Woodson Special

With this coach?
I would expect it with a coach that wasn’t in over his head.
When you wish upon a ⭐️….
I am not referring to the coach. This state, fan base, and players deserve the best coaching staff in the country. Indiana’s legacy and history demand it. When one watches the sideline our coaches look confused. The results speak for themselves. I don’t blame Woody as much as I blame the AD.

Do you think mindless childish whining is a good look for you? You're way too old to be so immature.

So pointing out that we have a poorly coached team and a mismanaged program is childish whining. I was simply offering a counterpoint to your perpetually
delusional stance that everything is just fine.

I would have liked to have traded head coaches today and seen the result.

It's because your critique is based entirely on your emotions and that's very childish whining.

The fact is that Woodson coached a good game today. The defense was very good, the offense was very good for most of the game. The team has most definitely improved, as have some of the players. They're starting to play well together.

You can wallow in your misery as you perpetually do. I'm enjoying watching this team get better (minus) 2/3rds of the Auburn game.

Check back with me in a few weeks and we’ll analyze this theory you have that we’re getting “better.”

Woody is just a chaperone. Nothing more, nothing less.

Actually the opposite is true
The two most annoying things about the perpetually pessimistic Negative Nancies do is claim that they are realistic and have higher expectations. It's nothing but a crock of crap. It would be miserable to attend a live game with any of you. If you came to my house and started up with the crap you spew during games on here, I'd kick you out of the house. Of course, I'd never invite any of you anyway. ;)

I try not to rag on Woodson but UConn and Kansas are just offensively in a different league. The ball moment, the motion, the screens. It’s night and day. We waste half the shot clock before we even attack. It’s hard to win big games without easy buckets.
It seems just passing. Those teams, and Auburn, move the ball with a purpose and they do it with passes, not dribbling. They probe, move it in and out and get it to different sides of the floor. Often, it just looks like we have no one who wants to take a shot. Physical play and contact give us problems too. So many guards drive into contact, force it and take it strong or get fouled. Generally it causes our guys to stop and back it out. We don't make FTs, but we need to be driving in to contact from our wings and guards.

You probably hand out participation trophies to your guests as they arrive.
I’m just disappointed that in big games. Woody drops a giant turd every damn time. If you are good with it, feels like that speaks to low expectations.

Do you hand out pom poms and rose colored glasses when your fan club comes over? Is it really so wrong to want a really good coach at IU? Woodson is not it. The only reason it sounded good at his hiring was Matta and Fife coming along - didn't take long for that to end... I would really like a coach who can actually make us a blue blood again (you know, kind of like Kansas). The was a home game with a great, great crowd that carried them a bit.

Woody did not drop a giant turd today. Kansas is a better team. We were in foul trouble and we have a really shallow bench. We played with great effort with a much inexperienced team.

I actually thought Woody had a damn good game plan against the #2 team in the country. He didn’t miss 7 FT’s and multiple opportunities at the offensive end. Refs didn’t cost us the game but they sure didn’t help either.

That was a real gut punch.
it was more about execution which is typical with a new team

That's the third most annoying thing, assuming that others that don't whine and cry after a loss like children believe in participation trophies.

Also, you obviously have very low expectations.

You Negative Nancies aren't intelligent either. You're driven by your immaturity and emotions.

Actually, you are correct: IU gave a very gutsy effort today for an average mid-major program. IU is just trying to build its program to compete with the top-25 programs and they are trying to move up from a lower tier Big10 program into the top-5 of the conference. They are giving it their best effort and if they were to have a successful stretch for a few years, they can move beyond their mid-major status.

Showing just how low your expectations are or how bad you are at sarcasm?

Is it really so wrong to want a really good coach at IU? - Considering you are on a board filled with IU fans. That's a dumb question.

Woodson is not it. - You don't know that, Coach Dunning-Kruger. Sitting on your fat ass while drinking beer does not make you an expert.

Hiring a guy with zero college coaching experience simply because he's an IU guy was one of the dumbest mistakes any AD has ever made. I said so at the time. Horrible hire. Way worse than Archie who most analysts at least believed was a solid coach while at Dayton.

Ware struggles with teams that have size. Another bad shooting night for him vs a team with size
This is an easy one to figure out why. Coaches know IU doesn’t have good guard play and must rely on Ware and Reneau. Self keyed on stopping Ware, who was double teamed often. What made the game close was Galloway unexpectedly going off for 28. If IU had consistent guard production Ware wouldn’t be the focal point and keyed on by the opponent.

Woodson has upgraded the talent by 5 fold, though. Archie had TJD, but outside of that our teams with him were mid major level. But I agree, Woodson does not have the chops to coach at the college level and be successful enough for IU.

Upgraded the talent by 5 fold yet we're looking at an Archie like season. So he's a worse coach than Archie but a better recruiter?

I mean it is upgraded some mostly in the front guard. I certainly don't see guard play elevated this year though

I mean yes I thought it was stupid also. I think last year is about the ceiling for Woodson record wise. I just don't see him getting us to sweet sixeteens even. We don't have the guards for one and likely won't next year either.
