Where is this season headed?

What do you think is the most likely scenario?

  • IU wins seven to nine regular season games.

  • IU wins 10+ games but does not play in the B1G championship game and is not selected for the CFP

  • IU wins 10+ games, plays in and loses the B1G championship game and is not selected for the CFP

  • IU wins 10+ games, plays in and loses the B1G championship game but is still selected for the CFP

  • IU wins 10+ games, plays in and wins the B1G championship game and receives an automatic CFP bid

Trying to keep it real and not taking things out to January. Let's get through October and the first College Football Playoff rankings on Tuesday November 5.

I don't have "IU wins 10+ games, does not play in the B1G championship game but is still selected for the CFP" as an option as I don't believe that's a plausible scenario.

GameDay to Bloomington?

The good news is that NEB/IND is an absolutely perfect game to get GameDay for. Dormant program with big-time coach hire who became the first FBS team to be bowl-eligible in 2024.

Now the bad news—UGA/TEX and ALA/TENN are the same week, and both are ESPN-controlled games (NEB/IND is not). Of course, GameDay has been to Austin and Knoxville a gazillion times. They’ve been to Bloomington…once, and that wasn’t even for a Saturday game (Thursday opener vs. OSU).

So if we want GameDay to come to Bloomington, I think a campaign may be in order. (And if we don’t, to hell with it. :) )

“People today are asking for harsh sentences. I feel bad for them. God doesn’t like messing with his kids. I’m a child of God.”

- Tina Peters before getting her 9 years in prison handed down to her.

lol

She thought she'd get probation. lol

I love the 6 year old intellect. That'll work great in prison. For 9 years. Until she 78 lol.

Idiot. But, leave it to her to threaten divine retribution!

After letting others break into her county's voting machines, no less....

The Weather up at Northwestern

No major predictions this time... I'll provide some resources and you reach your own conclusions... (I will add mine at the bottom [just can't help myself 😉😎]...).

From about 3 miles offshore out in Lake Michigan (1st box upper left):

From the Northwestern Sailing Center:

Accu Weather:

National Weather Service:

Hourly Box (NWS):

As everyone is aware, the key factor up there will be the wind... I'm guessing the best indicator of the types of wind(s) they'll be experiencing at the stadium will be a combination of the first two site real time observations (average wind speed, gusts and direction of) from above...

Looks like a typical late afternoon on Lake Michigan... If you're there "live on site" you'd best bring your hat, UV rated sunglasses, and sunscreen, as it appears many of you will be seated directly across from the water ( that reflected sunlight can cook your retinas and your skin)...

Here's hoping the wind stays below 20 mph most of the game..., and that Cig has a Grad Asst. monitoring those two Weather sites at the top before we attempt a FG...

The key may be the wind direction (which can move around on you at times out on the lake), rather than the wind speed... If it's from the SSE as predicted it might be blocked a little at field level by the bleachers; if it moves around to coming in from a Northerly direction it might cause a lot more problems...

I'm guessing that as long as we don't end up throwing a pass or attempting a FG exactly when the wind gusts to above 25 we probably won't have any major issues...

Field-wise I'm just glad we're not playing on that Elephant Grass (height exaggeration) old field that (seemingly) had a foot high crown running down the center of it... I've watched more than one player (from several different schools) be taken down by it [seemingly tripping over their own feet]... That's one half of their Home Field Advantage that's gone...

Here's to a Great Day and a Great Game! 😎🍺🍺💨☁️☀️

Cassidy Hutchinson Endorses Harris

I'm sure not many people have read her book "Enough", but it was probably the best "insider" account of the Trump White House that I have read. In fact, it was so disgusting and gross in terms of what was going on prior to and after the election that I finally had to put it down. Just to frame this correctly, she broke up with her long term boyfriend because he was a conservative Republican but didn't like Trump. She was on the team that was going to go down to Mar a Lago (Sp?) after the election...and she was all Trump after the election. Then everything unwound, and her account of it is fascinating. I know the MAGAs aren't going to read it, but she was all MAGA all the time before she witnessed what she did and laid out in her book.

Long-term care insurance

My in laws got quite the shock regarding their long-term care insurance. Just recevied a notice that to continue their current benefit level, they would be required to pay premium increases of 133% phased in over the next few years. From ~$7400 to $16,000 a year. Already paid about $80k in premiums. Didn't realize this stuff was so expensive. Also didn't realize insurance companies sold policies like this that are subject to such a large increase in premiums.

I'm assuming the company dotted their i's and crossed their t's with the insurance regulators (but will be checking). Anyone have experience with this? What do you do about this? Roll the dice and hope you don't end up in LTC? Keep paying the same rate but take the lower benefits? Go broke and let Medicaid pay?

As I type this, I realize I better ask my dad about what he's got lined up with my mom for stuff like this. Ugh, I do not want to have that talk. All of this stuff makes me queasy.

Evanston food recs anyone?

Posted this on the national board but I may get an answer here too:

Heading to the makeshift stadium on the lake for the IU game tomorrow. Looking for:

1) No BS or hassle
2) Dogs/polishes/Italian beef/gyros/onion rings type place; need a local place, Portillo's type menu but not Portillo's.
3) No BS or hassle

I assume these are a dime a dozen but in that neck of the woods, I'm clueless.

Thank you.

And Go Hoosiers.
