Some imbecile on USA Today

Has us out of the CFP and includes 5 SEC teams. Sounds ridiculous but I wouldn’t put it past the powers that be to turn the CFP into a full SEC playoff. I’m afraid we’re screwed if we don’t pull off the upset in Columbus. This is like a political campaign with momentum swings and I just wonder how little it will take for the committee to dismiss IU’s season as a cute little story but ultimately put us “where we belong”. Our own conference set the precedent in 2020 by choosing the big brand over the little upstart program

My wife

She likes going to games with me but she not the fanatic that I am….until this year.
I’m retired and I’m in a dead sleep at 7:30 this morning while she is getting ready for work.
She pokes me and asked me who Penn St plays this weekend we really need them to lose another game.
I said they play Purdue and she said well they wont be any help😂

PFF Grades Summary v. Michigan

https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/iu-football-pff-grades-snap-counts-and-notes-from-win-vs-michigan/

Yes the defense did play well … and PFF has lots of praise

The top overall defensive grade went to Mikail Kamara,
- six pressures — five hurries and one hit. He also batted down a pass and recovered a fumble.

With 51 pressures on the season, Kamara leads the nation. The next closest player has 44.

Linebacker Aiden Fisher posted the team’s top run defense grade and second-best overall tackling grade behind cornerback Jamier Johnson, who was ejected in the first half for targeting. …

With Johnson out of the game, Jamari Sharpe filled in at cornerback and posted good grades, especially as a tackler. He was targeted seven times for just two completions.

C.J. West led the team in quarterback pressures with seven hurries, and he also batted down a pass. He had the second best pass rushing score.

The best pass coverage grade went to safety Terry Jones, Jr., who recorded two pass breakups. He was targeted four times and allowed just one reception. Jones also had three quarterback pressures and forced a fumble.

D’Angelo Ponds locked down his side of the field. Michigan only targeted him once the entire game.

In total, IU recorded 25 pressures on the quarterback on 37 pass plays

The top overall offensive grade went to quarterback Kurtis Rourke despite the game being far from his best based on traditional statistical measures (17-of-28 passing, 206 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT). The interception was Rourke’s lone major mistake, and his accuracy related issues were largely the result of pressure in the pocket he has rarely faced this season. PFF credited Michigan with 14 total QB pressures for the game on 34 drop backs.

The best pass blocking grade went to center Mike Katic. He posted an elite score, and according to PFF allowed none of the Michigan pressures.

So, how about that FEMA supervisor, Marn’i Washington, fired for instructing workers to skip homes . .

. . with Trump signs in Florida after Hurricane Milton?

I will give FEMA administrator Deanna Criswell credit for firing Washington. But how the bloody hell could anyone think this was a sane thing to tell the valiant people involved in the recovery efforts? When FEMA employees and volunteers are going to extraordinary and heroic heights to help people some small-minded pissant tells people in her area to avoid certain homes just because they had a Trump sign.

Lock her up. Don’t give her a Lois Lerner soft landing.

Great podcast to watch during the bye week about CCC

Great Podcast takeaways

CCC and family love Bloomington
CCC does not think much about coaches that are screamers
CCC learned a lot about being a head coach while at Alabama with Saban. And he shares those coaching traits.
A takeaway is that CTA was thrust into a job he really was not ready for.
Dolson should be a fly on the wall to learn what makes great coaching.

Only meant to get second link “players perspective” 35 minute interview with CCC (the IU chairs in the background.)

Ann Selzer

Was she paid to try and affect the election or is she totally incompetent? Was she part of the lie to fleece Kamala donors when they knew Kamala was going to get her ass kicked?

Sporting News says Temple is after our DC Bryant Haines for HC position

Just a matter of time before these assistants get snatched up.

Oklahoma fans targeting Cigs

I checked out the OU page/board today and saw several references to Coach Cig being (by far) the popular choice to replace Brent Venables. Not surprising at at, by assuming Dolson responds with new/bigger contracts for Cigs and staff I just don’t see him leaving. Cigs will have a ton of leverage when he and Dolson talk business! What a great time to be an IU fan !

Prospects buzzing about Indiana’s historic season after win over Michigan

Talked to several prospects that were in Bloomington this weekend. The message is clear: they are loving what they see from IU football and coach Cig.

B1G Semi

When Indiana travels to Columbus in t-minus 12 days it will essentially be a Big Ten Semifinal game. More than likely the winner will face Oregon in the B1G Championship in Indianapolis because I don't see Oregon losing.

If Ohio State wins they have the tie-breaker with Penn State. If Indiana wins Oregon and Indiana will likely meet with both teams undefeated. (I very rarely say this about a Big Ten Game but Indiana isn't losing to Purdue.) If it's Hoosiers vs Ducks they will meet as either Nos. 1 and 2 or 1 and 3.

So in this sense there is a lot at stake.

In another sense IU will be playing with house money. I say this because regardless of what happens I think Indiana has done enough already to make the College Football Playoff. (If they get absolutely thumped like 59-0 by the Bucknuts then maybe not but that's not going to happen.) So it's not all or nothing at the Shoe. You play to win obviously but even if it doesn't go your way you're still in the running for the Natty (at least that's my opinion).

Trust the process and treat the Bucknuts like every other team this year. Be confident, play loose, and take a nice healthy swing at it! Enjoy the moment, you've earned it!

Ohio State sucks and so does Purdue!

B1G Championship Tie Breaker Race

It's a slow day at the office. So I'm on one today.

Although we're going to crack the nuts and go undefeated and this is moot as to IU, I decided to check out where things stand in the conference championship tiebreakers because there's a decent chance it's going to get used. Also, the head-to-head one is obvious, so I'm going to move down to the Win % of common opponents because that's where the math is.

IU - Overall conference record of conference opponents so far. 16-29 or .359
Still to play: OSU (5-1) & PU (0-6)
Rooting for: Everyone we've beaten to get these numbers up.

OR - Overall conference record of conference opponents so far. 17-27 or .386 (this one surprised me)
Still to play: Wisc. (3-3) & Washington (3-4)

OSU - Overall conference record of conference opponents so far. 20-18 or .526 (also surprised me)
Still to play: NW, IU, & Mich.
Rooting for: them to lose

PSU: Overall conference record of conference opponents so far. 19-20 or .487
Still to play: PU (0-6), Minn. (4-3) & MD (1-5)
Rooting for: Whoever is playing Illinois, USC, Minnesota (except during the PSU game) and for MSU, Nebraska, & NW. Want to see these percentages flip.

Interesting to note that how favorably our schedule compares to Oregon's. Granted, they beat OSU already, but if their Wisconsin & OSU weeks were flipped, they'd be sitting at an opponent record of 15-29 or .341. So ours is going to bump up after we visit Columbus regardless and that's figured in.

I'll update this prior to the Bucket Game when it's going to be a much clearer picture.

Indiana Sect of State Under FBI Investigation

As first reported in the most recent edition of The Cheat Sheet, Indy Politics has learned that Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales is under federal investigation for alleged allegations of money laundering and violating the federal racketeering statute.

Our sources tell us this reportedly involves a local Mexican restaurant, which our sources tell us has served as a money laundering front for either the Mexican or Guatemalan drug cartels.

Morales’ connection to this has likely involved money laundering as a facilitator or connector. Now, exactly how he allegedly accomplished this is still unclear
...
This is not the only issue facing Morales; he has also been accused of allegedly using state property (e.g., e-mails) to raise money for his political campaign. We are also told that Secretary of State employees who received bonuses were “asked” to “donate” a portion of their check to his political campaign.

You're officially on notice

The Purdue "IU SUCKS" thing at kickoffs all season irritates me because it bring such little brother energy. If anything makes me happy it's that they've had so few opportunities to do it at home this year since the Indiana State opener.

Secondarily, I'm convinced that regardless of what happens in Columbus in two weeks, Cig is going to do his damnedest to hang 80 points on the Boilers at the OOB game.

So here's the plan. Every time they get the ball, every time they're getting ready for one of the many....many.....kickoffs coming their way, we're going to make the stadium do a call & response. East side "Purdue" West side "Sucks." For an entire possession. Hell, if you're feeling froggy, for the entire game when they've got the ball.

"IU sucks," "First down bitch," all of it has to go. It's unbecoming. It's douchey. It ends this year. I want to take their spirit. I want their souls to leave their bodies. I want to see their players cry in shame. I want an entire thread on their forum to be dedicated to how it looks/sounds on TV when the announcers have no choice but to talk about an undefeated IU squad absolutely curb stomping a 1-10 PU team and completely mocking their pick-me rituals.

This is the assignment. Tell your friends.

MI Post Game Note Highlights

• The 7-0 start in Big Ten play extends the best start to a conference slate and sets the record for most B1G wins in a single season in program history. IU won six games in 1967, 1987, 2020.

• Cignetti is 27-18 in his career in one-score games. He has won seven of his last nine and is 21-9 in his last 30 one-score games.
