Wouldn't it be crazy if......?

Interestingly, the same people who say Global Warming is a hoax think we can create hurricanes and direct them to North Carolina.

Warmer air means more energy AND more humidity. Humidity contributes to rainfall. Has anyone ever wondered why deserts have little humidity and one can feel the water on very high-humidity days? The weather people note a cold front coming through and how it will produce a lot of rain because of all the humidity in the air? So why is GW a hoax, but creating a hurricane is spot on?

Cloud seeding, in high humidity, can add 10% to rainfall. So if they had 25 inches of rain, the imaginary people seeding those clouds caused it to go from 22.72 to 25.0 inches. I don't know if it was worth their time and money.

And of course, if they can spawn up a hurricane and move it to North Carolina, wouldn't they be ready for it? Not responding well to a hurricane in a state in play could easily cost the president the election.
Re: your last paragraph.

Similarly, even after a natural hurricane hit NC, why would a Democrat administration intentionally withhold federal aid to NC (as some MAGAs are claiming) -- it would surely piss off NC voters just before an election when NC is possibly in play.

The hurricane conspiracy theory makes no sense.

For what it's worth, FEMA has set up a Rumor Response page on their website because there is so much wrong information out there. They haven't gotten to Helene being created and directed by the government yet though.

Much of what the rebuke is being pushed by the GOP presidential hopeful.
Trump knows all about hurricanes. He can draw his own maps and everything.

Good grief…people are dumb.

What doesn't make sense to me is that for decades climate scientists have been predicting the severity and frequency of hurricanes would ramp up. When it happens, none of the climate deniers act like adults, concede the point even a little and ask important questions about how we curb these types of storms. Instead, they come up with batshit craziness about some secret government conspiracy about controlling hurricanes to hurt their political opponents and withholding relief funds.

It's so stupid and makes zero sense.

What changes are you making to curb these types of storms?

Me personally? I'm not sure why that matters, but if you want to get into a pissing match about individual carbon footprints or whatever, have at it.
If we, as individuals, aren’t doing anything about it then what’s the big deal.

It’s always someone else’s fault.

I laugh when people bitch about the temperature rising a little and the river and sea levels rising. Yet….they aren’t doing anything personally to help fix this dire situation.

Well, I am, but again, that’s not really the point here. If the people in charge aren’t able to even acknowledge the root of the problem, much less what to do about it, me taking individual mitigating steps won’t matter much.

Put differently, if a faction of politicians are saying we’d all be OK if those in charge would just stop targeting their political opponents with their secret hurricane control weapon, we have bigger issues than my driving less or taking my own bags to Kroger will solve.

Darpa black programs which succeeded HAARP could actually create extreme weather conditions, to include massive tropical storms?

...the highest quality lithium deposits in the world are located just outside Asheville North Carolina?

...the largest lithium company in the world, three days before the flood began, submitted permits for a mine just outside Asheville North Carolina?

...the mining company were given $250 million in grants to help construct a mine just outside Asheville North Carolina?

...less than a month before the flood started, BlackRock acquired 2.2 million shares in the mining company?

...the residents just outside Ashville North Carolina, who opposed the mining project had their homes, businesses and lives destroyed?

Wouldn't that be crazy?....
Please tell me you don’t believe that bull. The people that make that stuff up are just wacky. Those of us that actually study and understand these things know it’s caused by ALIENS.

Most propaganda is not designed to fool the critical thinker but only to give moral cowards an excuse not to think at all.

I take it you don’t vote either, given your mentality…

The mass of a hurricane ( a "normal" hurricane) is projected to equal 40 million elephants. So a hurricane has a mass of 320,000,000,000 pounds (using the lighter Asian elephant). How much energy would humanity have to spend to appreciably move that much mass? Does DARPA have a few hundred nuclear reactors lying around for this? It takes energy to move something.

A hurricane's wind energy equals 1/2 of humanity's electrical energy output. The rain energy in a hurricane is equal to 200 times the total electrical output on the planet. And that is an "average" hurricane, not a cat 5.

So how do we move these things? How do we create them? How do we stop them? You might as well ask the ant how it plans to move, create, or stop a rhino.

Of course, all this is moot if Superman is real.

Whether it is government deficits, putting Social Security on a firm footing, or dealing with global warming it is easier to put off doing something about them than coming together to find a solution.

It takes a joint effort and a willingness to weigh the consequences of not doing something versus becoming pro active.

It is like having a health problem symptom and hoping it will go away.

Inertia is a huge problem. For the problems you mention, changes made years out can be small. If the Titanic had changed course 10 miles sooner it may never have even seen the iceberg, let alone hit it. But the closer we get, the bigger the correction that needs made.

I think we are getting to the point that Social Security is screwed. The solutions get more drastic by the year, and we aren't going to act until it is a total crisis.

Deficits/debt is similar. Each year we pay more in servicing the debt reducing money available for actual productive use. I've touted a spending freeze for years, we should have done it years ago.

AGW could have been relatively easily tackled if we tried (both individually and as a species) 30 years ago. But we didn't. Every year the problem gets worse means we will suffer more impacts and it will require more to slow/stop it.

But humanity's default position is to do nothing. Including the health care you spoke about. Doing nothing is easy.

Understanding Science is not a common denominator in the US populace. Everyone wants to sing in the choir, but not everyone can sing on tune sort of concept. Sea levels rising, sea temperatures rising, polar ice cap and glaciers everywhere melting- it seems a lot of data to ignore. But I live in Indiana nowhere near a coast, so…..

I saw a YouTube video that in the last couple years, a piece of the front railing, about 30 feet long they said, had fallen to the sea floor.

Western North Carolina , East Tennessee, and Central to North Florida are strong MAGA voting areas.
Given the utter mendacity of this federal ruling clique, anything to fvck with the election, delay the recovery, anything to obstruct citizen's right to vote is to be expected.
I live for the reckoning.
