Reported on a sports radio station in Atlanta, too, citing the same source.
ESPN now reporting! We may have to play OSU/Mich/USC/UCLA/ and Notre Dame in the same season in the near future!!!
Yes and PUke will have to tough it out with Northwestern,Maryland,Illinois and Rutgers.
Word is it’s a done deal. Now would be a good opportunity for Indiana to look elsewhere for a conference in which it can compete and even win a lot.
4 4 team pods, then rotate the other 4/5 games with a protected rival if needed.
Ours would likely be Purdue and the Michigans.

Financially, this is about as good as it gets. Maybe use the $$ to compete where we are better.
Why two? One would do it, wouldn't it?
Add PU to the East, then add two to the west and you've got 8 in each division.
If they have any sense at all (which is a long shot) they will not have divisions.
Top 2 teams play in the league championship game.
Divisions are dead. This is clearly why we never announced they were dead when everyone else had. This was in the works. My prediction is we’ll do divisions in 2023, then move to no divisions but these pods in 2024. You’ll play the same 3 or 4 teams every single year, with everyone else rotating. Championship game is top 2.
These additions help explain why the conference has largely gone radio silent on scheduling realignment and the new TV contract. Adding USC + UCLA should mean better $$$$$

Probably right but I would like to see some sort of playoff in the conference. Say 4 teams per pod. Play 8 conference games with 3 ooc and then a pod playoff and the the championship.
I remember my grandpa saying that when Penn State joined the B1G.
Nope. Add two to the west, all you'd have to do is move one out.

B1G will now have the four largest TV markets (NY, LA, Chicago, Philadelphia) in the US. Amazing.

Cut a deal with Notre Dame and allow them to keep their home games deal with NBC. All their away games *will* be televised playing in the new Big Ten.
Add Pitt - good school, locks up the (I believe) fifth most populous state.
Then poach Stanford and Cal. Two high prestige universities, with varying amounts of success over the years, but are used to competing at the highest level. Essentially puts all of California in the Big Ten and creates opportunities for easier travel for that bloc of teams.

The word is that a B1G AD last night blabbed out of school last night about this and that’s why it has spread like wildfire. I wonder who it was?
