Mack has got a lot better at D. Night and day from a year ago. Made a nice jump in the off season with footwork and being in the right position for sure.Defense won the game
I just don’t like Cupps. At all. LolTucker/Galloway/Goode plus the starters have a chance to be really good.
Edit Cupps & Newton may get some quality time.
You were jawwing about how good Purdue was going to be. We were waiting for your excuses as too why every single thing you said was rainbows and unicorns about Purdue.....then you disappeared once it was obvious how wrong you were? Now you're over here on the bball board doing the same thing. 😄 🤣I’ve been there. Reading. Love seeing Iu be good and have game day while Purdue sucks. It’s perfect timing. Enjoy this.
No way to know, and I've never claimed as much. I do know it didn't help. You think Clinton would’ve prevailed, but for that?
Maybe. All we can do is speculate.
Purdue was down double digits with around 5 minutes left. Creighton pulled their starters and was content with whatever outcome played out. Painter left his starters in including Braden Smith who played 37 minutes. Painter absolutely played to win and any Purdue fan who says otherwise is an idiot. No, it sounds like he tried real hard to win the game and relied on 3 players. PU returns 2 projected starters with double figure scoring and 3 that averaged single digit scoring. Two of those three will need to step it up consistently.
As a comparison, all 5 projected IU starters averaged double figures where they played last year with a former starter coming off the bench as a double figure scorer. We learned from our football team that past production and experience matter. I believe it will matter in basketball.
I'm guessing you're pretty disappointed by the 2nd half. BTW, I would hazard a guess that two of IU's best bench players were held out.
Encouraged by the scrappiness and showing some toughness. Just saying I can’t say they are contender until they show the can can shoot consistently and build some depth. Agree Galloway and Tucker would have helped depthI'm guessing you're pretty disappointed by the 2nd half. BTW, I would hazard a guess that two of IU's best bench players were held out.
A caveat to that. A 3-7 IU rolling into Columbus “needs” to lose for the B1G’s interests. A 10-0 IU can win and still advance the interests. These are still 20 year old kids and I’m sure when Ohio State saw the score of our game with Nebraska they took them lightly and it showed.
Comparing scores usually doesn’t work out too well.
That will not be the case when we come town, the team and the fans will be out for blood, even more so than usual.
I know it sounds paranoid but don’t expect to get any favors from the officials, they know which teams butters the bread in Big 10 and it sure as Hell isn’t IU.

Not sure a contender….4/19 from 3 and no bench scoring. Cupps, Hatton, Goode gave nothingStay healthy and this team can do anything it wants. 2 of the 3 Tucker gallo Newton stay healthy, watch out.
Rice is a leader and big game player. Missed a few FT but made the important one, and the big shit right before. The steal, behind the back pass was some incredible skill stuff. Rice is probably the best guard in the league.
Kanaan has a lot of potential. He is gonna have to learn he isn’t the go to player. That one three he took was atrocious, can’t do that at IU unless you have hit 3 in a row before that.
Ballo is perfect for us. Not gonna run stuff for him other than high PNR stuff. He is so big! Had a hard matchup today and got put in his place a bit. That is good for him because he isn’t gonna see that again anytime soon. He is about to eat the next few guys thrown at him. The foul to send them to the line for a 1/1 was such a high IQ play.
I agreeI think Charlie Becker is going to be a huge next year.
Oh shit that's real.
The standard is the standard.I for one am tired with all of the talking and bullshit that comes with Indiana basketball. Win games. The apologists have worn me out. Cignetti has shown what effective leadership and competent coaching can do for an athletic program. The excitement around IU athletics resides with the football program, let’s see if the men’s basketball program can provide something unexpected, in a good way, to even things out.
I do believe Cignetti, Shanahan and Sunseri being coy about that exact tactic could be a part of the game plan. Also having last possession of the 1st half and inserting KR those last 2 minutes would sure give MSU more to split their halftime emphasis on.
