Kentucky was always going to be the team to beat if an offer was extended.

Took an unofficial to Indiana earlier this season. IU was serious for a bit but decided to go in a different direction with the 2022 class and that resulted in Malik Reneau.

So if anyone is interested, just passing along the national story about his commitment.

Luke Hayden is on the mound for IU with an ERA of 5.48 in 21.1 IP, while RHP Chase Allen is on the mound for UM with an ERA of 3.19 in 53.2 IP. Allen has been UM's best pitcher over their last three series. I thought Tucker might start this game, but that was obviously off.

First road game was the big comeback at Illinois, where Thigpen opened the second half with a 98 card TD kickoff return.

As we stated a few weekends ago, a visist to Indiana is happening in June but Oregon and Kentucky are the two teams strongest here. Arizona is another strong team that could sneak into the drivers seat after visits.

One quirky question - is 630,000+ “unwanted” or “unhealthy” pregnancies an issue worthy of attention? If Covid had killed 600,000 in a year, wouldn't it still have been declared a crisis and prompted action? Anyway - from CDC:

“In 2019, 629,898 legal induced abortions were reported to CDC from 49 reporting areas. Among 48 reporting areas with data each year during 2010–2019, in 2019, a total of 625,346 abortions were reported, the abortion rate was 11.4 abortions per 1,000 women aged 15–44 years, and the abortion ratio was 195 abortions per 1,000 live births.

From 2010 to 2019, the number, rate, and ratio of reported abortions decreased 18%, 21%, and 13%, respectively. However, compared with 2018, in 2019, the total number increased 2%, the rate of reported abortions increased by 0.9%, and the abortion ratio increased by 3%.

Similar to previous years, in 2019, women in their twenties accounted for the majority of abortions (56.9%). The majority of abortions in 2019 took place early in gestation: 92.7% of abortions were performed at ≤13 weeks’ gestation; a smaller number of abortions (6.2%) were performed at 14–20 weeks’ gestation, and even fewer (<1.0%) were performed at ≥21 weeks’ gestation.

Early medical abortion is defined as the administration of medications(s) to induce an abortion at ≤9 completed weeks’ gestation, consistent with the current Food and Drug Administration labeling for mifepristone (implemented in 2016). In 2019, 42.3% of all abortions were early medical abortions. Use of early medical abortion increased 10% from 2018 to 2019 and 123% from 2010 to 2019.”

Having selected my football seats yesterday I noticed that my basketball season ticket renewal application is live in my account. The price per game for my football season tickets is $53 while the per game price for the upcoming basketball season is $54. I am wondering if any other B10 school has basketball tickets priced higher than football?
This is the first time by my recollection that IU basketball per game tickets cost more than football.

I know Gabes team won and Newton had 20+ and a few 3s but was wondering how Gabe did individually

It will the the same rotation this weekend and probably for the rest of the season barring injury with Perkins on the mound on Friday, Brehmer on Saturday, and the unpredictable TBA on Sunday. IU and Michigan are really close to each other in batting, pitching and fielding, but obviously, the Wolverines have the better record at 23-18 and 9-6 in the B1G. In batting, IU is 5th with a pretty good team average of .281, while Michigan is 6th and is hitting .275 as a team. In pitching, IU is 13th (last) with a team ERA of 7.03, while Michigan is 11th with a team ERA of 6.31. In fielding, IU is tied for 3rd with a fielding pct of 0.976, while Michigan took over 2nd where IU was before the Illini series with a pct of 0.977. Indiana has committed 37 errors in 44 games, while Michigan has committed 34 errors in 41 games, so you could say it's pretty even since IU has played three more games. In the first, a single by Whalen and a walk to Mathison put two on, and Ellis hit a 2-0ut double to score both runners to give IU an early 2-0 lead.

In UM's 1st, Brehmer hits the first batter he faced. Brehmer then gets a K for the 1st out and a runner on. A single puts runners on the corners with one out. A ground out scores the run from 3rd and we have two outs with the score at 2-1, and for the second straight game, a hit batter has scored for Michigan. Another single scores the runner from 2nd and we are tied at 2-2, and it's not a good sign to see Brehmer struggling in the 1st. Another single puts runners on 1st and 2nd with two outs. Brehmer gets a K to end the 1st.

The Attorney General of the United States launched a new Office of Environmental Justice. Included in the statement creating this DOJ effort is:

Think about this for a moment. We have robust environmental laws. We have robust federal, state, and local enforcement. We even have authorized private enforcement of which various advocacy groups take full advantage, often to a fault. So what exactly is the law enforcement or governmental purpose of this effort? I have no clue. Except to say its more irrelevant BS from an increasingly obvious incompetent administration. Harmful pollution is ubiquitous. Consistent enforcement and remediation protects all of us.

But if Attorney General Garland is convinced about creating another bureaucracy centered on minorities I have a suggestion. How about an Office of Educational Justice. The education we provide black youngsters in this country is a national disgrace. It became worse during the pandemic as democratic-leaning teacher groups kept schools shut down, which we now know was overdone and hurt the education of minority kids the most. But we won't hear a peep about educational justice from Democrats because democrats, particularly inner-city black Democrats, are responsible for our horrible educational inequality.

How about an office of Gun Justice. The body count of black youngsters in the United States is another national disgrace. The dead young black bodies are the result of other black young men, who themselves will probably be dead or in jail soon. The largest cause of death of black young men is homicide. Attorney General Garland, where are you on this?

How about an office of Drug Abuse Justice? Black overdose deaths are rocketing upward and have now passed whites.

This isn't to say a clean environment isn't important. But good grief, a bad environment won't even make the list of things that specifically harm blacks in this country.

The Biden Administration truly is stupid and irrelevant in so many ways.

Assuming TJD is returning, which he may not, I hope CMW doesn’t have another year of the very same starting lineup from beginning to end. Knight always used competition in practice as a motivational tool, those that played best in practice would start the next game. I also hope he does not continue with the full platooning concept. Not everyone is ready for a rest or deserves to be benched at the same time. So, I would like to see rotations by positions that would look like this.
4-5 positions rotated with TJD, Race, Malik and Geronimo
2-3 positions rotated by Bates, Kopp, Galloway and Gunn
Point - X and JHS
Caleb and Logan would be additional backup for the 4-5
Leal would provide adequate depth for 1,2 and 3

if SCOTUS does overturn Roe, does the plus from the body blow to Pubs in state races across the US, out weigh the harm of a pregnant female having to leave the state once or twice in their lifetime for a day or a couple of days, for an abortion if wanted/needed.

to watch the Louisville Bats vs the Indians. I enjoyed watching the Indians SS, Oneil Cruz. He is 6'7" but very comfortable looking at his position. The only downside I saw was he was late on a tag at second possibly because he couldn't get his glove down in time. If his arms were closer to the ground (like me-VBG) the guy would have been out, maybe. LOL. I thought that the Montgomery kid we recruited (but drafted) who was around 6'4" was too tall for SS but I guess not!
