Did Cignetti's Words Fire Up OSU?

We can't have it both ways.

We be all in for a coach who makes all these statements about this team sucka and that team sucks and then cry about a team scoring on us in the final minute of a game that we had every opportunity to stop.

Loser mentality.
exactly,

guaranteed it was bulletin board material but cigs bravado has served us well this yr. who'd thought we would even be in games like this with all the national attention?

if you dish it you have to be able to take it. they won...credit to them

that doesn't mean it still wasn't a pussy move to end the game like that. o$u and fans are way too obnoxious/classless to ever take the high road.

that's not the last time we'll meet, we will play again and I'll also guarantee cc reminded day when they shook hands that he won't forget it....

on to the next game AT HOME where we have the opportunity to make statement of our own. I hope we take advantage.....

and finally, that last td didn't mean sh!t as far as playoffs/ranking are concerned. everybody and their grandmother could see it for what it was

Hoosiers

We did have a RB chipping/staying in and it didn't help.

So that's kinda a perfect example of a terrible blocking scheme/play calling.

First, you're playing a team that is blitzing all the time, and you're running PA--that doesn't work. Quick hitters (slants, screens, stick/hitch), lobs over the top, or swinging it out wide quickly is what you do there.

Second, notice the blocking scheme. It looks like our LT blocked down to double-team their tackle, while we expected a pulling RG and our PA back to come over and block their future NFL DE on the QBs blindside. WTF? Did Shane Waldron draw up this scheme? Nevermind we're sending a guard and RB to do it--we're sending both from the opposite side of the line of scrimmage, and the RB is going to be delayed getting there by design because he's part of the PA.

Update . . .

I thought you had found someone else?

I think I wrote earlier, but I'll rewrite it here: a very good friend's wife had this same problem. She had the shunt put in and her quality of life, balance, and cognitive function have improved dramatically (although still not 100%). He's here in Chicago.

Do you want me to get you set you two up? Hell, I'll find out who it is and set up the appointment for you myself, if you need it. Don't give up--the worst that can happen is you find out you're in the same position as you are now, but the upside is there, isn't it?
Thank you. I haven't yet found a neurologist. Your wife's friend has a different situation than I have. I think I've said before that my timing doesn't support a shunt. I'm past the shunt stage. I've had a spinal tap already.

Well it was nice while it lasted.

Ohio State only had 316 yards of offense. The defense wasn’t the problem.

And a Game Note:

On that last big run by Henderson..., our LB, Fisher, was being Held in a big way, so much so that he was literally nearly lifted off his feet...

Now that had zero to do with the games outcome or the spread so it probably was just a "missed" call; in which case, that particular Ref needs to move up his eye exam to mid next week...

🚨🚨 It is time to invoke the 25th Amendment

It absolutely is a proxy war. There’s no getting around that.
It’s a direct war between Ukraine and Russia. This is a fact. There are many wars we’ve sold, leased or provided weapons to one side to use against and in the other country. Ukraine is fighting for its existence. Those that would tie their hands or cut off military assistance should know that they’re dooming Ukraine’s independence and its citizens to death or oppression.

Did Cignetti's Words Fire Up OSU?

With losses by Colorado, Mississippi, Alabama and BYU, it looks like Indiana will still make the twelve team NCAA football playoffs unless they stumble badly against Purdue. But I hope that Coach Cignetti learned a valuable lesson. You never say that any opponent sucks and you especially don't do that if your opponent is OSU. I have never heard of better bulletin board material than that if you are OSU. The only good thing about yesterday is that OSU now considers IU a worthy opponent but Cignetti needs to eat some humble pie and just shut up.
But it was okay for you when Knight brought Jack the Donkey on his show to make an ass out of Purdue, right?

C’mon.
Context here. He said this stuff at a basketball game to rile up a crowd. He knows both of those programs and their tradition. He doesn’t truly think this.

IU has tried the “gentleman’s approach” before and all of this LEO. shit and welcoming in opponents like rolling out the red carpet. That’s not sports. Sports is all about being nasty and disliked. The game has changed. Like it or not, society now thrives in trash talk and social media taunts. Got to play the game the way it’s played now.

Final OSU thoughts and observations

Thanks for the report. 👍

Even if the punt team hadn't had a bad day, they likely get some of those points anyway.

But offense, oof... I was surprised early we didn't try to run more. Running game looked pretty fair from the start. Cig called it himself post game 'every time' we dropped back it was a loss. I hope it was the noise like Coach said was a big factor. But that wasn't the case against Michigan yet they got a lot of pressure.

We were out of options at the end. We got a decent drive and scored. I was glad we did that much even though it was conceding. No option. Settle the team down and do something and we did.

Purdue won't have Michigan's or Ohio State's horses. We need a good day for the confidence. Beat Purdue!

Going for 2 and being successful at that time made a positive statement, although a small one.

Update . . .

Thank you Stollpa but my neurologist resigned his practice and the appointment has been canceled. I appreciate the sentiment.
@Sope Creek I thought you had found someone else?

Frontier and Spirit fly between Chicago and Atlanta for cheap, too. If you want to make it happen, I can drive you to where you need to go.

Hoosiers

I didn't watch it.

Cignetti fired up our base with his Ahia St sucks stunt and his emerging college football superpower line. I have no problem with it, given our absolutely dead expectations, etc. He's set the tone. But we have to pay the price for that--the powers that be are going to want to keep us down. If Day is recruiting against Cignetti, he's going to want to show those players we are a pretender. And right now, we are. Hopefully, Cignetti can recruit talent here to make IU a true football power.

However, I have to say this: I've been telling my friends on chats, texts, etc. that I feel like we just watched, in real time, IU football ascend to the absolute peak of its relevance, and then start the downward tumble with the muffed punt. It's rare to be able to pinpoint it in real time like that, let alone during a season. But our schedule broke so favorably this year, and Cignetti has given other programs a blueprint, perhaps, for copying our strategy, that I'm not sure we will ever be this close to the top again. I also think other coaches are going to put a target on our backs given Cignetti's post-game comments after a lot of these games.

Even if so, it was a wonderful ride, and if Cignetti can be our 90s-00s Alvarez, I'd be fine with that. It'll give me something to look forward to on Saturdays in the fall for the foreseeable future.
Wow.

That’s quite a specific point to annoint as our all-too-brief ascendency to the summit and inevitable fall. You make a “good” argument but I have to believe the best is yet to come. And, it better, I don’t have that many years left. And, to me, BETTER AND BEST is beating OSU for only the third time in my lifetime. I don’t need money and I don’t need medals and I don’t need a national championship (I do need this in basketball) in football. I NEED a victory over OSU.

Hoosiers

Then you have a TE in to double team. Or a RB to chip him.

Look, Baller, you're debating a Bears fan, here. I'm an expert in watching, bitching about, and obsessing over bad blocking, terrible O-line play, and dumb blocking schemes. I am also a baller at Madden 24 and now, EA Sports College Football '25 and can cook Tier 1 teams with the Hoosiers on there (the RPO Alerts with the single WR on one side and trips on the other is UNSTOPPABLE).

We did have a RB chipping/staying in and it didn't help.
