to find out about Maalouf and decide for yourself if his teachings have merit.

Sounds like he is concerned about religion, nationalism and other factors which make people fanatical and cause violence.

We got a contender

Both him and Goode off the bench doing this could really be huge. If Tucker comes on early, that will be a real problem for B1G teams.
Obviously none of us know...but I would think it more likely that Trey comes off the bench, than Carlyle. But I do think its entirely possible Trey plays more minutes than Carlyle does. Actually over Carlyle at times, but then also sliding and playing alongside Carlyle, as the 3 man.

Just checked IU Alumni site,

Coach Hep's first year, Spring game, 2005...a few of us diehards were grilling burgers in the open area(long gone) at the south end of the stadium....a fancy cream/crimson golf cart rolls up...it's Coach Hep...he hops out, shakes a few hands, checks out the cooking burgers and hangs out for a few minutes....one of the guys asks about James Hardy..
Hep smiles, say;" James Hardy, I'd buy stock in him if I could".
September 3, the same group road tripped to Central Michigan, in Mount Pleasant...(travel tip: there's no mountain, and it's not pleasant) and saw IU's first win in the short, tragic tenure of Hep.
CMU Coach was Brian Kelly.
SuperHoosier, Daydreamer, and a few more who I can't remember made the trip....J. Hardy made the game winning play as I recall, in the 21-13 game.
Memories!
I was at that game. One of the only road games I have been to.

Another horrific incident in Iran that will be swept under the rug.

Meanwhile, protestors are not only supporting anti-Israel, but are literally proclaiming Islamic Jihad to take over various places across the Western world. And if that weren't enough, this is a religion that is responsible for 33,769 Islamist attacks that killed at least 167,096 people between 1979 and 2019. We know those figures are now too low, based not only on Hamas' attack, but various other attacks the past couple of years.

Is there any other cause that is even close to having this much of a detrimental impact across the globe? Is it racist to feel like Islam and its followers are a lost cause? Obviously the majority of Islam followers are probably not bad people and are getting a bad rap.

Here is how the Jewish Community Center (JCC) of Indianapolis chose to deal with Islam.

The JCC according to the link above brought a leader from both the Hebrew and Islam community together in a program entitled...

“We Refuse to Be Enemies?”

The link in part states..

“I wanted to bring Sabeeha Rehman and Walter Ruby to Indianapolis because this is a difficult time for both Muslims and Jews around the world and in our community,” said Camille Arnett, director of arts and education at JCC. “They are experts in creating safe and brave interfaith spaces and have more than 40 years of advocacy and work between them.”

The Jewish Community Center (JCC) has served the Indianapolis community for over 100 years, with an emphasis on a multi-generational, inclusive environment for people to play, connect and learn. The JCC offers exercise facilities, childcare, a greenspace with a community garden and various cultural events.

Exhibition vs Tennessee

I drove from Atlanta to Knoxville to watch the Tennessee exhibition. This post is late because I just returned. Here is what I saw.
  • I don’t think there is a bad seat in Thompson-Boling. The arena was about 85% full. Empty seats were at the upper levels.
  • Thompson-Boling is right next to Neyland Stadium. Watching parking unravel after a football game must be an hours long activity, 101,915 fans trying to find their transportation out.
  • Words don’t describe how 3-dimensionally big Ballo is. He takes up a lot of space, and he rebounded well against an athletic Tennessee team.
  • IU was 0 fer 3-point shooting in the first half. I didn’t count. but I think IU took around 10 3’s.
  • Mgbako was 0 fer the first half. Goode was 0 fer the game. The only way to go for our shooters is better. To be fair, Mgbako had a good 2nd half.
  • Tennessee’s defense was really good. They were quick. They pressured and helped the entire game.
  • Rice and Carlyle’s defense was really good. They pressured whenever they were in the game. The 3 bigs just stood straight up until they had to close out.
  • Rice is going to be Yogi level good.
  • IU’s zoom action needs a lot of work. Tennessee shut down all the post screen options.
  • The game showed reason to be optimistic about IU. With reasonable development IU could be very good at the end of the season.
  • IU and Tennessee should get full props for starting out playing each other, rather than Marion and University of Indianapolis. Both teams now have a good read on their current state of play.
  • The Knoxville experience was well worthwhile: University on the Hill, great basketball environment in Thompson-Boling, downtown theater and restaurant and bar area, post-game meal in a restaurant on the Tennessee river. If you ever get a chance, go.
Went to a football game at Tennessee years ago. Stayed within walking distance to the stadium, the tailgate scene is very cool with boats coming in "sailgating". Went to a bbq place along the river which was very good! Police patrolled the area pretty well watching for drinking, you could only drink in certain areas. After the game it was pretty funny seeing how many whiskey bottles were in the stands!

Joe Rogan Interview

The hold up is location. Joe wants her to come to Austin. She wants to do it on the road and for Joe to come to her. Both sides have been complimentary of each other about the process. If it works out it works out. If not it doesn't.

She'd be stupid to do such an interview at this stage of the campaign. I know everyone wants to paint her as an idiot, but she's not dumb enough to do three hours with Rogan two weeks before the election. At this point in the campaign the result is decided. We don't yet know what it is, but the votes are essentially locked up for both sides. I refuse to believe there are a significant number of undecided voters who just can't decide between Trump and Harris. This isn't an issues campaign.

Only a huge faux pas would change anything. Why put yourself in a position to commit such a thing?

New Yorkers Lining Up for Trump

I absolutely think people care. That’s a sanctioned event campaign event not a rogue comedian at funny bone. In a state that impt with a race that close there are no words for how stupid that was. That morning I’d have issued an apology for that comedian and said that he in no way represents our views and had we know he’d say such things we’d never have booked him
And that when I win the election I’ll be making the great number 5, Albert POOHOLES, director of the president’s council on sports LFG!!!!!

After all the years I am getting emotional.

My dad passed in 2012. He was a PHD student in the Education Dept in 67. That is the year me and MTOTF got hooked. We have had tickets for every year starting in 67. My kids are thrilled.
Great story,my Dad also passed in 2012 and I started going to games in ‘67.
The bucket game that year was one of my best childhood memories.
We went down on the field after the game and got a piece of the turf.
My Dad knew some people and got us into the locker room after the game,I was in Heaven.

I can't recall Trump ever apologizing for anything in a serious way.

Harris vs. Trump 2024

Go back 50 years...a monkey could've predicted almost every election correct by Labor Day. The exceptions being 2000 (he was wrong), 2016, and 2020. You know how I feel about 2020.

He also spent months telling everyone that if the Dem nominee was anyone but Biden that Trump would win. When Biden dropped out he got a call from the deep state and immediately changed his tune. He's a fraud and a very insecure and petty little man.

"yelled at the top of his lungs"? Is there anyone in MAGA world that doesn't just lie incessantly?

And just spitballing here, but my guess is that the reason Lichtman takes such offense to this type of misinformation being spread is because for the first time in his predictive history he is now receiving death threats directed against him and his family by deranged Trump supporters...

Joe Rogan Interview

LOL. So the military is more educated than fast food workers and similar folks from that class that make up General US population. Getting brainwashed by Kamala's MK-Ultra mother is not an education. Nobody is down on the military. It's how the idiots in power are using them to push their war agenda. Maybe the US should spend more on educating the general population than wars.
It's not LOL, it's a fact. They also continue to get education and training while in the military. It's move up or move out.

Who or what is "Kamala's MK-Ultra mother" and what does it have to do with today's military?

After all the years I am getting emotional.

Saturday I saw a guy selling buttons outside the south entrance, that brought back some childhood memories.
I remember a stand in the west concourse that sold buttons of different teams, anyone else remember that?
I distinctly remember an Iowa button,I assume we were playing Iowa that day.
This would have been late 60’s when my Dad started taking me to games, what wonderful memories.
Miss you Dad,hope you are enjoying the season.
