The question was not about voting, it was about citizenship. Shouldn't VA have access to naturalization records to cross check?

Do you think people tell the DMV when they lose/gain weight, change glasses, change hair color? All part of your identity on your license.

If someone received their license 3 years ago, they most likely do not even remember that question. Do you remember every question on every form you filled out?

I posted a link elsewhere that there are over 2 million people registered to vote in multiple states. A clear potential source of fraud. Yet nothing has been done. Virginia left ERIC, the group that alerted states when voters moved. Doubtless there are more than 1600 voters registered in VA and other states simultaneously. But Youngkin doesn't give a damn about that fraud. Why not? Why don't Republicans care about it? Seriously, I keep mentioning it and you guys blow it off. Why did conservative states scared sh*tless about voter fraud leave the group that tracked a major possible source over the requirement to send postcards to non voters reminding them to register? If fraud is such a big deal, why?

I can't say I've taken much time in getting super familiar with the details. But, if that's the case, then I don't think this is a case of the DOJ just brazenly trying to make it possible for non-citizens to vote. And it's being cast that way.

Personally, I think what a state should do in a situation like (although VA's law may not allow for this) is to just accept provisional ballots from anybody in question. That gives the state more time to properly vet them and determine if they are or aren't eligible. If they're eligible, count it and take steps to ensure they aren't back on a list subject to being culled from the registry...if they aren't, toss it and then get them off the rolls.

Why can they not just make it clear to anyone voting what the eligibility criteria are? I don't see this as a partisan issue. You are either eligible or you aren't. It shouldn't be something that is determined after the fact.

OT - I don't know who will win. And I understand the desire to finally have a woman president.

But I can't help LMAO ( OK, smiling at least.) that if it happens this time, our first woman president will be... Kamala Harris. :)
That would be almost like a founding father being Donald Trump. Also, she was selected in the old smoke filled back room party boss style. Which also has me laugh.

Besides the decline in the AA and other vote there has been a shift from voters in urban areas to suburban and rural counties. Rural whites vote stronger R than urban whites. “Non voters in 2020” who voted early in 2024 show that the numbers are higher as % of the vote in GOP rural and smaller counties than the state as a whole. It’s not just Election Day voters from 2020 who turned out for the GOP but voters who did not vote in 2020 in those counties voted early this year. In addition to AA voters who lag behind 2020 it’s also younger voters of all stripes. You can see all the urban cities and areas that lag in early voting turnout….lets just say Atlanta plus Savannah, Macon, Augusta and Columbus are not alone

I would not have been happy with Cig if he had tried to pile more points on any of those games. If that is what it takes to get into the playoffs, then so be it we will have to wait. A little tougher schedule would be a better way in but I am not unhappy with this schedule. No one other than possibly Cig saw this opportunity coming and I bet privately he is a little surprised at how well the season is going.

OK, according to this USA Today article, many of these people are naturalized citizens who, at one time, were not citizens. So before they were citizens, they checked the box.

So it is Virginia's incompetence in not realizing a human can go from non-citizens to citizens. Some of these people marked nothing wrong.

Given that, I am a bit surprised the court let this go on. A system that disenfranchises AMERICAN citizens days ahead of an election through NO fault whatsoever of their own should be viewed as problematic.

Last I checked….they hadn’t seceded.

Looks like a race to the finish of early voting in Nevada. 1.026 million votes with likely another 325K to go. If the GOP hits 83.3 % of its turnout (it was 81% in) that would be another 107K to go and that is without any new ED registrants. With the growing % of others voting the GOP could end up at +50K advantage. Could that is. Clark county mail is a variable.

As of Oct 31st, Washoe county had received 92,315 ballots and had about 5000 or so to process. Didn’t see information on ballots received on Nov 1st. The 5,000 ballots out appear to be about 1700D, 1900R and 1500 or so Other. It’s hard to nail down an exact number because of “un-cured” ballots. Not a lot of them out but if someone fails to sign properly they are contacted and asked to “cure” or fix their ballot. So it looks like it’s all about Clark county mail in ballots and Election Day voting. It will probably be a wash. +140,000 mail ballots…180,000 ED vote and 45K to 52K GOP advantage. As to the Indie vote based on map of Clark county early voting Hispanic and AA areas are down while more R areas are up….indies live all over Clark county. Those indies who have voted are older and live in more R areas. That is another bit of good news for the GOP.
