Michigan makes big mistakes, but keeps landing on their feet

Hired Tommy Amaker (big mistake) and that didn’t go well, but they hire John Beilein and he takes them to a few final fours. He leaves for the NBA so they make another big mistake of going with a former player, Juwan Howard, then after he fails miserably they get Dusty May and in his first season he has them tied for the conference lead and looking really good.

We’re (or used to be) a basketball school and you’d think we would know how to hire a basketball coach, but we’re easily one of the worst in the B1G (likely in the country) at doing so.

Btw, we could’ve had John Beilein and probably Dusty May. I was so pissed a year ago when he took the Michigan job, not at Dusty, at the incompetency of our administration for not finding a way to make this happen. IU deserves to be a sh*t show.

Hard times for bb

I remember a time when my schedule revolved around IU BB. I ate slept and drank it. Never missed a game and expected to win almost all of them.
I’ve been slowly beat down by terrible coaching and decisions by the AD’s and Trustees.
I’m at the point that I don’t know or care when IU plays. If I see an IU game in the listings I might click on it for a bit until I lose interest which is usually about 5 minutes.
Last night I forgot about the game altogether and didn’t get the results until this morning and the sad thing is I wasn’t disappointed. I’ve come to expect those results from this coach.
I hope we get a competent coaching staff soon but I wonder if the “good old boys” are more concerned about control than winning.

IU women find Iowa City a friendly confine in 74-67 win...

The ladies knocked off #23 Iowa. Garzon had a big game and was 7 of 8 from the field and 5 of 5 on 3s going into the 4th as IU had a 64-51 lead early in that qtr. Garzon finished with 21 points, and Moore-McNeil and Parrish both had solid games and scored 18 and 15 points, respectively. Iowa made a run in the last 3 minutes or so to pull within 66-62 with 1:52 left in the game. A layup by Striplin put IU up 68-62 at just over one minute to play and a couple of FTs by Moore-McNeil gave IU some breathing room down the stretch. IU fouled a three-point shooter with 48 seconds left as Iowa pulled within 70-65. Two more FTs by Moore-McNeil put IU back up to 72-65 with 48 seconds still left. IU put the game away with a Striplin layup with seven seconds left in the game.

Box score:

Woody/NBA/Coaching

Bear with me on this. When you’re coaching in the NBA you’re playing 82+ games. So, when you get beat by 25 points one night you know the next night you might win by 35. Is Woodson still in that mode where it doesn’t bother him to get beat that badly because he knows there’s another game to play? Or does he just not give a •••t? And it doesn’t seem at times that it bothers some of the players as well. Maybe they’re taking his mentality as well. We all ready know that he coaches like he’s still there since he doesn’t hold his players accountable or instructs them what they’re doing wrong.

Is there any downside in replacing CMW immediately?

I ask this seriously.
We are looking at an absolute shit show. A team with more innate talent then anyone else in the B10 and we keep getting blown out, or perhaps the best spin is that we play to level of our opponents, the ones that suck (thank you for that line Hysterics).
None of the players would walk because the money is too good. And even a mediocre coach couldn't do any worse than this. Let Ya or Walsh be an interim coach and with this amount of talent they have, their performance would only improve. And if either did OK, we'd have an excellent young hire. I suspect most of the hired guns would stay for the NIL.
The risk/reward equation is clear. There is zero risk in canning him immediately as I really can't see a downside other than wasting a bunch of $$$ with a buy out.
Is there a downside?

Does anyone care still?

I know coulda, shoulda, woulda, not much can be done now. The plug should have been pulled on Woodson last year. I expected more preparation and attention to fundamentals from someone that played under Knight. They are haphazard at best. Absolutely no toughness. It is tiresome to play games of significance (ya know games against ranked or better competition) and be completely uncompetitive each. and. every. time. Rant off. I wonder if anyone cares in the Athletic Dept. that I don't view IU basketball as a must attend event or TV program to watch any longer.

I read an article about White Christian Nationalism and I’m curious what the overwhelming view of it is on this board. So I’m using a simple pole to gauge your opinion but feel free to add comments of why you do or don’t support WCN.
