Trump Tariffs

My wife does all the grocery shopping and is an inveterate label reader. You would be shocked to know just how much of the food sold at WalMart is labeled "Product of Canada," among other places. And not just packaged stuff either, I'm talking fresh vegetables and breads and bakery items. Tack on 25% or more and tell me what kind of reaction you get from the working class family trying to make ends meet.
You don’t make your own bread? You don’t buy vegetables in quantity at the local farmers market and can them for use over the winter?

These things surprise me

He's a lawyer, not an economist or observer of anything other than what's fed to him by Democrat talking points.

Keep that in mind.
It's almost like they've created AI power point presenter BOT's, right in front of our eyes. One world order, or else damn it ! Resistance is....... taking everything back and the bot's will be "unplugged". Johnny 5 is, over.

Sadly, I am afraid the pain will need to be much worse for us, before we stuff this genie back in the bottle. But if we do it, one piece at a time, an arm on main street here, a leg on a street sign there.......... We may shut it down. eventually. I hope they can hear us now.

...the effect of raising the price of certain goods will feel the same for American consumers.

WAIT... did karlmala biden shut off the crossco app? Did the Cartel's agree to this with the swamp? If so, what are they getting in return for their lost revenue? Wasn't this simply "impossible, my hands are tied" just a few short years ago? Since we can't put D's in jail, when do they go infront of our new judicial system setup outside of the swamp international cabal?
I'll wait for answerS ! !

Anyone see the Bands Fight?

I was there. We beat a pretty talented Purdue team that day in Johnny Pont’s last home Bucket game. They had Gary Danielson, Otis Armstrong, Darryl Stingley and Dave Butz, if memory serves. The bands did fight, Purdue Pete’s head, which was much bigger then, got bashed pretty good, and there were fights on the field during much of the second half. And we won. Great day.
A little before my IU football memories, but this would have been ‘71 then. I believe this was a pretty big upset at the time.

I know Pont’s last game was the next year, ‘72, a 40-0 blowout at PU. I vaguely recall my mom, dad and brothers going to that one.

Anything to worry about tonight, IU fans?

Look for where teams like Bama and Ole Miss are ranked. If IU drops down to where we're the "last at large" team, and those two teams are right behind us, that would make me nervous. Similar comment on Clemson. If they're right behind us, they could play there way over us with a quality win over South Carolina. None of those teams, like Indiana, will have any more games for evaluation. So if we're 11 or 12, and Clemson or Bama or Ole Miss are 12-14...when all the other games play out...while its unlikely, we could get bumped by a team with more losses.
Teams like Bama and Ole Miss who are going to be ranked behind us have no favors by playing Auburn and Miss St. If all three teams win Saturday, Bama and Ole Miss aren't going to jump IU as Miss St, Auburn, and Purdue are all bad teams.

I didn’t say they did, but the effect of raising the price of certain goods will feel the same for American consumers.

True. Prices rising for this or that good isn’t necessarily due to currency dilution. But the effect is similar, if isolated. And, of course, what secondary effects come from that will hinge on the magnitude of the tariff.

Either way, it’s bad public policy…even if the motivation is less about trade protectionism and more about leverage against another country for unrelated policy changes.

So, you were OK with the D inflation, but are questioning a more level playing field is worse, somehow? I get the slight feeling that there is some irony in your question. Or are you using Nuance? Or are you using bullshit? All are possible and understandable, but I would just like to narrow it down.
Added question. Are you OK with China and the EU placing, as high as 100% tariff's on our products? Thank you and we look forward to your comments.

Wisconsin

Which has won more than our high ceiling low floor guys. Not sure what the right mix is but wisky will be a very tough matchup for us this year. Rebound well, defend and play hard.
How about some high floor/high ceiling players/coaches/standards. Not sure why this needs to continually be hashed out. I want IU to be as good as Wisky and/or Purdue...as long as that lasts for about a month on an otherwise upward trend more towards being more like Kansas, Jay Wright like Villanova, recent Hurley like UConn, etc...

So the Ds had to go because of inflation on their watch. But LFG!!! for Trumps tariffs. Can anyone explain this to me?

McNeeley

all depends, I don't think MM is an NBA player, haven't seen McNeely this year just going off of the handful of the Montverde games I watched. to me they would duplicate each other on this year's roster. time will tell, got a bad feeling about this Bahamas trip hope I'm wrong
Hurley said of McNeeley recently..."He's the most college ready freshman I've ever coached." Not sure that implies NBA success, but its pretty high praise for a guy that's won back to back Natty's, with some key freshmen on those teams.

The Final Guaranteed Tailgate

Although I'm still holding out hope for a opening round home CFP game, this is our last home tailgate.

Open invitation to come hang out. We're serving chili and other assorted snacks. We'll have a couple solo stove fire pits going & the Huddle Shuttle will have the heater running for a respite from the cold.

We've also got some special entertainment planned (spoiler alert: not a stripper.....cold weather prices are INSANE) that should be a really good time. Starts around 1pm and goes for 2-3 hours.

We post up directly across the street from the Unitarian Church on Fee Ln. over by the softball field. The candy striped bus, ya can't miss it.

Anything to worry about tonight, IU fans?

W
Unlikely, as you've said. But sure, it would be nice to have a bit of a cushion.

Being redundant here, but if we kick Purdue's ass we should be fine.
I hate the thought of not kicking their ass in convincing fashion. Wouldn’t they like to be the ones to shatter our dream, much like the upset in ‘89 when we lost not only a bowl bid, but also AT’s chance for the Heisman. That was probably the most devastating IU Bucket loss in history.

Sec of Education - Holy Moly

Okay...well...fvck you for bringing in the rest of the world, then.

Believe me, US kids are spoiled only in comparison. Their lives are still a shit sandwich through no fault of their own. And many are so resilient, it would break your heart. As my wife says, the biggest hurdle new teachers have to overcome is that the ones who are the hardest to love are the ones who need it the most. (Sorry if that was a sappy platitude).
Sometimes platitudes are reality - but in getting back to what we were discussing….

I agree there are kids that are lost as innocent victims - but that has nothing to do with a) us being a representative republic, b) an impotent Dept of Ed, c) systemic racism or d) whatever other bogeyman people who refuse to take accountability adopt.

It has everything to do with cultural rot and lack of parental accountability. Lack of accountability driven by selfish people, by fatalism being shoved down throats by DEI/Woke grifters, and by politicians that are worthless.

An aside: It even further pisses me off that my kids have straight A’s, are student athletes, are model citizens and will only have a 5% chance to get into the school they want to attend. If you can convince me a Dept of Education can solve that - then I’m actively listening.
