Woodson Special

Showing just how low your expectations are or how bad you are at sarcasm?

Expectations are hard with this program. Why?
Because IU basketball is a lousy product. A lot of great support from a tremendous fanbase that keeps buying into a false bill of goods every year.
IU is a mediocre basketball program. A finish in the top 5 of the conference is a crowning achievement for a school like IU.

So, we can all have expectations with varying degrees as to what constitutes “meeting expectations” but the bottom line is that IU basketball does virtually nothing of its own to drive up expectations. It is simply a non-factor.

You asked for specifics, he gave them, then you deflect.
not all... his list reflects player activities
Well, it depends on your expectations. If you're happy with sneaking into the NCAAT, getting blown off the court several times a season, etc.--and your measuring stick is Archie--then Woody is your guy.

If, however, you expect IU to be at least somewhat nationally relevant...
sorry you are just wrong on your summary... never liked Archie it was a step backwards in my eyes.

CMW is the right coach at the right time. Today was a step in the right direction; matching up with a top 10 team.

Atleaat were only about a year away next March before Woodson is fired. This season is not going anywhere and next season Ware, Mgbako, Galloway, Johnson are all gone and we still have no guards coming in.

This post says it all: You're content with a close loss ... at home. If Woody is "the right coach at the right time," you have low expectations for this program. But hey, if mediocrity is your thing, I'm happy for you.

i dont think they will can woodson becasue he is a legend and thats the problem with hiring an iu guy good luck getting rid of him.

The false bill of goods at a bbal school is absurd though because it should not be this hard. You got schools like alabama, auburn, and arkansas football schools killing it with bbal. Yet we invest all this time and money and get shitty results. Bbal was an after thought at those schools. We just continue to make bad hires. The best coach we ever hired since knight was sampson and yes i know he was slimy at the time but can coach period. The rest have been average at best though crean had a couple good years.

If woodson was really a filler coach he would likely leave after year three but there is no guy on the bench to take over. We thought before it may be dane but that will not happen now.

It's because your critique is based entirely on your emotions and that's very childish whining.

The fact is that Woodson coached a good game today. The defense was very good, the offense was very good for most of the game. The team has most definitely improved, as have some of the players. They're starting to play well together.

You can wallow in your misery as you perpetually do. I'm enjoying watching this team get better (minus) 2/3rds of the Auburn game.
Plus no one mentions how much a loss it is without X because it doesent fit their intiative. With X, IU wins by 5-7 yesterday.

Not sure it's Woodson's fault. At critical times IU just didn't play with composure. That's on the players.
Players who were spent-no bench help, Woodson's lack of getting any guard help in portal, X injury history,Woodson is the head coach-it falls on him.

Where did IU finish in the conference last year? Above your expectations?

Or that our coach wouldn’t make adjustments. Yep
I mean how are you blaming this on woodys coaching last night? Want to blame it on the roster construction? Yep that’s valid.

But our roster just sucks. He played the only players that gave us a chance and almost pulled it out. You wanted him to adjust and start Gunn in the second? Maybe Leal?

They ran out of gas and had to play 37, 38, and 39 minutes. We had 6 guys that could play with KU, and 2 got in foul trouble. Maybe he puts Mack back in sooner with 4 fouls? About the only critique you can give woody for in game coaching yesterday.

This game was lost this summer when recruiting.

Your lack of concern with honesty and integrity says much about you.

Those early turnovers on runouts hurt. Woody exploited every weakness on KU. He coached a great game yesterday. Self gambled by playing his guys in foul trouble and it worked. We supposedly have a deeper bench but they are inconsistent to say the least. We stopped driving the ball with 6 to go and it cost us.

X would have had 10 turnovers and we’d have lost by 15.

He’s the best we’ve got and he’s been made out to be way more than he is. He’s not an elite guard. And, unfortunately, the kid is perpetually injured.

Below.
They were the preseason top selection to win the conference….with those veterans coming back…..but we had Woody leading it, so I should have known that would be a real gamble because of him as a factor.

Is it really so wrong to want a really good coach at IU? - Considering you are on a board filled with IU fans. That's a dumb question.

Woodson is not it. - You don't know that, Coach Dunning-Kruger. Sitting on your fat ass while drinking beer does not make you an expert.

Overall our guys struggle with physical play, but especially our guards sans X. You watch other teams and their guards play to physical play, encourage and milk it to draw fouls. Our guys almost always pass or pull out of it. Cupps and Trey have got to get their drive low and go into the contact and I don't think it's natural for either of them. Cupps should be getting 5-6 pts a game at the FT line alone, but it's just not who he is now. X can be that guy, but he's injured.

All I could do was smh while reading that post.

So in both football and basketball we are happy staying in the game with top teams. 😂😢😡

Link it. I don’t recall IU being the preseason favorite.
