Those 3 names are not necessarily even being considered.
Indiana has averaged 14 losses per season over then last 17 years. Probably 22 years. Why would they consider Brownell if they want to improve? In 23 years he's only had 4 seasons with fewer than 10 losses. Brad Underwood has had 5 seasons with fewer than 10, in 12 yrs of coaching. Why would Indiana spend millions to hire a guy who isn't even able to win the Big Ten? I don't think Brownell is a candidate.
Take Cronin then. He wins consistently there is no arguing. However this is a guy who recruits players like Lance Stephenson and needs 10 top 100 guys to finish well in the Big Ten. Is it that way every year,no. But does anyone think he gets a lot out of the talent he has? I'm not so sure he does. I'd say Greg Gard is a better get than Mike Cronin and Gard isn't going to come to Indiana. UCLA and Cincinnati are about as far from IU basketball as UNLV was during the 80s. Cronin simply won't be a good fit.
TJ Otzelberger- maybe. Maybe they offer him. His guys compete. He has a good record.
Yes. Definitely.
Also, if Stevens and May are out, I'd throw the farm to land Beard.
My next few include McCasland as a high candidate but also I'd be calling Donovan, Tony Bennett, Jay Wright, and Randy Bennett.
If I can't get any of them, the TJ Otzel.
After that...I give up. Probably gamble on either DeVries or McCollum.
